    As of 22 July 2023 the SART is very safe, doesn't smell anymore, generally a really good ride. The only bad thing about clearing the homeless population and "rerouting" the trail as you put it, they removed all of the public restrooms. Even the porta pottys that were a bit further up the trail. Oh well, it's a much better ride now. Thanks for the cool video, I'm going to have to go south a bit now. I live close to Angel Stadium but this video showed me some good stuff

      And thank you for watching! The south side is a very nice ride once you start smelling the ocean air. Some parks, open spaces etc. Hope you get a chance to check it out!

      @@TrailsofCalifornia Gotcha! Yea, just whenever you get a chance!
      I used to work in Newport Beach a few feet from the Newport Back Bay and never stop to check it out. Drove by everyday for 13 years and never took the time to check it out. I'll do it soon tho...
      i did Trails #1 & #3, and you're absolutely right about the Wind in the afternoon it's extremely windy so bring Vest/Windbreaker if possible. Went from Bolsa Chica State Beach to Huntington and went through the Santa Ana riverbed all the way to Anaheim & back in time for Bon Fires at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Not sure if they allow Overnight parking/camping on the beach now but it used to be Overnight beach parking/camping $45 per Vehicle. Probably a lil too fast for a Date, but fun experience with significant others or partner.

    Liked! FANTASTIC! Exactly what I needed for a Valentine's day ride with my wife. We have to drive 90 minutes to get to these locations but happy to do so to make it a day. Question: Are any of these paths in a loop so that one can start and end at the same point, but not have to backtrack on the same path? Thanks again.

    • @TrailsofCalifornia
      @TrailsofCalifornia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great news! I hope you two have a great Valentine’s Day. The only real “loop” trail on this list will be the Shady Canyon/turtle rock loop in south Irvine. It’s a beautiful route that takes you in and out of the wilderness. The loop will also take you along the 405 on the north end so see if you can spot it when traveling to it!
      I have a map in the video describing this route for the full loop. So check that out! Have fun!

    • @TrailsofCalifornia
      @TrailsofCalifornia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Note: there’s one hill in particular that is pretty steep at the end of the ride (if traveling the direction this video recommends) outside of “quail hill community park”. Otherwise the rest is very flat. An ebike may be a good option as well for an easier loop!

      As far as guides go, I personally reference this book quite often. "enCYCLEpedia Southern California 2nd Edition" You can find it on Amazon. I have no affiliation to it but it's a great book. It breaks down bike routes in LA, OC, SD and the Inland Empire. Definitely worth the $20.00!
      "Franko Maps" are also great bike specific maps for the entire region. You might find them in local bike stores like I have or also on amazon. They appear in my videos from time to time. In fact, they appeared a few times in this one.

    Although pristine and beautiful as the video indicates, the Huntington Beach path is not so safe. Since this video was posted there has been a proliferation of persons riding electric things: Ebikes, E unicycle things, E skate boards, etc. These persons move at great rates of speed with no regard to bicycle riders and pedestrians. The expecirence of pedaling a beach cruiser along this path has essentially been ruined.
