Due to the pandemic of COVID-19,
we’ve lived in troubled era with actually feeling the crises,
such as infectious diseases and disasters.
In situation like this, we’ve realized how precious our family is.
Hong, Soun has laid his own ideas, ‘Sidescape’,
that we should gaze at side of disaster and family,
and then brought new inspiration to our lives.
As appreciating his artworks,
we can focus upon diverse aspects of lives and thought, not expected.

非常喜歡哥哥的影片風格，讓人很平靜也可以擴展了解不同的眼界。帶我們從觀賞藝術之中可以深刻思考。看著不同的畫，表面看起來平靜美好，但仔細了解才發現背後的故事及深奧。很喜歡裡面的一句"災難的磨難才能表現大自然的偉大和崇高"
以及家庭的確存在不同想法的摩擦，但藉由溝通或者了解彼此的想法也是美好的相處模式。
最後看到哥哥的下集預告，感覺也是非常令人好奇的展覽，期待下周的更新❤❤

As expected, another impressive and thought provoking episode of Yessay 😌I am glad that Yesung chooses topics that are relevant to the issues we face today. It truly shows that he wanted this channel to reflect to our daily lives not only as an individual but also as a society. With Climate Change being the greatest threat to mankind, seeing these beautiful paintings also reminds us of how much we need to take care of what is left and that we need to be more proactive in taking care of the environment, although of course huge capitalist corporations banking on natural resources and producing tons of waste should be the one to make the biggest move.
I was also moved with how he interpreted the paintings about family and relationship strains with them. Explaining that things that happen in a family is not only an individual issue and that historical events and flow affect people’s values and way of thinking. Just like in the previous episode of Korea’s technological advancement, Yesung once again tied down historical context to individual concerns and his personal realizations in the art he encounters. It amazes me how natural for Yesung to apply Sociological Imagination (a term in Sociology for a framework that views and understands social reality by placing personal experiences within a broader social and historical context ) to his opinions of art and how he also applies intersectionality in it. Another example of this is his comment regarding the artist’s mother seemingly portrayed as an educated woman because of the chinese characters written all over it, wherein Yesung recognizes that it was a rare and privileged thing for women to have in a higly misogynistic society. Aside from acknowledging gender struggles, he also considered socio-economic differences when he seemingly cannot relate to the Archery Competition painting as it didn’t seem like a common thing for people to do in their childhood.
Kudos to Yesung and the production team, and special shout out to the translator for conveying Yesung’s essay in an enticingly poetic way 💙 I can’t wait for the next Yessay episode! 🎞️

작가님의 가족을 그린 방식이 와닿네요. 삐걱대지만 사랑하는 상대를 이해하기 위해 그 위에 그 사람이 살았던 시대를 덧붙여서 입체적으로 이해해 보고자 그림이라는 작가님의 언어로 노력한.. 따뜻하고 치열하게 가족에게 다가가려는 하나의 사랑의 방법으로 읽혀져요 :)
정성스러운 감상, 진지한 고찰, 굳이 아는 체를 곁들이지않는 진정성. 작가들이나 전공자들도 좋아할만한 컨텐츠가 아닐까 생각해봅니다ㅜㅜ 특히 이번 주제는 유독 전시품의 시각이 신선하고도 심오해서 인상깊네요. 죽을뻔한 순간에 느껴졌던 바다의 아름다움...새로운 영감에 감탄하고 그런 물음을 던져주며 함께 고민해주는 예성오빠에게도 👏 👏 .

God i can't thank you enough for the english subtitles, i hope it will be there for every video bc i really like Yesung's insight for art. Also what he said about nature, it's easy to forget that we're just a speck of stone in space, and even on that stone, we're nothing against nature. and yet we humans feel as if we're on top of the world. We really need to be humbled lol
What seems to come through clearly is how interaction with art can be used as a way for the viewer to understand themselves better.
I studied history and had realised I reflect on these studies to do the same thing.
It's so fascinating how we all interact with the world.

Hong Soon-myeong's solo exhibition shown recently at Savina Museum of Art.
This exhibition, which is mainly composed of paintings, presents new works that contain the irony brought about by the coexistence and combination of disparate things that cannot coexist using disaster landscapes as the subject matter.
Hong Soon-myeong has expanded the theme of 'sidescape' by reflecting the concept of 'part and whole' and the times for 20 years, going back and forth between painting and three-dimensional work. In this exhibition, the oblique gaze of the artist who looked at the world in the meantime has been moved to disaster. Through human-centered thoughts and landscapes that include things that are beyond what humans can handle in 'Side', the artist takes a step back from a human point of view and thinks about the crisis of disaster.say

I was so impressed by the theme of disaster and family. The two words seem unrelated, but both of them give me a feeling of separation and reunion. Disasters make people apart, while they also attract the world's attention. Throughout our lives, there is always a time for us to say goodbye with our family, but we'll reunite and embrace each other at somewhere else. Really nice topic and narration! I'm always looking forward to the next episode!
재난과 가족이라는 주제가 너무 인상적이었어요.두 단어는 관련이 없어 보이지만 두 단어 모두 이별과 재회의 느낌을 줘요. 재난은 사람들을 갈라놓는 반면, 세상의 이목을 끌기도 해요. 우리가 사는 동안 항상 가족과 작별 인사를 할 때가 있지만 우리는 다른 곳에서 재회하고 서로 포옹할 거예요. 정말 좋은 주제와 내레이션이네요! 항상 다음 회를 기대돼요! 고마워요💙💙💙
처음에는 이번 작품들은 저번에 백남준 선생님 작품에서 보았던 것들보다 무거운 것도 있지만 가벼운 느낌이 든다고 생각했어요. 근데 역시 예술이란 것은 가벼운 게 없는 것 같네요. 그냥 풍경과 사진인가 싶다가도 작가의 의도를 알게 되면 마음에 확 와닿는 것 같아요.
오늘 제게 가장 기억에 남는 작품은 예요. 처음에는 그냥 바다네? 왜 재난이지? 라는 생각이 들었어요. 근데 알고보니 작가님 본인이 빠져 죽을 뻔했던 상황에서 아름다움을 표현했다니.. 자연 자체가 아름다운 것은 너무나 당연한 사실이지만 그 상황에서 느꼈다는 점은 이상하고 모순적인 상황이죠. 그 부분이 굉장히 흥미로웠어요.
가족을 주제로한 3층?에 있던 작품들도 굉장히 흥미로웠어요. 밖이라 소음으로 인해 제대로 느끼고 즐기지 못했기 때문에 집에 가서 다시 조용하게 혼자 봐야겠어요🥲
오빠가 설명해주는 것은 전문적인 미술적 비평이라기보다 저 작품을 조금이라도 관심을 본다면 우리도 느낄 수 있는 것이기 때문에 더욱 와닿는 것 같아요. 그리고 직접 가보지는 못했지만 오빠덕분에 이렇게라도 즐길 수 있어서 너무 감사해요🥰 다음 주제도 꼭 챙겨볼게요☺️💙
평소 미술과 전시를 좋아하면서도 일부러 한국 작가들의 개인전시를 찾아간 적은 많지 않은 것 같아요, 한국의 문화예술이 전세계적으로 주목을 받고있는 시점에서 순수미술계는 왜 이렇게 지지부진할까 불평만 하고있었는데 오빠 덕분에 흥미로운 시선으로 또 다르게 전시들을 또 구경할 수 있는 것 같아요ㅠㅠ 평생 17년을 옆에서 지켜보고 응원해왔던 오빠인데도 불구하고 오빠는 같은 작품을 봐도 나와 다른 시선으로 다른 생각을 한다는게 신기하네요.. 더 많은 전시리뷰 많이 보여주세요 너무 좋다ㅠㅠㅠ

Insisto AMO la manera en la que Yesung está uniendo una cosa con otra, nos está mostrando mucho de él con su canal. the 2nd episode of yessay made me teary eyed, specially the one about the koala. you did an amazing job again. is there a team that writes or edits your script? or do you write it all on your own? the words you use are very effective in capturing the interest of the viewers. well done! i like the disaster exhibit than the family exhibit. Acabo de ver este vídeo con subtítulos y estoy en chock, la habilidad con la que habla yesung.. puedo sentir sus sentimientos a travez de sus palabras y hasta me hizo derramar lágrimas. La forma en la que Yesung explica la perspectiva y sentimientos del artista es simplemente wow, me hizo sentir sensaciones mientras veía las obras del artista. Gracias Yesung porque ahora cuando vea una pintura, voy a profundizar del por qué la hizo el artista.

저 역시도 '가족'이라는 단어를 떠올리는 것 자체만으로 마음이 아련하다고 할까요? 저희 가족은 여행을 자주 못 갔는데, 왜 그렇게 같이 안 다녔을까? 하고 생각이 들더라고요. 코로나가 많이 잠잠해지고, 두 달 전에 여수 여행을 다녀오면서 사진을 정말 많이 찍었는데, 이런 시간을 더욱더 많이 가져야겠다고 생각이 들었어요ㅎㅎ
자연 앞에서 보잘 것 없는 우리는 자연을 보려고 여행을 하잖아요? 예성 오빠와 함께 관람한 사비나 미술관에서 자연, 가족 작품들을 보면서 더욱더 자연에게, 그리고 저의 가족에게 늘 감사해야겠다는 생각이 들었어요 :) 예성 오빠의 감미로운 목소리와 함께 보는 예세이는 정말 힐링이 되고 많은 공부가 되는 것 같아서 오늘도 행복을 얻고 가요ㅎㅎ 정말 고마워요☺️

같은 영화,그림,사진, 음악을 감상하더라도 예술가의 눈은 역시 특별히 날카로운 듯!
감동의 표현을 실감나게 잘 해 주시는 거 같아요!

在COVID-19趨緩後重新看這部影片捕捉的街景，特別有種重新回顧當時情況的感覺，是之前看影片時沒有感受到的，這是第一次在影片中感受到時間流動之於我的意義。很喜歡在一開始時對於挑選展覽動機的說明，以及對於美術館與三角山互為呼應的聯想。災害展覽區的畫作是由一小張一小張分開來看是抽象畫作組合，這讓我對於視野變換所看到的不同畫面感到非常神奇。家族展覽區的作品的作畫方式很特別，而作品中傳達出的疏離感受在知道家族之餘畫家的意義後，覺得看上去特別哀傷，但我想家族對於不同人本身就具備不同的意義吧。回過頭來看一開始的Yessay，當中心得式的聯想呈現真的很有趣，期待Yessay第二季的歸來💙💙💙

이것이 고통스러운 비극이라는 사실을 우리가 정말로 알지 못하는 아름다운 재앙이 그려져 있습니다. 코알라와 같은 많은 동물을 죽인 호주에서 그가 그린 산불이 계속되는 산불로 인해 비행기와 같은 이동 수단까지 취소되는 것을 기억했습니다. 작가님도 힘든 시간을 겪었다는 걸 그의 그림에서 느꼈어요. 또한 그의 가족에 대한 사랑, 가치관, 추억이 뚜렷이 보이는 것도 그림을 그리는 이유가 될 수 있을 것 같아요ㅎㅎ. 그러나 결국 이것은 주의를 산만하게 하는 것이 무엇이든 항상 달콤한 탈출구가 있다는 것을 설명합니다. 내레이터 yessay를 공유해 주셔서 감사합니다.😁🤭🥰

Me gusta más la segunda parte de la exposición. El primer artista quiso hacer algo más universal, desastres con los que muchos nos podemos identificar, pues vivimos la cercanía de desastres naturales, accidentes o incluso en algunos lugares terrorismo. Sin embargo en la segunda parte el artista se fue a algo incluso más profundo, retratando a su familia y sentimientos que pueden llegar no a los que nos sucede sino lo que somos con nuestra familia.
Gracias por llevarnos a esta exposición, incluso al otro lado del mundo. ❤

각 캔버스에 따로 색칠해서 모아놓으니까 뭔가 더 입체감이 살아있고 압도적인 느낌이 든다 실제로 보면 엄청날듯! 그리고 가족 그림도 과거는 세피아 현재는 컬러로 표현해서 인지 마치 타임루프해서 시간은 다르지만 같은 공간에 조우하고 있는듯한 느낌이 들어서 뭔가 애틋해ㅠㅠ 저도 그런 순간을 바라는 시간대가 있어서 더 와닿는것 같아요
그 산불은 정말 안타까운 일이었고, 많은 동물들이 그 재난으로 세상을 떠났고, 생각하면 가슴이 아팠습니다.

가족이라면 늘 겪는 일. 우리 모두가 겪는 일인데 이렇게 그림으로 마음을 풀어내신 작가님이 대단하게 느껴지네요! 부모가 되고나니 부모님과 오해 때문에 믿음을 져버린 일들이 생각나고 그만큼 더 평소에 잘해야겠단 마음도 들어요. 어머니 초상화에서 있던 글자는 포토샵으로 쉽게 할 작업을 하나하나 테이핑 후에 그림으로 덧그린거라 들으니 더 놀랍구요!!! 좀처럼 전시나 예술작품을 가까이 하기 어려운데 예느 통해서 만날 수 있어서 고마워요!!! 정말 20분여의 시간이 아깝지 않고 영감으로 꽉꽉 채워집니다💙😊
