LOL but seriously, I am pretty sure I heard monkey woops/howls during an evening hike but I can't really do that hike often to rexperience it, its far far out and you need to be there at dusk, which means finishing in the dark and getting back to my city home close to 1AM, which is obviously possible but not worth it just to be like "oh bigfoot might be way out there":-) It was down in a canyon-like gully and you can't even hike into it anyways

We moved to a wooded area here in Alabama and have a lovely pair of barred owls behind our house. The first time our dogs heard the screeching sound they both took off to the woods with fur standing up . We just enjoy our porch sitting listening to them , the dogs, not so much lol. Such majestic creatures. ❤Thanks for posting this video. This is exactly the sounds we hear every night and sometimes during the day.

Apparently that second call means “Get up off my stoop!!!” 😄
The first time I heard one of these was one night about 3.5 years ago, around 11 o’clock, when I’d just pulled into my driveway. I could tell the sound was coming from behind my house, and it scared the hell out of me. I would not leave my car until I found out what it was. I thought it sounded like a bird, so after asking myself what kind of bird would be up that late, I googled owls and soon stumbled upon this wonderful species. Now I enjoy their calls, and even talk back to them: “Don’t worry about who cooks for me!!” 😆😆💕

Pop quiz hotshots... Why do owls have such skinny legs AND why do they have so much degrees of rotation to turn their heads?
A: Their legs arent skinny, they just appear that way compared to their overfluff bodies AND because they dont have eye muscles to move them about, so they rely on their extraordinary large degree of rotation of their necks / heads to keep all in check. You'd think they'd evolve just a little in the eye department by now, who knows why. Just like as humans we will evolve eventually without pinky fingers, in a couple million years or so. But we can prevent that from happening if keyboard designers made them manditory, like to pinky finger print every couple of words or so with special keys, or maybe do away with the 10 key and place the numbers along the outside standard qweety layout as we know it today. OR, put CTRL, ALT, DEL, NUM LOC, etc all along the outside edges.... that'd assure we keep our Plutos!

If you don't know what this sound is you'll all but crap your self as I did the first time I heard them do this! Once on a spring gobbler hunt I was quietly walking to an area to set up before day break. I walked under a big pine and a screech owl hollered at the top of the tree and took ten years off my life! Also walking in a field behind my house with no light in the pitch black a fox barked and took another ten!

I've been wondering what kind of sounds I've been hearing lately. It does sound like the hoot of a barred owl and there is a small woodland area with three sources of water nearby, but at the same time, I live in a city and I don't know if owls frequent cities or not. So basically, I'm guessing as to what that sound is.

Most animals with pure black eyes look creepy
The barred eye owl though, it makes them look cuter
