Wow. I was hopelessly searching for a way to use the user bank 1 volume knob to scroll through VST sounds, and came across one of the best, most well thought out and beautifully coded scripts for a midi interface I've ever seen. I'm blown away, this is ingenious. I wish they had consulted with you personally before producing the FIRE because there are so many features you covered that should have replaced or been printed/created on the controller itself. Especially performance mode, what a joke. 1 question, and then additional feedback if you're interested! - I don't know Python unfortunately, but I see that you have the midi mapped FPT_Up = 40 and FPT_Down = 41. I assume I could somehow select USER 1 on the FIRE, and map the resonance knob to move up or down so I can select different presets/sounds in a 3rd party VST (the preset banks that don't show up in midi out, like Omnisphere or Battery 4). Any ideas? Re: Note Mode - Loved what you did with the single chord buttons. One possible feature in addition to ionian, dual keyboard, etc, is to make the layout mimic a guitar (low string bottom row, high string top row). This would make translating notes effortless, especially with a -1, -2, etc, translator. It would a tab beast. Re: Performance Mode - I think you're spot on trying to turn this into a pedal looper. Possibly an option to record live audio with loop playback, and for that recorded audio to automatically be muted and placed into a channel you can turn on? Haven't thought out logistics, might not be reasonable. I also like the idea of playlist recording the mute/unmute progressions so you can compose the full song with all of the patterns right then and there. Very extra though, you killed this whole thing I'm so impressed.
Thanks for the feedback. I have since added many more features that are not covered in the videos. A lot more. One is similar to yours in that it auto changes the knobs to mixer mode when the mixer is activated. Got it up and going but I noticed something I think should be changed. In pattern mode, the top 2 rows of pads in the work area are for patterns and the bottom 2 rows of pads are for channels, then why in the nav grid (4th bank of 16 pads) are the window navigation pads backwards? First pad is "close all windows", second pad is "channel rack window", and third pad is "playlist window". Wouldn't it make more sense to have the second pad be "playlist window" and the third pad be the "channel rack" since the work area has pads for the playlist above the pads for the channel rack? Hopefully you'll see this and reply or switch it in the next version. Great job though bro! I'm liking it a lot!
In my layout, I put the channel rack to the left so I made it the first window. My PL is then top and mixer bottom so it fits my workflow. If you're feeling adventurous, you can edit the file. There is a line start with "_MacroList = [" if you re-arrange the values, you can set the m in any order.
When I bought the Fire-controller I was disappointed that the velocity didn't worked in FPC. But also all the buttons were blue. So this script will make Fire-controller as it should be. So thank you so much for this script ❤.
You are brilliant. Are you able to write a script for the Akai Fire that will just enable 4 time divisions of note repeat? 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 and 1/64 ? FL doesn't have note repeat and the arpeggiator doesn't separate notes. I will pay you!

Before I ask my question I want to express my infinite gratitude to you, this script is so beautifully put together it’s made my workflow so insanely efficient and I’ve barely even touched the surface on what it can really do. However the default brightness settings are very low and I don’t know how to turn them up, it makes sense to keep them low to seperate things without something seeming on, but with so many colors that are close together a higher brightness is definitely necessary at least for me.

The original is clearly not up to your creation 👏🏼🤌🏼 I wanted to ask, will it be difficult to return the original (or improved) step-sequencer, to the script, through shift + accent? It would be a great refinement that would add functionality to the classics. Also lacking (much more than the sequencer) is the ability to easily use swing. It is simply necessary in convenient and quick access! Thank you for your attention and for the work done, I hope you will still find time and inspiration to refine your script to the point where the mouse will no longer be needed🙏🏼🫶🏼

How did u draw the lines
I used a vinyl cutter to make thin lines but you could also get pinstripe tape and do the same thing.
