The thought i am, thinking it appears to be an ego existing is the false awareness reality. Pure awareness without the I am free from name and form thought. Thanks to the team that replied to my email and thanks to Michael for answering my question about Buddhism. So I have done further research and found that the concept of self does exist in Buddhism and it is called Chitta. It’s possible Annata refers to the ego self and it’s also possible some dilute exegesis has become apparent. I would like to use this opportunity to recommend listening or reading to the book what the Buddha taught by Rahula Walpola and I would extremely recommend the book on the life of the great Buddhist acetic Acaria Mun Bhuridatta Thera Both files are on TH-cam and both refer to the citta as the self so there is some confusion within Buddhist schools mainly due to the passage of time. In Buddhism (Pali / Theraveda), chitta represents mental factors that establish the quality of objects. All things exist because of dependencies on other things, including what we think of as ourself. When other objects no longer exist, emptiness is the result. So, Chitta in Buddhism is not the same thing as Atma in Hinduism. Hindu Atma is eternal, immutable, infinite, while Ahamkara is the false ego (self). Buddhist Chitta is mind (also manas), which is impermanent.

Hello. I've recently started watching Michael's videos and as a novice to spiritual awakening and Sri Ramana teachings really enjoy the in-depth explanations. This video in particular brought about some ' aha' moments, a kind of deeper understanding, although I couldn't repeat what was said if anyone asked me.😅 After listening, that evening I became " ill" of sorts. I couldn't sleep all night, felt irritated with the smallest things, completely out of sorts. Felt like I was hit by a bus. It has happened before that after watching a video about spiritual awakening or Bagavan's teachings I feel "sick". Michael, any thoughts on this? Anyone with any experiences?

With all due respect, this is NOT the dream that probably you, or I imagined. There is an ego here, NOT our own. It has latched onto us/our minds. That is why Ramana has taught us to put our attention on silence/ourselves NOT our minds. This ego cannot penetrate that, this ego (not of our own doing) can infiltrate the mind. Group think… This ego is Pishacha, that’s exactly what Ramana says.

I am pondering (manana) the magnificent ONENESS of it All ... one Self, one ego, one mind; all while appearing as "many". The only ONE is knowing itself as the many. And the cause-less "ego" is the first cause of the whole phantasm. Perhaps "ego" appears spontaneously like quarks appear from the quantum ground. It is the Ananda of Sat Chit to have the enjoyment of itself in infinite manifestation (Vishnu dreaming the worlds). But at some point, quarks disappear, and Vishnu awakens again, and the Self is just ... the Self alone (All One).😮

As Ramana said, and is shown when you asked each, "what the meaning of life is?", is that all are seeking happiness. Regardless of how or by what venue one seeks happiness, it all breaks down to: every one is seeking happiness. By whatever means they think they attain happiness. However, as Ramana taught, all is for not, because the world (maya) can not provide anything but temporary happiness. Only the "self", found through vichara, "Who am I", will we find Reality, and thereby unveil us to "happiness" eternal. For happiness is what we are truly. Have always been. And will always be. Whether we realize it in this life, of a billion lives from now. That happiness that we truly are, is merely veiled. Until it is no longer veiled. And know that we are that we are and have always been and shall always be. Happiness.
Ego appears when I am able to see it. When what I am thinks ego exists what am I ? If ego doesn’t exist who can say I am ego? If what I am appears and witnesses the sleeping body, breathing I am aware that body is not dead know that only I am a body sees ego. Nothing sees nothing, only I thought I did. Because I thought that I was a body mind I thought I slept, I dream and I wake up. What thought I am a living breathing body, sleeping and waking ? I am is only awareness that I am is not the body identity. cx
Hello Michael.. 🙏 I read somewhere that Bhagavan Sri Ramana said , that if at the moment of death one remembers God or one's chosen deity or if their name is recited or remembered while dying, then the liberation happens by merging in that God, as in , one becomes God by merging in the God.. So those who singlemindedly and with devotion, remember and recite God's name at the moment of death ? Do they get liberated? Did Bhagavan say that ??
I believe Michael has referred to the time of death as a potentially opportune time for annihilation of the ego. Bhagavan referred to an ‘opportune time’ in verse one of Aruṇācala Aṣṭakam. And if time, change, is unreal, it would make sense that Michael says that right now is always the most opportune time to practice self-investigation. But if we are reciting a name, we are still holding form and cannot turn within completely.
@johnmcdonald260 Yes, I could see how our grasping would increase but on the other hand, we are then forcibly separated from the body so that could be the chance needed for someone who has been sincerely practicing.

This is all a bit abstract to me, not sure what is meant by form and by ego I am not sure what that means either. The issue of discussing phenomena like ego is that we treat it like some object we can observe but it doesn't seem it can be observed and more so a way of functioning in relation to others of our lives. idk

Why does it look like Raman maharsi was in constant hallucinations. Might be he mistaken hallucinations as enlightenment thats why he says he saw many gods shiva krishna which is merely imaginary mind images.
I would equate that to the experience of samadhi rather than an hallucinatory state. I have personally witnessed people experiencing hallucinations and it looks very different, much more disturbing.

As Ramana said, and is shown when you asked each, "what the meaning of life is?", is that all are seeking happiness. Regardless of how or by what venue one seeks happiness, it all breaks down to: every one is seeking happiness. By whatever means they think they attain happiness.
However, as Ramana taught, all is for not, because the world (maya) can not provide anything but temporary happiness. Only the "self", found through vichara, "Who am I", will we find Reality, and thereby unveil us to "happiness" eternal.
For happiness is what we are truly. Have always been. And will always be. Whether we realize it in this life, of a billion lives from now. That happiness that we truly are, is merely veiled. Until it is no longer veiled. And know that we are that we are and have always been and shall always be. Happiness.
Ego appears when I am able to see it. When what I am thinks ego exists what am I ?
If ego doesn’t exist who can say I am ego?
If what I am appears and witnesses the sleeping body, breathing I am aware that body is not dead know that only I am a body sees ego. Nothing sees nothing, only I thought I did.
Because I thought that I was a body mind I thought I slept, I dream and I wake up. What thought I am a living breathing body,
sleeping and waking ?
I am is only awareness that I am is not the body identity. cx

I read somewhere that Bhagavan Sri Ramana said , that if at the moment of death one remembers God or one's chosen deity or if their name is recited or remembered while dying, then the liberation happens by merging in that God, as in , one becomes God by merging in the God..
So those who singlemindedly and with devotion, remember and recite God's name at the moment of death ?
Do they get liberated?
Did Bhagavan say that ??
I believe Michael has referred to the time of death as a potentially opportune time for annihilation of the ego. Bhagavan referred to an ‘opportune time’ in verse one of Aruṇācala Aṣṭakam. And if time, change, is unreal, it would make sense that Michael says that right now is always the most opportune time to practice self-investigation.
But if we are reciting a name, we are still holding form and cannot turn within completely.
@johnmcdonald260 Yes, I could see how our grasping would increase but on the other hand, we are then forcibly separated from the body so that could be the chance needed for someone who has been sincerely practicing.

What is this "sleep" that has no body consciousness? If your body is shaken, do you not wake up?
This is all a bit abstract to me, not sure what is meant by form and by ego I am not sure what that means either. The issue of discussing phenomena like ego is that we treat it like some object we can observe but it doesn't seem it can be observed and more so a way of functioning in relation to others of our lives. idk
This ego what we call cannot be eliminated completely sounds very absurd isn’t. Yes. Little bit of it keeps us alive. , In deep sleep mind goes to laya( dorment state. We cannot say. Why does it look like Raman maharsi was in constant hallucinations. Might be he mistaken hallucinations as enlightenment thats why he says he saw many gods shiva krishna which is merely imaginary mind images.
I would equate that to the experience of samadhi rather than an hallucinatory state. I have personally witnessed people experiencing hallucinations and it looks very different, much more disturbing.
