      Michael thank you for this . I am breathless!
      Michael - regarding how the jnani sees the world . I often wondered who reported the detail of Bhagavan's journey to Arunachala . If Bhagavan reported it ( including other events things He mentioned ) did He use the first person or the third person ??? Thank you 🙏

    Tamils used to name children one of their god's names so every time you call that person remind 'that you are' for the person and for those who come to interact with them. Watching your ego that plays up as 'I am' is the most simple and wonderful practice to become self-aware.

    Dear and respected Michael, your being and knowledge, once again, brought tears to my eyes remembering so many instructive and profound discussions of the past in your forum/blog… which for many of us was the key that opened Sri Bhagavan’s teachings to our understanding of ourselves and reality. To anyone struggling with ramana's teachings, all you have to do is hold on to the feeling of "I" and that's it. I accidentally stumbled upon this technique and I became enlightened on my own in 2 weeks at age 31 (now 34). I didn't go through ego death, as my merging with the universal consciousness was making functioning in the world very challenging, and out of compassion for my family and cat, I decided to stay in the world. So, hold on to the feeling of "I" for a few hours a night after work, and watch it happen. Time will stand still, and everything will look like you're on psychedelics. Love you all ❤️

    If anyone is interested then Swami Sarvapriyananda can be found in conversation on TH-cam with Bernardo Kastrup.. This happened very recently.
    I think that Bernardo is a very significant person indeed . Here we have a very highly qualified scientist philosopher who gives compelling evidence for Idealism. This was bound to happen because Quantum Physics seems to be catching up with the aeons old philosophy of Advaita Vedanta. Advaita doesn't need scientific validation as it stands alone .
    Personally I think we are on the cusp of a change in scientific outlook that will be more profound than Heliocentrism. Bernardo in my humble opinion is one of the forerunners of this cultural change .
    I am hoping that our Blessed Michael will be able to chat with Bernardo . That will be a treat indeed 🙂. 🙏🕉️

    Just as I was realising this I began noticing certain changes in me. I realised world is a play of energy. Shivas cosmic dance.
    Then I suddenly stopped because I was beginning to be pulled apart from my family .
    Then I realised I have duties to my family.
    I can't get into this without fulfilling responsibilities to family.
    So I request you to spread message to everybody to get into vedanta only after fulfilling family responsibilities.

      Fulfilling duty to family is also nondual. It only feels like being pulled away because of latent attachment to a projection of what spiritual life ought to be. Let go of subtle projections and be a nondual householder. Householders can be fully immersed in the nondual because nonduality is simply the truth.

    Most respected swami ji. We have received adequate Explanations and analyses. Can you state what one has to DO to obtain “Brahman” “pure advaita” or “pure consciousness”? WHAT that is well and clearly described . DONE. But With the sole exception of Bhagavan Ramana Rishi no one has actually attained “pure awareness”. Have they? That is so because we do not know what exactly you want us to DO.

      This comprehensive liberation that Bhagavan Maha Rama Rishi achieved at the age of 16 can be achieved by anybody (as per Advaita) and this liberation comprises of three components:
      The first is what we term "Enlightenment" in Sanskrit - a realization of reality, where individuals confidently state, "I have seen it" or "I get it." But, intellectually realising the truth of reality alone isn't sufficient;
      two more components are vital:
      The second is "Vasana," the purification of the mind, involving the eradication of past impressions.
      The third, "Manasa," signifies the destruction of the mind, allowing for deep meditation, an advanced form known as Samadhi.
      In accordance with this text, achieving full-blown liberation in this lifetime necessitates understanding the truth of one's nature as Atman Brahman or pure consciousness. This realization must be vivid, clear, and beyond doubt. The second component involves transforming an impure mind, a result of life conditioning, into a pure mind. This requires dedicated ethical living, manifesting the enlightenment realization through a morally upright life. The third component is intensive meditation training to prevent the mind from wavering and to maintain focus on reality in Samadhi.
      Complete enlightenment is attained when all three components are developed. Such an enlightened individual would not morally falter. The text also distinguishes between those on a progressive path and those with direct realization, asserting that those who have followed a progressive path experience full-blown enlightenment. For others, stumbling upon enlightenment requires a deep inquiry, after which intensifying spiritual practices, maintaining a moral life, exercising self-restraint, and deepening meditation are recommended to stay with the newfound truth.

    if nothing is there and consciousness is by default just plain blank, what is point of being in blank state. Won't it become bored of just being in a blank state ? If enlightment means just blank awarness and nothing else what is point of realising that ? Can someone explain please. I am a bit confused

    • @next-topgaming
      @next-topgaming ปีที่แล้ว

      @John McDonald Thanks for the explanation. If the inherent nature of consciousness is joy and peaceful, why it created ego ( if there is only consciousness then ego has to come from it only) in the first place. Why it projected world from itself and then entangled itself in it. If it comes out of entanglement from ego and maya or whatever it is , will it stay like that forever or after some time go back to ego and the same cycle repeats. ( i don't know what that really is - but from various books and videos my understanding is - " realising oneself to be pure consciousness and not associating with the avatar in the waking world, dream world and sleep is the essence of that") . So will an enlightened person after some amount of time again go back to ego and maya ? . Why consciousness created or projected the world , why does it do that. why it cannot be just remain as is in joy and peace ?

    • @next-topgaming
      @next-topgaming ปีที่แล้ว

      @John McDonald The whole vedantha way of understanding this relies on logical reasoning. For example, since there can be nothing apart from consciousness, the world is not real and so on. Hence it relies on questioning and reasoning to come to the conclusions. The logical reasoning breaks down when questions arise on what creates ego ( or the illusion of ego) . What is the need for consciousness to explore itself by limiting itself to bounded objects in the world. I think only by taking a third person view, it can inspect itself. Why it is doing so and for what, that i think nobody knows. The problem of conciousness , i think it still open.

    Bhagawan did clarify sleep can not be pure awareness alone as it would amount to enlightenment and therefore there is ignorance in sleep of one's true nature In enlightenment that ignorance is destroyed so one knows both the Self and the ignorance of the Self - both are the Self ! Bhagawan was why he snored and he said he liked snoring - indicating awareness of snoring while in sleep !

    Bhagawan also clarified that deep sleep continues and underlies waking & dream states ! Deep sleep is Brahman + ignorance. Waking /dream are Brahman + ignorance + waking /dream. Sleep is avarana or hiding of reality. Waking & dream have a projection rooted in the ignorance of sleep that continues to underlie the waking & dream states. I am not able to clearly recall in which book of Bhagawan I read this but I do recall like this.

    So nothing exists at all? Life then seems, with all the incredible suffering, war, rape, murder, etc etc to be a pretty pointless and horrifying phenomenon then.
    I understand nondual ideas but if there’s nothing at all in the end, what’s the point of all the suffering.
    Age old question I know.
    If there’s no “me” to begin with how do “I” have any will?
    God is everything but there’s a false me too?
    We are god but there’s also a “me” that has a will that can surrender to god or not?
    How’s that work?
    1:34:49
    Who the we that’s the problem and solution?
    Please don’t get me wrong. I love the non-dual message, but clearly I don’t understand

    • @SriRamanaTeachings
      @SriRamanaTeachings  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Namaskaram,
      Bhagavan and Advaita Vedanta do not teach that there is nothing at all. What Bhagavan says in the seventh paragraph of Nāṉ Ār? (Who am I?) is:
      www.happinessofbeing.com/nan_yar.html#para07
      யதார்த்தமா யுள்ளது ஆத்மசொரூப மொன்றே.
      yathārtham-āy uḷḷadu ātma-sorūpam oṉḏṟē.
      What actually exists is only ātma-svarūpa [the real nature of oneself].
      In other words, what we actually are is what alone actually exists. This is what is referred to in the Chāndōgya Upaniṣad 6.2.1-2 as ‘ēkam ēva advitīyam’ (one only without a second). It is not nothingness (śūnyatā) but fullness (pūrṇatva).
      Suffering, war, rape, murder, pointlessness and all other phenomena seem to exist only in the view of ourself as ego. In waking and dream, when we rise and stand as ego, all this seems to exist, whereas in sleep, when we do not rise as ego, nothing other than ourself, ‘I am’, seems to exist.
      What is real must always exist and shine, and that is only our own being, ‘I am’, which exists and shines throughout waking, dream and sleep. Therefore whatever appears and disappears is not real. Why then should we look for or expect to find any point or purpose in what is not real? Since it does not actually exist, it cannot actually have any purpose. If we want to find real purpose, we can find it only in what is real, namely ourself.
      Ego appears in waking and dream but disappears in sleep, so it is not real. It does not actually exist, but merely seems to exist. However, it is not entirely unreal, because it contains within itself an element of reality, which is what alone actually exists. That is, ego is what is aware of itself as ‘I am this body’, and in this false awareness what is real is only the fundamental and ever-existing awareness ‘I am’, which is sat-cit, pure being (sat) and pure awareness (cit).
      Therefore, if we want to know and to be what alone is real, all we need to do is to look deep within ourself. That is, we should attend only to our own being, ‘I am’, because by doing so we as ego will subside and dissolve back into and as sat-cit, which alone is what we always actually are.
      Therefore the answer to your question, ‘Who [is] the we that’s the problem and solution?’, is that we as ego (the false awareness ‘I am this body’) are the problem, and we as sat-cit (the real awareness ‘I am’) are the solution. So long as we attend to anything other than ourself, we seem to be ego, but when we attend to ourself alone, we will see that we are nothing other than sat-cit, which is ‘ēkam ēva advitīyam’ (one only without a second).
      So long as we rise and stand as ego, we seem to have a will of our own, and God seems to be something other than ourself, so we need to surrender our will to his will. However, though we can surrender our will to some extent so long as we remain as ego, we cannot surrender it entirely without surrendering ourself. Surrendering ourself means surrendering ego, and since ego is a false awareness of ourself, we can surrender it only by being aware of ourself as we actually are.
      Therefore, in order to be aware of ourself as we actually are and thereby to surrender ego entirely, we need to investigate what we actually are, ‘Who am I?’, and we can investigate what we actually are only by attending wholly and exclusively to our own being, ‘I am’.
      Namo Ramanaya
      🙏🙏🙏
