    I don’t typically like these full ride type of videos but the way you made this video is so high quality and it’s really 😎. And it also helps a lot to know what to expect. Thank you again. Keep up the good work. I know it’s a lot of work.

    Training for weight loss, so this route is part of a 100 mile ride i do twice a week. My heart rate is off the charts the whole time, and ive crashed a couple of times overcooking sandy sections. This video is in some ways more enjoyable than the actual ride, just kick back and enjoy 😊😊😊

    I rode this back in 2018, but I don't remember taking the long way around the marina. Whew!. Someone showed me a shortcut apparently. I started in Manhattan Beach and rode past Venice. I remember just using the street from the marina to Washington Ave.

      Well done friend! Completing this ride without an E-bike, on a rusty rental. Nice! The one way ride is extremely nice (I find the wind to be behind you when riding in the direction of this video) but if you hit the coastal headwind on the way back that's guaranteed to be a quad buster!

    Thanks for posting this video. I regularly ride Marina del Rey to Torrance Beach and back (26.3 mi.), but I was looking for a way to tag on some add'l miles without having to ride into Palos Verdes (hills!!), so I'm now considering doing this ride as an out-and-back for a 43-mi. ride. Thanks and keep enjoying the great bike rides!

      I’m excited for you to try the full ride! It does get quite busy through Santa Monica/Venice and then opens up from Marina Del Rey. Be aware of that and you’ll have a great time!

    Amazing how much info you added to this. I've ridden this path basically my entire life and wanted to add a few notes:
    • Do all you can to avoid riding this path between SM Pier and Venice/Washington Blvd. on a summer weekend. It's a death trap. More congested than you can possibly imagine and so many people are beyond clueless.
    • Instead of crossing Admiralty Way and continuing on the path through the parking lots, I've always felt it's much safer to turn left on Admiralty and ride that stretch in the road. Plenty of room. Going back the other way is a little tougher for novice/path riders because you have to make that left from Fiji and there's not as much room on Admiralty.
    • The bridge over Ballona Creek used to be a sublime stopping point. So many interesting people hanging out, riders of all levels. They fenced up the sidewalk years ago and I guess aren't planning to bring it back. Such a shame.
    • If you have a choice of starting from the south or starting from the north, start from the south. The wind will be MUCH friendlier.

    Thank you for the excellent video. I'll be visiting LA in a week and plan to ride from Torrance to Santa Monica Pier and back. Now I know I should be expecting some pedestrian traffic and lot of sand along the way. Looking forward to abundant sunshine and ocean breezes too! And is helmet optional in LA? I'd say 90% of cyclists in the video were not wearing a helmet.

    Great Video. 2 Questions: Are you peddling or using an Ebike? Next, in the Redondo Beach Tunnel, are you walking or riding the bike extremely slow?

    • @TrailsofCalifornia
      @TrailsofCalifornia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question. I was peddling the whole time when recording this, no E-bike. But that's a great option. Truthfully, when I was in the tunnel I was still on my bike (to maintain recording quality, the camera bounces when I walk) but slowed way down to walking speed. Well under 5mph.

    • @TrailsofCalifornia
      @TrailsofCalifornia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you can show your mom the ride! The colors on the mini-map only indicate crossing from one city border to the next. For example as your ride from Santa Monica to Venice Beach the color changes from green to red. Most speed limits on bike paths are normally no higher than 10-12mph. Pay attention to those signs. I hope that answers your question!

    Planning to bike this trail from Manhattan to Venice Beach and back. Just curious, why are you off trail at Venice beach to Marina del Rey? Does the Marvin Braude Bikeway gets cut off there? Thanks in advance!

    • @TrailsofCalifornia
      @TrailsofCalifornia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! So Marina Del Rey itself acts as a break in the coastline. The path has to veer away from the coast and around the entire marina to reconnect with the bikeway in Playa Del Rey and on to Manhattan beach. This is the official route and why the video goes “off trail”.

    just wondering, is it easy to get monetized to do these types of videos. i am a newbie on youtube and am thinking of doing the same kind of thing. what camera do you recommend: gopro10, 360 degree camera, both or something else? thank you.

    • @TrailsofCalifornia
      @TrailsofCalifornia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excited to hear you want to start a channel! To be completely honest. From my experience it can be difficult with this type of content. But if you focus on quality over quantity you will get there. TH-cam takes a lot of commitment outside of your usual life. Think of it as a 2nd job. Learning about equipment, your filming style, learning editing software, uploading, social media etc etc. There’s a lot that goes into it. It takes a ton of time to develop!
      My advice (and what I did) is to not worry about monetizing when starting out. Like at all. Focus on creating content that adds value to your potential viewers. Even if it’s just one person. Because even when a channel reaches the minimum threshold for monetization it’s still pennys per day. So imo helping others is more valuable than the income you will initially receive.
      I use the GoPro suit of camera to film all my videos and adobe premier pro to edit! I hope this helps. You can always reach out via the channels email address if you want to continue the conversation! Happy to give what advice I can give 🙂

    • @mistyluv261
      @mistyluv261 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks so much for the info. to be specific, how long (in months) and number of views/subscribers did it take before you started making even just a few pennies. then, how long and how many views/subscribers did it take before you made over $100 per month? thank you so much. i am totally new into all of this. oh, lastly, do i need to get that software to edit. i just want to upload the socal beach riding videos with music. not sure how i would do that yet.

    • @TrailsofCalifornia
      @TrailsofCalifornia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mistyluv261 The minimum threshold to monetize a new channel is 1k subscribers and 4K watch hours in the last 12 months. I don’t know when I’ll reach a $100p/m. I’m not there yet.
      You will need software. iMovie works for very very basic edits but is good because it comes pre installed on a Mac. Adobe premier pro is the ultimate editing software but it does come with a monthly subscription fee. However it’ll add way more professionalism to your uploads. Hope that helps!

    • @TrailsofCalifornia
      @TrailsofCalifornia  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mistyluv261 oh and yes, it took 4 years for me to even hit that minimum threshold. However, depending on how good you are at marketing/social media/promotion you could and likely would get there way faster. That was something I neglected/didn’t prioritize at all. My focus remained on just making a good base
      Of quality videos and I naturally saw more viewers as time went on. Quick growth was never the most important consideration for me. There are a ton of marketing/promotional tutorials all over Yt you can learn from!
