You forgot to mention that this is the FIRST time that Princess has put a SOFA couch in standard balcony cabins ..FINALLY a place to sit, eat, and put your stuff on..our other cabins on the Regal, Crown & Enchanted Princess had a bed & desk..this was super better!!...AND the first time Princess has put glass enclosed showers in the bathrooms....yes, a bit tight, but 100% improvement over the Royal Class cabins, which were the worst we've ever stayed in...I shave in the shower, and what a mess I made every time I shaved...now, SUCCESS! And loved the couch, which was nowhere to be found on other Princess ships...wonderful...and yes, Janice Martin was super...DON'T miss Viva La Musica latin dance show...fabulous!! Nice review..we LOVED the Sun..blows away the Regal, Enchanted & Crown Princess IMO...
Wow! Our usual Princess embarkations are very orderly and fast. Probably a Port Everglades problem. Agree with you about the medallion. It was excellent.

Been on 15 Princess cruises. Your embarkation experience is pretty standard. We giggle every time we see the large groups scrambling around to get a wheelchair for people who walk up with little problem then use that wheelchair as their free faster to the fun pass. If you show up an hour prior to last boarding you walk through the process barely having to stop. The medallion experience is next level.
Like most new ships, I am sure that the Sun Princess is still working out its kinks. From what I understand they have moved a lot of venues around which worked more smoothly. Princess showers have mostly been small unless you are in a mini suite or higher. At least there are glass doors instead of the curtain that likes to get personal :) I think once this ship gets its programs and people settled down it will be an amazing cruise ship to be on. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be near the west coast for a few years. I don't know why by usually the west coast doesn't get the newer ships - except we did get on the Discovery last year and it was so nice. But I cruised NCL, Carnival, Royal Caribbean (including Perfect Day at Coco Cay), earlier this year and jumping back on Carnival Celebration (2nd comped with Carnival this year), in November, which will be my 30th overall Cruise in about 12 years. A good friend of mine does only Princess and another friend and his wife only do HAL. Looking to get back to Royal's Coco Cay early next year, ..... had a blast! The shower would be a problem for my husband. We sailed on a Celebrity cruise ship many years back and he kept banging the doors open, our attendant had to give us large pool towels to soak up the water.
How wonderful to watch your first impressions of Princess! Maybe Jamie can put some soap on the sides of the shower and spin to wash himself! Seriously, we hope you have a fantastic time!
Nice review, thanks for sharing. I've also witnessed that departure line chaos last year when Caribbean Princess had a sailing. Passed by it in a shuttle for our Celebrity cruise. Wonder how often that happens there.
I highly suggest entering the Eatery buffet on the right vs the left as it was less crowded and chaotic. The flow of the buffet was choppy as far as food types and their order, it wasn’t clear where to stand to request your food, and the food description signs were way too small and hard to read. Lots of good food though, I recommend the cheese plate and watermelon salad for starters and of course the dessert choices. I agree about the room. I had a deluxe balcony and there was great storage but that bathroom was super tight. 🫣 And I would have preferred a simple night light versus the annoying motion light in there too. Ordering the 12 bottles of water prior to the cruise was well worth it because getting bottled water can be challenging depending on where you are on the ship (like being stuck in a long bar line). And bring a tablet if you like apps like Netflix, TH-cam TV, Roku, etc. as you can’t hook up or stream to the TV. Staff was friendly and the entertainment was good, I enjoyed my cruise on the Sun Princess.
Enjoyed the peek! Had the same embarkation situation on Sky Princess last year - don’t really like sailing out of Fort Lauderdale anymore and it used to be our favorite port. The shower on the regular balcony cabin on Princess as always been a size problem and why we always book a mini-suite, although deluxe balcony might be okay? Don’t know.

This is definitely NOT the norm for Princess, We normally walk right on the ship at 11am and right to lunch! Please give Princess another chance on one of the other ships, Majestic Princess is my favorite!
Onboarding experience was worst due to was transatlantic before you and Folks getting off since came from Europe took longer through immigration and customs. Princess now has open boarding time, usually I come around lunch and walk right through, later the faster. Never had a long line, been on 16 cruises.
The cruise before us was a 3 day cruise..the transatlantic disembarkation was Friday the 12th...our cruise left Monday the 14th.. They may need to go back to staggered arrival times for this ship...
Princess got so much hate for shower curtains. Surprised they would have such a small shower on a new ship. Wonder if the cabana rooms have similar space in bathrooms?
Do you mean when it shows the occupants outside the door on the medallion pad?? That was cool but I think it only shows the pictures when it picks up your medallion nearby, but I see what you mean.
Sun Princess is by far the worst Princess ship we spent 21 days on her venues are all to small lines of people everywhere even to try and get a coffee so many people om board we couldn't even sit up at the pools and the music at the pool and in the atrium is so loud its hard to have a conversation people on our cruise with cabins near the atrium complained of not being able to sleep .The whole cruise felt like being on a Carnival cruise ship if you love Princess we could never recommend this ship its so disappointing for someone who has cruised with Princess for 30 years

In 2022, we cruised Royal out of Fort Everglades. Similar experience. No real line, people cutting in, line didn’t move etc.

All those strobe lights would make the entertainment unwatchable for my wife
