Once you get to your second loop is more of a alive or dead sort of thing. There is no middle ground
and then lastly it becomes a benchmark software for how long you can stay alive until your game crashes

The 1 change I NEED for vanilla game is a setting to enable complex descriptions of items. Instead of "Chance to fire a missile" say "10% chance to fire a missile for 300% damage (+300% per stack)". Descriptions like that already exist in the game logbook/compendium, so it would be painfully easy to just display those.
honestly one of the best changes QOL mods made.
That and bringing back RoR1 items.
I cant play without this mod and the one that adds auto sprint.
Who decided to make a game in 2022 without a "toggle sprint"? ffs.

@@VoidAcrid Yup, I use it all the time. It's lovely. It's called BetterUI by XoXFaby if anyone is curious. Seriously cannot play without that mod. But it's such an easy change that it NEEDS to be in the next update

One of my favorite things about the devs is when there was a prominent bandit mod for ro2, a character from ro1, when the dev team wanted to make it a base game character in ro2 they said "nah we don't want to step on their toes" AND MADE AN ENTIERLY DIFFRENT VERSION SO THE MOD WAS STILL WORTH IT. goat devs
they also promoted modding since Early access.

Except that shits on console players who now have to use the gimped version of the character that they made worse so as to not upset modders that could have just reworked their character themselves if they wanted, or simply chosen to use the official character.

Rushing the boss after getting like 1 or 2 items is usually the correct strat.
Loaders or for me the bandit, the skill recharge shot and the invis can get crazy
Man, rex slaps. He's unique in that he uses hp as a resource. You have to use his special (the flower that binds enemies and gives you their hp) to keep up.
For real. Despite using HP as a resource, Rex has the most consistent survivability of all the characters (except void fiend).
Rex is fire, hard disagree with scott on this one. Maybe he just had a bad experience with him.
Rex is cool but the way you have to get him is pain
First Long Road was with rex. I'll never forget it.
rex is pretty fun in monsoon but they are completely useless in e8, by far the worst and least fun character for eclipse

What does he really say rex sucks? Jesus christ man talk about a lack of understanding of the games systems. Im always happy for more exposure for this game but I hate when youtubers calling attention to a game deem entirely worthwhile characters not powerful enough. Especially in this case where rex is easily one of the strongest characters ffs.

@@yungoldman2823 I mean, he even showed his monsoon skinned chars and 8k coins... he has SOME understanding of the game, but probably didn't get the feel of rex, leading to the slander.
All jokes aside, all of the Dragonball character mods are some of the most well designed characters I have seen in this game
goku is mad jank and extremely overpowered but I like playing him anyway

I can relate to this alot, I'm a Acrid Main so I love stacking speed items to go flying around the map.
I recently had a sleepover and we grinded till we actually unlocked Acrid and we all just flew around, it was great.

I've been trying so damn hard to get my friends into this game. I bought it for one of my friends, and it hooked him right away. It's only a matter of time for the infection to spread.
Best thing about ror2 for me are the mods, it's hilarious to play as a t posing tf2 scout and have everything within a 5 km radius explode without touching a single key

I recommend anyone that enjoys living, listen to Chris Christodoulou’s soundtrack of this and the first game. He is an incredible composer and deserves as much love as he can get. Any game he helps on is an automatic purchase for me just because of the soundtrack.
Coalescence, The rain formerly known as purple, and …con lentitud poderosa are some of the best game soundtracks I’ve EVER heard. Yes and I mean comparable against games like Doom, dark souls, god of war, etc. I MEAN THE BEST.

Deadbolt is both a fantastic game by Hopoo, but also has my favorite soundtrack by Chris to date, with recent RoR2 stuff coming close.
I would highly suggest looking through not just the ror music he has made, but all of his other songs. He’s done more than Hopoo Games content like the music for an “audiobook” of some sort
Pretty much anything Chris christodoulou makes is god tier music.
Especially the risk of rain 1, 2, survivors of the void and the deadbolt OST.

artificer might be the best character for fighting mithrix, pretty ironic considering her lacking early game
@@cringusmingus I’d say her early game is mostly fine, considering how quickly she can obliterate hordes and bosses alike. I think her only drawback is being a bit of a glass cannon, and swapping Flamethrower for Ion Surge allows you to have mobility great enough to make up for her frailty. Basically lets you keep out of range of all melee attacks. And ranged attacks can be dodged fairly well by suddenly dropping/surging back up again.

I love the fact that you used The Rain Formerly Known As Purple as the background song, because that is 100% THE BEST song in the game.
Also I really love the CC exit animation, super well done and super cute!

I love the focus on Indie games at the moment. I also especially love that you covered Risk of Rain 2, a legitimately amazing and fun game. Why does it seem like roguelikes and arena wave shooters are heavily under valued. So many people don't seem to get on with them but I love them and I appreciate that you do too Scott! Great video as always!

As someone who has 100 percented the game (steam achievements) I can say that hitting shrines of the mountain is the only way to play and this game is one of my favorites ever
Fun fact: playing the cha cha slide over mythrix's fight he will sync up occasionally
This game is so good, I absolutely adore it, despite generally not being a fan of roguelikes and roguelites.
Also the soundtrack is *absolutely incredible.* Chris Christodoulou did an absolutely stellar job on both Risk of Rain 1 and 2.
I'm only upset that Scott didn't mention how crazy Void items are and the other "final boss". Everything was great as always!

So excited to watch this video. I absolutely love risk of rain 2 but it's definitely not without its flaws, it makes my day that you covered this game.
Nothing better than getting that run where you effectively shoot nukes that chain to every target around the one that just died, creating a daisy chain of infinite death while jumping around with your centuple jump that you get from the Hopoo feathers you get. Not to mention the overpowered nature of stacking Teddy Bears making more than half the hits you take do zero damage. Those runs don't happen often, but man you feel the power shift quickly.
It's genuinely pretty surprising how well League champions transition over to Risk of Rain. Some of those mods are an absolute blast to screw around with.
where do you find the LoL character mod ive been looking around and havent been able to find it

@@TheBaxes R2Modman is a good way to find them. On top of that, it can download and install the mods for you while keeping them separate from your steam install. Though, it does mean you have to run the game through the program to play with them.

As a new fan to the Project Moon games, Risk of Ruina has gotta be one of my favorite mods solely for the gameplay of the Red Mist.
And frankly, if you like vertical difficulty spikes, Library of Ruina is a must.

I just got back into this game, so thanks for reaffirming my decision to play this game!
I still fondly remember a vanilla run as Mul-T from when it was still relatively new on Steam. Ended up with around 70 goat hooves, 40 energy drinks, 10 red whips, and 60 soldier syringes. My slow single shot sniper was now a long-range Gatling gun, my machine gun was a rapid-fire shotgun, and my dash attack would just make my screen flash a multitude of colors, before finding myself in the.corner of the skybox behind where I started, and with a ton more credits in my balance. The run ended willingly, as we went through so many loops that enemies stopped spawning. Literally. We would enter a level, there would be 0 mobs. Activate shrine of the mountain and start the teleporter, and nothing would spawn. Just had to wait for the teleport charge up time, in a calm and quiet area. Almost felt like a creepypasta. And this was before the final boss was added in. Or half the maps. Was just an infinite loop of the same 4 or 5 maps, but now empty.
I'd say that'd be "beating the game," back then. 😂

Rex is a beast, definitely my main, best use of backup mag and medkit.
why is rex good with backup mag? it gives you a tiny burst of an ability that already has the shortest possible cooldown. artificer gets an insane boost when using her spear, mul-t with power mode can instantly restore all stacks of their secondary, loader's mobility becomes exponentially better, commando gets a massive damage boost when using his alt secondary, and acrid gets consistent damage from range. rex's use of backup mag is nearly useless, the only survivor that scales with it worse is railgunner
@@cringusmingus he probably mean drill which has a significantly longer cool down, spamming drill is like being able to spamm a mini version of Huntress's arrow main every second.
@@Aquaticul619 backup mag is still awful on rex even if they are using drill, deals almost no damage with a bad proc coefficient
@@cringusmingus for 100% stuff I'd say it's pretty good. Sometines to see how much healing I'd get I would do 8 crit glasses, a couple hunters instinct and a couple harvester'S sycthe. Even with only 1 or 2 harvesters, spamming drill still gets you lots of hp.
Getting a god run in this game is something else. You become part of the games code, melding with the items you have grafted on your flesh. You kill everything in seconds and see that you are truly unstoppable
And then you get killed by a hitscan laser. Thank you risk of rain

Actually there was a LOT of things that could have been said which I'm pretty surprised weren't
1 Music is godly, Chris is an amazing composer
2 Surprised there wasn't a quick overview of all the characters and what they do, plenty of joke could have been made there like "shoot shoot gun man" "1 punch woman" and "acid dog"
3 also surprised there was no joke about the lore considering how much of a bastard providence was, I could totally see the brothers doing something funny in your animation style. Then again I can understand avoiding spoilers considering there was no mention of 「SPOILERS BOSS」
