  • Just had a clean up and dragged this old beauty out from the cobwebs. It was a fit for purpose GMH Woodville maintenance shop machine for the Briggs and Stratton 6 cut sidebar locksets that were in use in Holden vehicles in the 60s/70s and 80s. Still works well but needs a few minor parts to make her whole again. Might do a complete strip down and clean and give the ol' girl some new lip stick.

      Thanks Bear. Yeah, i agree totally. There's an appreciation of the feel, sound and an accomplishment that the operator has had a mechanical input into the end product. Unlike a Silca Unicode, Futurer or a Triax machine which are all electronic and sterile. Cheers:-)

    Very nice bit of memorabilia there. I'm sure people in the Holden Club would be interested to know the keys can still be cut in an original machine and that you have them lion keys. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, cheers

      Thanks Mur. Yeah, Briggs and Stratton were big in the automotive lock game back in the day. GMH Australia was a part of the US GM group so they shared their product line. I could imagine you pulling up at the casino in your Pontiac and throwing your valet key at the valet and barking, "hey boy! park the car and don't scratch it!" lol. Thinking a pale green for the lipstick. Saw a photo of a refurbed Ilco and it looked pretty slick. Have a good one:-)

    Awesome video Paul. I love that old beauty. As for BS, here in the States they are well known for lawn mowers.
    The Commodore vehicles, were they made by Chrysler?
    Anyway, staying away from sick people. Love you my good friend!

    • @crankylock7844
      @crankylock7844  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Angelo. They still have lawn mowers for sale now down here with the Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke. Our OZ lawn mower is the Victor 2 stroke. The Commodores were a Holden built vehicle( owned by General Motors). W e used to have a Chrysler factory at Tonsley Park, Adelaide back in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Then Mitsubishi took them over and finally ceased production in the early 2000s. Unfortunately Holdens closed their doors in November 2017. They used to employ around 5000 locals up here in the hood. The new Commodores are made overseas now. Anyway, take care my friend and as always love to you, Christine, Jen and family:-)

    That was Awesome!! Cool old rig ! I could imagine a talented machinist could make you some code wheels, might cost you a kidney though ;P I can picture it with "micrometer" plates, so you could use it for any lock system as long as you know the space and depth info. That would be awesome! Kinda like a framon key machine..

      Thanks Gary. I am going to strip the ol' girl down and give her a bath and some new lipstick in the near future. It is more laboursome than the Blitz but achieves the same end outcome. It's a hands on machine which i find more tactile and more satisfying. It's an age thing. lol. Cheers:-)
