Welch took the 80s mantra Greed is Good then ran with it. Suddenly in the 1990s Greed wasn’t as Good and the future looked bad. Welch the architect saw the future and pulled his golden parachute leaving Immelt holding the bag, looking bad. I’ve heard this from guys who survived Welch’s reign of terror. Credit, Banking & Real Estate destroyed GE, otherwise I believe it would still be one company, not 3 separate takeover targets.
He also didn’t invent the light bulb he pitches the patent and had 50 of his minions working on it and took at the credit....
This is a bummer, i hhavve a 31% gain on my position with GE. I invested just by seeing the graphs without much of background. Should i close my position?

Welch and immelt trashed a once great company. I think culp can turn it around but nowhere near her former glory.
Here’s an idea: when producing a brief history of a great American company, don’t narrate it with a vaguely intelligible Indian accent.
