Team APS I was playing divine dragon lords at a locals and going against a ignkights player and he beat me before the tournament and was talking shit creamed him 2/0 in the tournament at locals and he was saying oh I couldn't do anything with the hand he had he did everything the same game before except this time I got a arkbrave in grave and had a divine in grave along with 2 call of the haunted on field since I could wait for him to pendulum summon then xyz so I could banish it it was so fun y
Arbiter 1775 nice. I'm a kid too and I remember one time an adult beat me in like two turns and started bragging, then everyone else in the store started yelling at him. it was funny
1. No mind crushes 2. No sending your opponent to the shadow realm 3. No tossing your opponent's cards off the side of a boat 4. No attacking the moon 5. No using your cards as projectile weapons 6. No using polymerisation on spell cards 7. No brainwashing people to duel for you 8. No summoning ancient mythical beasts through the power of trading cards 9. No infinity+ attack points. 10. No dragon penises
"Once it's on the field, I'll activate it's effect, which will allow me to remove from play one card from my Graveyard to Special Summon from my hand The Egg Rolls in ATK Mode! And next I'll play the Magic Card Special Sauce, cause you need that Sauce for 'em Egg Rolls!"
I was playing D/D/D against a kid at Locals this week, I summoned 4 massive monsters with 2 negates. I didn't do anything. Didn't negate, didn't attack, even let him mirror force me. He was so happy... Felt good.
DeltaTheAwsome PSYFrame Well, it was at locals, but it was for the tourney that night. Kid didn't have a single win. I let him win, helped him improve his deck, even gave him a card.
Rule: Don't kick a new player's ass and then pull out your binder to sell them stuff for them to "Improve their deck so they stand a chance next time". It's just a cruel sales trick abusing gullible newbies.
Romano van Genderen ... I suppose you could offer them the sales before but then how do you know where they are lacking? What kind of style matches their personality and what their decks lack to meet that style
@@daenor7807 I see ur point but if I had the right stuff I would try to help trade or sell whatever it could help that deck but I'd be more helpful and try to give advice
I will 100 interrupt a trade when somebody is trashing a kid or a new player on a super uneven trade. I had someone do it to me when I was young, and I wish someone had jumped in.
I remember the first week or so I ever ever went to locals I bought a Duelist Gensis special edition (Yes, that long ago) and pulled a ghost rare Stardust Dragon. I got rid of it for a couple of common cards...
Facts bro I got played like 5 years ago when I first started collecting and I traded almost all my cards and a six Sam deck for 1 obelisk and some utopia support. Wish I had those now.
Dude, I am so sorry. I'm still a new player but know what cards cost crap and i always see players ripping off new players trading ash blossoms for obelisks and exodias. I always jump in. (Btw we dont have ash blossoms at my school so lightly exaggerated there)
dude the hygene is bad! my locals stopped doing yugioh tournaments because of repeated bad stank. multiple people were told and warned multiple times to correct it and it was making the shop lose business.
lmao they should write in the rulebook to take baths and use a good deodorant before going to locals/events, and if that isn't enough people should bring a towel and some shirts to change (and the deodorant as well)
Tom Foolery I guess they're those stereotypical "nerds" who don't shower and just play games all day :/ really paints a bad picture on the rest of the community
That message is lost on too many people once they eneter a competitive environment. They're the best, you suck and if you do beat them it's because of the luck of draw. You can't win with these people. So it's in your interest to suspect nthat they're up to some shit...like stealing.
Cesareo Arriola Ironically, 4-Kids' attempt to censor out character death in Yu-Gi-Oh! subjected them to a fate worse than death. Instead of just dying, all those people had their souls sent to a dark dimension to drown in despair and be consumed-slowly, over the course of eons-by horrifying monsters.
Don't play season 1 rules, or season 2, or 3, 4, definitely not 5, unless your planning some card games on horseback. Go season 0 and set you opponents on fire! Please do not set people on fire unless you're a ancient Egyptian pharaoh.
I'm gonna be honest though, you also shouldn't go TOO easy on kids. Like yeah help them out and compliment the good things about their strategies and all that, but in my experience kids don't want you to hold back because that makes them feel like crap. Try to make them feel like you view them as a real, threatening opponent so they feel respected. However...NEVER rip off kids. That I feel is the truly scumbag thing to do.
I play a different card game but whenever i play against a new player i will usually ask them if they want me to play a simpler deck because i find that sometimes when people want to get more competitive learning from experience is better but if they just want to learn the basics Ill play a simpler ver. Of my deck
I am a 14 years old now but when I was 11 I went to a card shop (2nd time there) and I was facing off against the best guy there so I thought I was going to lose but, I won, fast, and when we where picking up our cards I saw one off face downs and relised he could have beat me easy, I was so mad I just sat in the corner and played alone for a bit. Also everyone there kept on telling me to confront him. (I didnt)
on the matter of going easy on kids or inexperienced players. I have a deck that I specifically use for those types of people. I use my dragunity deck, cause it shows off combos and it can be defeated. I'll also side deck out some trap cards and lighting correct so that way they can have a chance.
Blake Kuhlman Yugioh is supposed to be fun. the meta game and otk's are not fun for me. plus I grew up teaching my brother how to play and he is 8 years younger than me. For the sake of teaching I have to keep some decks at a certain strength. right know when we duel he's facing Exodia with the new Exodia cards plus the magician girl support its pretty good against his deck.
I'd have to disagree with the second rule. ONLY BECAUSE, kids know what they're doing nowadays. I've tried to go easy on newbs and kids but then the tables turn and I'm looking like 😵. Also, worse case scenario, they get big headed and now you've helped cultivate that.
Carlos White I have teens at my store when they first came I wrecked them with an incomplete synchron deck they didn't like losing I gave them cards , advice, n more cards now they beat me n I got abc now n built one of them a metalfoes deck
They were noobs 60 card deck no extra deck now they have blue eyes, fluffals, metalfoes, cyber dragons they top at locals n we have like 16 players right now
On the subject of going easy on newbies/young kids, if they are taking part in a tournament I'll fight them as usual, but then after the match is over I'll ask them to duel again but this time I'll go through their deck step by step to point out things that I saw them do in their match with me or someone else that they messed up, or if they didn't know how the rules worked. And on the final rule about not being a dirty slob, my local cardshop has straight up started banning people from attending if they are notorious for not washing their asses or smelling like shit. Card store has started to smell so damn better since the rule was passed.
I was running a Blue Eyes deck at locals in 2014. There were a couple guys who helped me with improving my deck. I was this short, chunky little 6th grader. After I was done with Blue Eyes, the best player there, Leo, helped me build a Lightswon deck and showed me the combos. I quickly improved in the game. But then the shop stopped holding tournaments lmao.
One time when i was at locals my friend was trading a 10 year old for a ghost rare blue eyes, he was giving the kid a utopia and a utopia the lightning. The kid says the trade is unfair so my friend also adds in a maxx c. The kid once again declines. Later on that day my friend was duelling a guy and i look over to the kid and he tries to steal my friends cards! I told my friend and we told the kid not to do it again. Later on in the tournament he tried to do it again! We gave him one last warning. Then I'm against him in the tournament. Bout to send this kid to the shadow realm then he plays mirror force, ok ill take him out next turn. I turn to one of my friends because they were asking me to mind their stuff while they went to the toilet and when i turn back around this kid is trying to steal my secret rare starving venom! I reported the kid to the person who runs the shop locals are held in and that kid hasn't tried to steal since. Sorry for the long winded story! Just wanted to share this with my good buddies of the internoot.
I know this is late as your comment is 3 years old but that Ghost Rare Blue-Eyes have me question that, did that kid earn it or stole it from someone? Reason is because of what I just read from your comment about the trading part and on how many times the kid tried to steal your friends cards.
i haven't played the card game with anyone in years. but here were some unspoken rules that i felt needed to be addressed back in the day and persist. and even you guys mentioned some of em. 1. Personal Space - "i get that viewers can be intrigued by the duel and may want to watch closely, but it's very unnerving when you've got someone literally breathing on your neck and borderline resting their head on your shoulders to see what your doing. this even extends to just being boxed in by a circle of viewers that are too close to the duel for comfort, which Leads into my 2nd issue." 2. Keep your hands OFF the merchandise. "sometimes onlookers get too curious as to whats going on and they are picking up your cards as your actively playing the game just to see what you have, what your gonna draw, what face down's you have placed. whats in your discard pile. THIS happened way too often back when i played that i was wishing they would invent or bring some kind of glass box to place over the field that only the players could stick their hands in. this would become problematic that it would ruin games and make people feel awkward. " 3. SLOW DOWN!!! - "Maybe this was just a me problem but when playing with friends it never was. Communication like you guys said is key but it's really REALLY annoying when players you are dueling are playing the game way too fast. (For example). They quickly flip open a magic card AND You are now trying to react and decide weather you want to counter it with your magic jammer. Without even alerting you. they've already followed up on that move with several more, putting them on the spot when you think and decide you do want to counter it, and they sit there stunned with the only words coming out of their mouths *"Dude i'm already like playing other cards" * . to which i have to respond. Slow Down! Your not the god damn Flash. there's no need for this rushing. " 4. Prove It! - " some players expect you to know every card ever made... some do. But the majority including myself probably don't and need a little verification. when you play a card... don't be that guy and not let your opponent read it so they don't know whats up. " it's not always a matter of trust, but sometimes cards can be so obscure that the other may wanna know just what the hell happened." 5. Banned or Unbanned - "Duel Monsters has come a long way and it's arguable if it was for the better, but real cards you may have paid good money for just might not be legal to use in a professional setting. that's fine. but for casual players and friendly games it should be made clear and maybe even understood that nothing is at stake for allowing another player or even yourself to use some of the oldies but goodies. don't be that guy and complain at the other guy that his card's aren't legal. establish your house rules prior to game and be cool. " 6. Be Nice - "it's amazing that this even has to be stated, but trash talking the other player or players is and should never be ok or tolerated. the fun back and forth jaw jacking between friends who know each other is one thing. but to strangers who can say some downright mean comments can ruin the game for everyone. we're all in this to have fun and some people take it way too seriously as if this was world war 3. nobody looks good when situations like this arise.
The Brotherhood of Gaming I disagree with allowing banned card Its frustrating when you are winning and the other guy plays a pot of greed or his second rageki If you will play banned cards at least have tje decency to say it beforehand and see if the other player is confortable with that
Noah Martinez That's why at the end of that he said establish your house rules before the game. Also, Pot of Greed isn't even hard to counter XD If you aren't running at least a few cards that can stop Pot of Greed, then what are you doing?
Speaking of yu gi oh theft. Had an entire deck stolen once, basically why I dropped the game entirely till last year. Nothing else from playing hurt more than losing a good deck you've built over the course of the games lifespan to that point, only having those few birthday boosters to build with, and then BAM! It's gone. Just being the dork i was then too, I always imagined the deck, dragon themed, represented I had the heart of a dragon. The last few weeks that went by before i dropped I was running zombies instead, because my heart died...
I feel ya when code of duelist came out I had a bunch of world chalice I pulled was planning on making a deck I set it down and wasn't looking and someone stole it in the end I actually went threw a friend and got most of the world chalice Stuff for 18$
I thought that I was cool by getting my prescription glasses to also be mirrors... some guy told me while we were dueling that he could see my hand through my glasses... I was so embarrassed...
I go to a place that has a lot of beginners for any card game. I find that it's more encouraging to let the person win because it makes them want to come back. They also make more friends that way by feeling more encouraged. I also have quite a lot cards so if somebody doesn't have a deck I'll loan them one of mine and tell them how to use it. Just being an overall nice person to new players in anything is a great feeling. You make new friends, learn new things, lots of stuff.
I feel like it's disrespectful to go easy on any player. Against new players and kids, I'll definitely be nice and teach them the rules and such. However, I won't hold back against them.
I don't play yugioh or anything, but I'm an avid fighting game player and I teach my friends and people I come across online, and I have to say, you have to hold back against someone who's new. You can't let them win, because they learn nothing that way, but they won't learn anything if you body them either. You have to be mindful of your opponent's skill level so you can help them or give them a decent game. Now if this is a tournament or something, that goes out the window.
Super D Duper I'm like you, big fighting game player but only started playing duel links a little while ago and finding it really fun. Against a noob I usually either don't maximise damage or just play defensive and practice my block strings. I'm going to let them get a few attacks in but make sure he knows he can't beat me. That way he realises his weak points and still can say "ok well this worked for me, I'll keep doing that"
I remember my first tournament. The 2013 San Diego one. In round 2 or 3 I played Monster Gate but forgot to tribute a monster for the cost. My opponent ( at the time I was 14 and he was like 18 or 20) rule sharked me and call in a judge and I got a in game warning.
Jose Ortiz I played against a rule shark at a ycs in 2013 who tried to activate dpridon while imperial iron wall was up and chain mst to it to pop his iiw.
What irks me the most is like you guys said about the back seat dueling. I built this deck. There are many out there similar, but this one is mine. If I've already explained about why I don't do this or that, or why do I run these or those, please do not ridicule! Don't be that guy!
celticgaurdian1400 b-b-but why aren't you running 3 copies of this? That's the only way this deck works. Oh but you've got 3 copies of that? No no no, that only works at 2, you're deck is ruined you'll never be able to win with this.
celticgaurdian1400 b-b-but why aren't you running 3 copies of this? That's the only way this deck works. Oh but you've got 3 copies of that? No no no, that only works at 2, you're deck is ruined you'll never be able to win with this.
Had a guy today bring in Zoodiacs, must've dropped 300+ on the main deck, I 2-0ed him with Paleo Frogs, he refused to shake my hand afterwards. Pure salt.
I have very little respect for those who show poor sportsmanship. I get that it sucks to loose, but acting out/walking away in a huff doesn't make it any better. And that isn't to say we should like loosing. Far from it. But by shaking someone's hand, by thanking them; you showcase that you are a good person. And that mindset can make you friends.
johntavius mobley especially when playing a stranger, I mean me and some friends used to play all the time and we'd sometimes just pick up each others face up cards to read the effects, but that's something you can only do when playing a friend who's ok with you checking their face up cards
I beat someone with my token deck with 2 united we stand and did an 8k attack and won then he went to a judge trying to explain that tokens can't attack at any point it a duel -_-
Sometimes I feel like: Hey can I read this effect? Me: Yes, of course He takes out an zippo and fucking burns the Card and then he says: Oops sorry that I broke it a little bit. Card is marked as fuck. Me: Holy fuck you just destroyed 20 bucks
Im only guilty of "backseat dueling" not how its stated here though i just make sure nobody misplays their things. This guy my friend was dueling wanted to play for my friends 101 he put up a beelze. The kid tried to pendulum summon his whole hand of yosenjus then pop duality. From my understanding pendulum summons count as specials so he couldn't use duality i said so and he tried saying "oh your friends helping you deals off" i told him no im not helping im trying to stop him from cheating. He also tried bouncing them all by end phase but he couldn't do that either they only get that return effect when normal summoned. I was judging since i run yosenjus my friend ran blackwings i also called my friend for grabbing a bora off of a gale normal summon with whirlwind so it wasn't biased.
1. Don't play Archlord Kristya and Herald of Perfection without any expectation of being hated. 2. Don't netdeck. There are thousands of cards in the game, why limit yourself to the same 30 that someone else uses? 3. Always say "good luck" and "good game," unless they FTK you, then you have permission to say "Fuck off." 4. Don't bring up politics during the duel, then someone will be salty regardless of the outcome. 5. At least try to not reek of BO when you come to locals. At least try. 6. Don't steal cards or rip people off. These kinds of people are the most despicable in all of the Yugioh society and should be shunned forever. 7. This one is for Konami: Don't make decks so overpowered that you need an emergency list, and then don't absolutely neuter the deck to unplayability. People spend a shit ton of money on this game you know. 8. Don't lock your opponent down to where they can't play Yugioh. I'm looking at you, Utopia players. Utopic ZEXAL can kiss my ass. 9. Please, please, PLEASE refrain from calling your opponent offensive names. The game is meant to be fun, if you get butthurt then just suck it up. Again, with the only exception of if they FTK you.
9. No backseat dueling 8. Be honest and don't cheat 7. Don't interrupt a trade 6. Learn to take a loss 5. Respect the opponent and the game 4. Don't steal anything 3. Know your fucking rulings 2. Study your match-ups and work out a side deck ahead of time 1. Take a shower and use fucking deodorant
if you have already taken a shower there should be no point on putting on body spray it makes you sweat and causes the body oder to smell worse. little bit of science will take you a long way
I remember when I was younger, and the 5ds Yu-gi-oh tins were popular. My first Tin was the Majestic Star Dragon tin with the limited edition Majestic Star Dragon card inside. I let one of the fellow Yu-gi-oh nerds on my bus see my cards one day before I moved from the school we went to. I found out he stole it out of my tin. I was devastated. I'll never forget that.
Im still stuck in 2013 style yugioh because of my lack of cash, finally getting a job soon so I can get used to playing the new styles and go play with other people.
I'm a big fella, and I sweat alot. I always pack some extra shirts, deodorant, I got Ziploc bags for my sweetly clothes, and I keep some wet wipes to improvise a quick cleaning, cuz you can't leave an event, drive home, shower and all that and drive back. It's stuff you just gotta do to be courteous to your fellow players.
When I was 13 I went to a local tournament. Not too big, and I was an anime purist. I, mostly, used decks inspired from ones in the anime. I made it to the second round and was absolutely murdered by a guy that used a Jinzo return OTK. It kind of discouraged me, and I've only played, maybe, one more tournament since.
I always get that salty scrub who says I could have topdecked X or your a bad player bc I use meta yet they lose. This happens a lot IRL and on DevPro. These people need to leave the community. Their mental immaturity to not accept a loss on themselves and blame it on others baffles me. Makes me wanna smack them and their parents for not raising them right.
I introduced a "knock phase" amongst my circle of friends. Knock phase comes directly after your end phase, or basically whenever you wanna end your turn, you just knock your the table twice, just like when you knock on someone's door
thank u fellow brothas and I don't mean as just as fellow black men, but also as duelists and of that of being human. I don't normally TH-cam comment but this is more than worth it. A lot of these points we reiterate to our team members so that we can succeed and prosper and also to new players. Yours truly, Pandemonium from Team Legends of Divinity.
I don't even play Yugioh and I know all of these, which makes the idea that people who do don't know some basic etiquette even more frustrating, because I was actually hoping to learn something from this video.
I summon my double quarter pounder with cheese! It's effect allows me to special summon my large coke and fries to the field. Now, I fuse my double quarter pounder with cheese, large coke, and large fries to fusion summon my double quarter pounder large meal! It's effect gives me food poisoning and extreme regret after I ruin the duel for you.
Had all my cards stolen in 2007 and haven't played since. A few of which that are now hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Been all over yalls channel the past couple months and it motivated me to start it back up. You guys rule!!
I like the "communication" part. Something I like in the duels you guys do is that you read what each card does. Nothing is worse than the other player just pointing at a card you've never seen and saying "effect" then throwing down their whole deck onto the field.
I have experienced some really nice people at a card shop that holds tournaments to teach younger players.( not saying that I'm 5 I'm older than that) one actually gave a few cards to me because there was only 3 people there
You guys have great timing, I'm about to enter a tournament later today, and even if I don't place, I'd like to make a good impression. getting back into the game about a decade later.
I totally agree with your hygiene remarks, however, as humans we tend to be blind-sided sometimes. I have a condition called hyperhidrosis and I sweat very easily, but yes I do combat this by taking daily showers and making sure I am clean. However, I do recognize that some people do take care of their hygiene, yet their weight alone causes a stench. Sometimes it does stink and I dislike it as well, but I give them the benefit of the doubt.
Ajdin Ibrisagic We said this in the video as well. We know that sometimes it's a medical condition. We're not making fun of anyone, we just want people to be more attentive
I remember this last year(my freshman year of high school), there was this new kid who me and my group of friends found out that he played...so I dueled him, i got one of the best hands i could ask for, but i didnt do anything with it bc i could tell he was nervous, i ended up letting him win, he was so happy lol
On what you said about reading cards, it's also important to not get impatient if your opponent needs a moment to read your effect in order to understand an interaction, or simply for future reference
I recently joined my local duel club, played in my 1st tournament with my 1st ever deck (deskbots) only won 1 duel out 9 against 3 opponents and they and everyone at the club were amazing, gave me tips on how to improve my deck and they even gave me some cards to do that and I bought a few of them, that would help too! Thats what I love about the game, everyone likes to help everyone out! p.s. loving this channel, has helped me out to understand the game a bit better, since im a new duelist. keep up the good work guys! :)
When it comes to hygiene, the only excuse i will give anyone is that they're just coming from a blue-collar job. At that point i will personally buy them a box of baby wipes and not ask a single question. No shame.
Announcing phases is pretty much the one thing I don't follow from this list, just because I've noticed it seems to just go without saying. Draw phase, you draw, and it's understood that you immediately go to your standby phase (main phase if there's nothing happening in the standby phase). Obviously if you start playing cards you're still in your main phase 1, and if you declare battle, it's the battle phase. Barring card effects, if you start playing/setting other cards after battle, it's obvious that you're in main phase 2. I think that the End Phase is the only one that needs to be declared, because it's what tells the other player they can start their draw phase.
Unspoken rule......Don't scoop like before you even play. (idk how to explain it but if you're going second. Forfeiting without making any move is a nono imo)
Autumn Alcala If they know they can't do anything and that they will lose, then I say they should scoop. In fact a better rule is "Don't lock your opponent to where to can't play Yugioh," because that's a scummy thing to do.
I dunno, sometimes it's sensible to do so. I was playing a basic Zombie deck and my opponent started and got out Kirin, Bunbun, CyDra Infinity and a Metalfoe. I literally had 1 NSable monster. In that situation, I was advised to scoop because I wouldn't be able to break the board and I'd be able to side in stuff while my opponent didn't know what deck I was running.
at our locals here in town, when new players come to play yugioh, I do what I can to help them learn their cards and how to play. if I end up playing a game against them I use a training deck that I built just to teach them about different cards and how/when to use them. sorta like a tutorial, but I don't use overpowered cards, I only use the older cards...stuff from the 1st generation cards. then eventually show them how to perform other summons and i'll even help them out by giving them some really good cards from my trades binder that can help their deck.
The one thing I think is an unspoken rule is to never downgrade someone else's deck no matter how bad you think it is. People don't put a lot of time and money into building decks just for you to tell them they are terrible. If anything, give them tips on strategy, or tell them to buy cards that would upgrade the deck.
Kaiba Core good stuff. I agree. Obnoxious metagamers are a disease to any game and they suck the fun out of it for everyone else. Let people learn from their own mistakes and don't tear them down for making them
Yea I just stick to dueling friend's, we give each other advice and sometimes give one another hints and cards that we think could help ofc up to them to use, and being the most experienced player I'm always happy to answer any questions they have, unless I'm at work lol which has been happening lately.
TBH there is nothing worse than a dude who waltzes in smelling like roadkill. How hard is it to apply soap and deodorant? I don't care how big you are, wash your self!!! How can they think going out to a public forum smelling like that is a good idea? I played MTG against a guy in a local shops tournament who legit smelled like a pile of fresh turd. He smelled so bad I dry retched...
So I know this video is 4 years old but it’s new to me and something stuck out when you guys talked about playing kids/new players. The LGS I play at, the person who runs the store is a genius when it comes to this. He always plays against the newbies because he knows just how to play in order to: (1) let them win, (2) have fun doing it, and (3) ultimately continue playing the game because their first “x” games/experiences with yugioh were very favorable. He makes sure their first encounters with the game are good and 9/10 times they will come back and play more. It’s actually a great way to keep new people interested and spending money.
Excellent video, Paul. Good sportsmanship is something I value. It is something I always showcase to my opponent, even if the circumstances of my victory or defeat is good or bad. I never say good game. Usually, thank you for the match. More neutral. If they are salty after that, I cannot control that. As for announcing Phases, YES. Maybe, it is because in MTG a lot of players often do this, but I swear some of these players need to be clear. For instance, I had a player at my locals rush into their battle Phase, not realizing I had a response. He got irritated; and eventually the local judge ruled in my favor. Now, that isn't to say; you should be a robot, BUT make it clear what phase you are in.
Also, yes; I cannot stand it when people outside the duel touch my cards without asking. It is rude and obnoxious. Wait until I'm done or ask. My opponent I'm much more forgiving as they are in a game and I get if they want to read card text. It is public knowledge after all for purposes of gameplay. But even so, I ask my opponents respect my cards. I always respect my opponents; especially, if they pay quite a bit of money for their deck.
If I go up against a new player, I normally go easy on them and see if there plays are pretty decent. If not I give them as much advice as possible. Even winning against them like that, I feel fine because I helped them improve and think up new/quirky strategies.
That 'jumping in to a trade' that hapent at my locals just yesterday. Two guy's were trading over a card and a third guy just walkes up bidding more for the card then the first guy did. That's really anoying and you shoulden't be doing that.
I heaven't Yugioh in almost 15 years, (I just kind of stumbled onto this video), but almost all of these apply to magic as well, especially the food one. I am cool with someone having a coffee, an energy drink, a water, or some other drink off to the side, but don't have your food out during the game and if you do, don't touch my cards with your greasy hands. Your number 1 is probably also the most important to me, take a shower before an event. When there are 50, 100, or even 1000+ people in a hot room, not showering is not going to make that situation smell any better.
All of these can be applied to many other games, especially when it comes to card games. A suggested other unspoken rule is this: If you find unattended cards or cases, deck boxes, etc., be a decent human being and guard them. If the person whose cards those are doesn't come back, contact the organizer, store owner, or head judge to take them and attempt to contact whosoever owns them. Which, it is useful to have contact information in a semi-hidden place where someone in those seats of authority can use for contacting in case of you accidentally forgetting your cards.
Blake Kuhlman if someone doesnt know what a shower or soap is maybe a childrens card game shouldnt be their first priority. Unfortunatly some of these people forget they stink and play anyways
Man. I haven't watched any of your videos since I was in the game YEARS ago (scrubbed out right around Dragon Rulers)... Y'all have come a long way. Last time I watched I think y'all had like, 1500 subs lol. Congrats on the success guys! Maybe now that I'm back in the area I'll stop by DL one day haha.
Incorrect, it allows you to add cards into your hand at will, but you have to be playing on a motorcycle riding a data storm while summoning a spirit of pot of greed. Also you need to sell your soul to Facebook so they can advertise the cards that you 'need'. And be sent to the shadow realm when you die.
IT MAKES YOU SUPER GREEDY AND YOU TAKE YOUR OPPONENTS EXODIA AND THROW THEM INTO THE OCEAN AND SUMMON OBELISK THE TORMENTOR IF THIS IS SUCCESSFUL. YOU MUST HAVE CRAZY HAIR OR BE A NOOB OR BE IN A MOTORCYCLE IN ORDER TO ACTIVATE THIS EFFECT.
Man the people at my card shop must be so much more close then. Everyone asks for advice mid-duel, everyone seems so happy to help all the time, I even left all of my cards sitting on a table alone while I watched a duel and I went back and everything was there still.
Maxfire89 Same bro, I live on a reservation for Native Americans over in SD so there isn't even a card shop anywhere, and the nearest town is like a half hour away. So I feel you, fellow duelist.
I smacked someone in the face for handling my cards while eating. they had that typical what the fuck was that for reaction and it escalated from there.
When I was like 7 I had one of my blue eyes ultimate stolen at a bots and girls club and I had looked everywhere to find it but one of the teenagers I found out later that they walk out and pocketed it. I was devastated by it especially as a kid
Most of these unspoken rules are selfexplenetori, but it's still good to know. I'm going to regionals for the first time so this is quite a helpfull video to know what to do and expect. Thanks guys!
I remember buying the Joey starter deck in Toys R Us and then heading straight into their tourney and summoning Red Eyes from my hand, the guy I was facing against was so nice and explained the game to me. 9 years later and I still play the game
Trell T well, I should emphasize you always complain about people needing to shower, literally one of the most prominent things you talk about; also you being a Infernoid fanboy, which I can respect.
I don't play much yugioh nowadays (I mostly stick to the new digimon tcg) but I still love the content you guys put out. A lot of your tips are pretty universal to just about every tcg out there, keep up the good work. :D
About the backseat dueling, there was a thing where i was teaching my gf how to play and showing her the deck by walking her through a match with a friend of mines, he got upset cuz he lost and was like are you gunna let her play or what. Him saying that completely discouraged her from trying to learn the game.
I'm a little tiny bit of a backseat dueler, mainly because I'm teaching my friend to play, so I'm helping and stuff, but sometimes I just can't help myself
Thanks for watching, everyone! *Let's shoot for 500 Likes on this video!!*
What are some of the other unspoken rules of Yu-Gi-Oh?
Team APS yo I am a kid and when I went against my friend and he rage quit and the thing is that I had pendulum
Justin Brown I'm a kid and when I won against an older person he raged around the store cursing (I was playing Blue-Eyes
Arbiter 1775 awesome man but do you have pendulum because if you have blue-eyes with pendulum that would be cool
Arbiter 1775 nice. I'm a kid too and I remember one time an adult beat me in like two turns and started bragging, then everyone else in the store started yelling at him. it was funny
1. No mind crushes
2. No sending your opponent to the shadow realm
3. No tossing your opponent's cards off the side of a boat
4. No attacking the moon
5. No using your cards as projectile weapons
6. No using polymerisation on spell cards
7. No brainwashing people to duel for you
8. No summoning ancient mythical beasts through the power of trading cards
9. No infinity+ attack points.
10. No dragon penises
No twin headed thunder penis?😭
What about super mega ultra chicken?
I don’t know why number 9 made me laugh so much
No "screw the rules, I have money"
What the hell does #10 mean? XD
Food on the playmat. "I summon General Tso's Chicken in ATK Mode!"
11/10
"Once it's on the field, I'll activate it's effect, which will allow me to remove from play one card from my Graveyard to Special Summon from my hand The Egg Rolls in ATK Mode! And next I'll play the Magic Card Special Sauce, cause you need that Sauce for 'em Egg Rolls!"
Devilsblight86 I fusion summon mega beef patty and ultra lettuce to create hamburger of destruction
Devilsblight86 I summon McDonald's Chicken Nuggets in the field in Attack Mode and activate the Equip Spell SCHEZUAN SAUCE!!!
"Hahahahaha! How will you stand up to its sublime flavor?"
I was playing D/D/D against a kid at Locals this week, I summoned 4 massive monsters with 2 negates. I didn't do anything. Didn't negate, didn't attack, even let him mirror force me. He was so happy... Felt good.
You should have negated.
DeltaTheAwsome PSYFrame Y tho?
Adam Labelle I dunno. Was it just a casual game at locals?
Adam Labelle but can you negate trap in the dameg step
Alex Onstott a person who used to be my older cousins friend used to pull that shit on my cousin and her younger brother
I remember the first week or so I ever ever went to locals I bought a Duelist Gensis special edition (Yes, that long ago) and pulled a ghost rare Stardust Dragon. I got rid of it for a couple of common cards...
lolmaster8683 /aka Izado haha
Facts bro I got played like 5 years ago when I first started collecting and I traded almost all my cards and a six Sam deck for 1 obelisk and some utopia support. Wish I had those now.
Dude, I am so sorry. I'm still a new player but know what cards cost crap and i always see players ripping off new players trading ash blossoms for obelisks and exodias. I always jump in.
(Btw we dont have ash blossoms at my school so lightly exaggerated there)
player 1 "what does that card do?"
player 2 " nothing, yet"
player 1 "ok, I attack"
player 2 "It turns to defense, you lose 200 LP"
André Lima , the struggle is real.
André Lima That's why I ask to check their card's effect. Some players will leave out information or tell you the effect won't matter... yet
Right. Happens all the time.
Tell me about it.
That's the anime
dude the hygene is bad! my locals stopped doing yugioh tournaments because of repeated bad stank. multiple people were told and warned multiple times to correct it and it was making the shop lose business.
shadowchu419 lol
lmao they should write in the rulebook to take baths and use a good deodorant before going to locals/events, and if that isn't enough people should bring a towel and some shirts to change (and the deodorant as well)
Super Master Of The Obvious 4 i know the feeling!
where i live, they only have MAGIC tounaments :(
Jack Hyper I feel ya bro :( Same over here
What kind of person wouldn't wash himself before going to a social event, don't these people feel shame.
based on the shameful disrespectful cowardly way a lot of them play now days no they don't
Tom Foolery I guess they're those stereotypical "nerds" who don't shower and just play games all day :/ really paints a bad picture on the rest of the community
Eric Brian Brewster no excuse not to shower tho
@Peridot I have a friend whose autistic and has fairly good grades and showers everyday
@@Slobzz this is my life
8 min in and i think the message is act like a decent human being.
Basically this!
That message is lost on too many people once they eneter a competitive environment.
They're the best, you suck and if you do beat them it's because of the luck of draw.
You can't win with these people.
So it's in your interest to suspect nthat they're up to some shit...like stealing.
I never go easy on anyone. If they go to the shadow realm, then they go to the shadow realm.
SuperKoRn1234 If you to consider the original Japanese manga and the not castrated anime, they die.
SuperKoRn1234 you mean purple realm
If they die, they die. Don't go to local tournaments at the mall if you don't want to die.
Joseph Wagner Unless you get revenge and make them play a different game that your good at...like Tekken 7.
Cesareo Arriola
Ironically, 4-Kids' attempt to censor out character death in Yu-Gi-Oh! subjected them to a fate worse than death.
+Probably no one important lol
Do a mind crushing instead
Chances are some smart ass ancient Egyptian Pharaoh will do just this, and say you told them it was okay
Maybe I am
I'm gonna be honest though, you also shouldn't go TOO easy on kids. Like yeah help them out and compliment the good things about their strategies and all that, but in my experience kids don't want you to hold back because that makes them feel like crap. Try to make them feel like you view them as a real, threatening opponent so they feel respected. However...NEVER rip off kids. That I feel is the truly scumbag thing to do.
Also, preach on "read your own cards". If I have to teach another person the ruling on his/her own card I'm going to lose my mind.
Corbin Kendall so you not like 5-10 comment i found that sad fucking otk and naget every thank so they dont play yugioh so they can learn
Corbin Kendall It's a little patronizing, but a huge step up over the scumlords who derive joy from crushing children. Good on you!
Corbin Kendall My deck for that would be Relinquished Kaiju.
Corbin Kendall I use a budget bijin cause dragunity can scare some people with all the monsters moving around
I once let a little Kid use every effect they want to without negating and played him till he lost because of having no cards in his Deck
Was it a Maxx C?
I'd have to disagree with the second rule. ONLY BECAUSE, kids know what they're doing nowadays. I've tried to go easy on newbs and kids but then the tables turn and I'm looking like 😵. Also, worse case scenario, they get big headed and now you've helped cultivate that.
Carlos White but not all of them
Carlos White I have teens at my store when they first came I wrecked them with an incomplete synchron deck they didn't like losing I gave them cards , advice, n more cards now they beat me n I got abc now n built one of them a metalfoes deck
They were noobs 60 card deck no extra deck now they have blue eyes, fluffals, metalfoes, cyber dragons they top at locals n we have like 16 players right now
I do go easy on kids thou run my weak deck lol
There should be no rule unspoken or other wise about having kids gloves in a card game or any game really. As long as you're not a dick about it..
I killed a full power pepe player with domain monarchs and he left locals and never came back lol
Aidan Freihaut hit (x) for doubt
Cause you cannot come back after somebody KILLED you!! O_o
Lmao
I killed a full power pepe player with Melodious that ran triple Krystia and he never came back to my hangout LOL!
I killed a full power pepe player.
He'll never play for the rest of his life >:^)
On the subject of going easy on newbies/young kids, if they are taking part in a tournament I'll fight them as usual, but then after the match is over I'll ask them to duel again but this time I'll go through their deck step by step to point out things that I saw them do in their match with me or someone else that they messed up, or if they didn't know how the rules worked.
And on the final rule about not being a dirty slob, my local cardshop has straight up started banning people from attending if they are notorious for not washing their asses or smelling like shit. Card store has started to smell so damn better since the rule was passed.
respect
Sombra I would have clocked him the second time.
Kenzie Aponte lmao
Bouta send this nigga to the realm of shadows
I know this is late as your comment is 3 years old but that Ghost Rare Blue-Eyes have me question that, did that kid earn it or stole it from someone? Reason is because of what I just read from your comment about the trading part and on how many times the kid tried to steal your friends cards.
Random guy: Hey can I check your deck?
Me: Here you go
5 minutes later my sleeves are sticky and with dirt -.-
I feel that. The last time I let someone check my deck he threw my five pieces of exodia off the boat.
Yash Farooqui but you're Yuma. I thought that happened to yugi? Did weevil get you too?
Weevil will biff every Exodia in existence
he's drunk, he meant all his 23939030 copies of utopia monsters were thrown in the ocean
Me: Yeah sure *30 seconds later Raviel, Lord of Phantasms is gone*
Me: Fuuuuuuu (Lost all duels that day and had to buy a replacement)
i haven't played the card game with anyone in years. but here were some unspoken rules that i felt needed to be addressed back in the day and persist. and even you guys mentioned some of em.
1. Personal Space - "i get that viewers can be intrigued by the duel and may want to watch closely, but it's very unnerving when you've got someone literally breathing on your neck and borderline resting their head on your shoulders to see what your doing. this even extends to just being boxed in by a circle of viewers that are too close to the duel for comfort, which Leads into my 2nd issue."
4. Prove It! - " some players expect you to know every card ever made... some do. But the majority including myself probably don't and need a little verification. when you play a card... don't be that guy and not let your opponent read it so they don't know whats up. " it's not always a matter of trust, but sometimes cards can be so obscure that the other may wanna know just what the hell happened."
The Brotherhood of Gaming I disagree with allowing banned card
Its frustrating when you are winning and the other guy plays a pot of greed or his second rageki
If you will play banned cards at least have tje decency to say it beforehand and see if the other player is confortable with that
Noah Martinez That's why at the end of that he said establish your house rules before the game. Also, Pot of Greed isn't even hard to counter XD If you aren't running at least a few cards that can stop Pot of Greed, then what are you doing?
Elesa Brooks you know a lot of competitive players play pot pf desires even with the high risk right?
Noah Martinez You do realize I'm not a competitive player, right?
@@AlastorNahIdWinRadioDemon i dont know why he would
Speaking of yu gi oh theft.
Andrew McHolland You poor thing, I remember nearly feeling my heart drop when I thought I lost my monarch deck because it had Obelisk in it
I feel ya when code of duelist came out I had a bunch of world chalice I pulled was planning on making a deck I set it down and wasn't looking and someone stole it in the end I actually went threw a friend and got most of the world chalice Stuff for 18$
I thought that I was cool by getting my prescription glasses to also be mirrors... some guy told me while we were dueling that he could see my hand through my glasses... I was so embarrassed...
Beyond Solace oml
I think the over the top reaction is warranted when somebody pulls off Anti-Raigeki and wins the duel
Mellow Fellow VA
Or summons Exodia.
Mellow Fellow VA I made someone black hole sacrifice pointless with blue eye and dark magician deck
Or uses mirror force and dark mirror for e xD I'd just be soo mad lol
Shadow 808 Dark Mirror Force into Storming Mirror Force. Male everything face-down and remove it from play.
What the fuck who the fucking fuck uses that shit card
That way he realises his weak points and still can say "ok well this worked for me, I'll keep doing that"
I feel the same I'm 13 and I like when people don't go easy on me at all I like a real duel even if I'm losing hardcore
@@OldAccount-sm2iq clearly you are more mature than the average 13 year old. i guess 14 now
I remember my first tournament. The 2013 San Diego one. In round 2 or 3 I played Monster Gate but forgot to tribute a monster for the cost. My opponent ( at the time I was 14 and he was like 18 or 20) rule sharked me and call in a judge and I got a in game warning.
Jose Ortiz i have rule sharked before, but only because the guy was an ass the whole match
He could have just pointed out that you had to tribute. Not call the judge necessarily
No no no, that only works at 2, you're deck is ruined you'll never be able to win with this.

hayakain all Toad players are 👌
aaand there it is
hayakain I played nekroz against a zoo player 3-2 him and he was salty and dint even shake my hand either
How much did that paleo frogs cost you? Honest question, looking to invest in one
I have very little respect for those who show poor sportsmanship. I get that it sucks to loose, but acting out/walking away in a huff doesn't make it any better. And that isn't to say we should like loosing. Far from it. But by shaking someone's hand, by thanking them; you showcase that you are a good person. And that mindset can make you friends.
read your cards... that a good one but ask before you touch my cards...
johntavius mobley especially when playing a stranger, I mean me and some friends used to play all the time and we'd sometimes just pick up each others face up cards to read the effects, but that's something you can only do when playing a friend who's ok with you checking their face up cards
I beat someone with my token deck with 2 united we stand and did an 8k attack and won then he went to a judge trying to explain that tokens can't attack at any point it a duel -_-
Jarred Wickham Ooh... yikes
Jarred Wickham which token was it, because some can't
Jarred Wickham tokens can attack but sometimes they don't have any atk sometimes
Jarred Wickham lol you joking or naw
Daron Stephens no
Be careful with other people's cards.

*pokes card and leaves a mark in the card*
Sometimes I feel like: Hey can I read this effect?
Me: Yes, of course
He takes out an zippo and fucking burns the Card and then he says: Oops sorry that I broke it a little bit.
3. Always say "good luck" and "good game," unless they FTK you, then you have permission to say "Fuck off."
Nerdy George Washington i play utopi but not hope zexal i mean way did they even make card its so stuped
Nerdy George Washington 1. Goes so much further then playing just those two cards.
ikr!? Vanitys fiend, ruler and emptiness, fossil dyna basically any perma flood gate. Also Kirin.
Intimidating Loli Well sure there are way worse ones but I've never seen any lock brought out so easy and so quickly.
jaegamer And yes, I hate all of those cards too, except Fossil Dyna. He's easy to beat over.
So you could say these are YuginNoNos?

8. Be honest and don't cheat
7. Don't interrupt a trade
6. Learn to take a loss
5. Respect the opponent and the game
4. Don't steal anything
3. Know your fucking rulings
2. Study your match-ups and work out a side deck ahead of time
1. Take a shower and use fucking deodorant

if you have already taken a shower there should be no point on putting on body spray it makes you sweat and causes the body oder to smell worse. little bit of science will take you a long way
#1 Wash ya ass
Remember when "manners in dueling" was part of the rulebook? That needs to come back lol
babysinclairfan YES!!! Bring the common courtesy back!
Im still stuck in 2013 style yugioh because of my lack of cash, finally getting a job soon so I can get used to playing the new styles and go play with other people.
so now they are spoken?

Super Fan Sean You could just say end...
ooor you can use words.
thank u fellow brothas and I don't mean as just as fellow black men, but also as duelists and of that of being human.

I feel like "that guy" is the same guy who does all 9 of these.
I hate when you get an opponent that won't even look at you.
Ajdin Ibrisagic stop being fat then.
Never played yugioh, only magic. You guys make me want to give it a try. Subscribed
I hate backseat duelists. The people that I play against are always helping each other to beat me. And it is bloody annoying.
I remember this last year(my freshman year of high school), there was this new kid who me and my group of friends found out that he played...so I dueled him, i got one of the best hands i could ask for, but i didnt do anything with it bc i could tell he was nervous, i ended up letting him win, he was so happy lol
*Draws a card, grins* It's over for you paul...*places card on table*I SUMMON SOY SAUCE IN ATTACK POSITION!!!
On what you said about reading cards, it's also important to not get impatient if your opponent needs a moment to read your effect in order to understand an interaction, or simply for future reference
are you kidding me xD forgetting the most important rule hahaha : HAVE FUN
Fair point.
Shemegory right, if a board is ridiculous sure. But I'm talking about the people that forfeit because of bad hands or something like that.
Autumn Alcala If they know they can't do anything and that they will lose, then I say they should scoop. In fact a better rule is "Don't lock your opponent to where to can't play Yugioh," because that's a scummy thing to do.
Nerdy George Washington yeah idk, I feel like it's a bit of a cheek to instantly give up because your hand is bad but probably just me I guess
Hopefully, Link Summoning ends that shit
Sal Fugarino , the players in greatest need of cards can not afford them and should have never entered that tournament in the first place.
Thou shalt not speak the unspoken rules
Anthony Cantos Indeed
"your an adult no one has to tell you. to wash your ass"😂😂😂 great vid
Soneone stole my Emergency Teleport at my locals once.
Good work both of y'all 👍🏽
Salad y'all is still correct m theres multiple people so it works
Yes, i'm this hysteric guy vwho's yelling "DON'T TOUCH MY CARD", men I just hate it, tell me the autorisation for that :'(
All of these can be applied to many other games, especially when it comes to card games. A suggested other unspoken rule is this: If you find unattended cards or cases, deck boxes, etc., be a decent human being and guard them. If the person whose cards those are doesn't come back, contact the organizer, store owner, or head judge to take them and attempt to contact whosoever owns them. Which, it is useful to have contact information in a semi-hidden place where someone in those seats of authority can use for contacting in case of you accidentally forgetting your cards.
all of these things are in the rulebook
lilkhalim except maybe the hygiene but that's a given
Blake Kuhlman if someone doesnt know what a shower or soap is maybe a childrens card game shouldnt be their first priority.
And the stinky ones are always the ones who raise their hands for judges. Omg
My first opponent when i was 10, was very kind to me and he is my rival and friend now .
So I guess you can say he’s your frienemy.
What does pot of greed do?
gamebox131 , it was a reverse mill card that was so teal that it was banned everywhere except Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged.
You draw 2 extra cards
Sam Kinnear you must be new
Man the people at my card shop must be so much more close then. Everyone asks for advice mid-duel, everyone seems so happy to help all the time, I even left all of my cards sitting on a table alone while I watched a duel and I went back and everything was there still.
Man, i wish there's a card shop in my city i really want to play yu gi oh with other players not just play yugioh videogames
Maxfire89 Same bro, I live on a reservation for Native Americans over in SD so there isn't even a card shop anywhere, and the nearest town is like a half hour away. So I feel you, fellow duelist.
I live in the UK. Nobody here plays yugioh. Most players are in london.
But here in manchester there’s no one to play with.

Thank you for teaching/reminding the public people about these important factors of etiquette. Bless you all.
I smacked someone in the face for handling my cards while eating. they had that typical what the fuck was that for reaction and it escalated from there.
+Mike Smash I don't blame you one bit tbh
When I was like 7 I had one of my blue eyes ultimate stolen at a bots and girls club and I had looked everywhere to find it but one of the teenagers I found out later that they walk out and pocketed it. I was devastated by it especially as a kid
If a little kid sits on front of me he's gonna get this work.
Bruhhman1024 what are you, a priest?
Most of these unspoken rules are selfexplenetori, but it's still good to know. I'm going to regionals for the first time so this is quite a helpfull video to know what to do and expect. Thanks guys!
"Grown men shouldn't wear crocs in the first place" 😂
I remember buying the Joey starter deck in Toys R Us and then heading straight into their tourney and summoning Red Eyes from my hand, the guy I was facing against was so nice and explained the game to me. 9 years later and I still play the game
Love how halve of the rules Trel say are ones he complains about all the time, hence spoken all the time lol
weopenest23 Whaaa??
Trell T well, I should emphasize you always complain about people needing to shower, literally one of the most prominent things you talk about; also you being a Infernoid fanboy, which I can respect.
weopenest23 And why shouldn't he? Common courtesy is something that all people should be using anyway, and Yu-Gi-Oh players aren't an exception
Your friend is a tool. He needs to get good
why the dude on the right look like tretoad?
+Ahmmad K I'm Toadally Awesome.
Boi you look like you were set two turns too long.
I'm a little tiny bit of a backseat dueler, mainly because I'm teaching my friend to play, so I'm helping and stuff, but sometimes I just can't help myself
