      @@AllthingsStyledbyPamit isn't a hate symbol. Don't let other people hatred cloud your judgement. It is a great piece of headgear, practical and useful, used for thousands of years by middle eastern people (the shemagh itself, the concept of a large piece of cotton wrapped around your head is worldwide spread troughout history xD).

    For anyone watching, don’t waste $ on the fancy super tacticool shemaghs they sell nowadays. Decide what fabric u want, some folks use cotton, some prefer wool, and search your closet for old bed sheets/covers.
    If u don’t have any old ones laying around, Walmart sells raw fabric for an affordable price, and even has “remnant” fabric(the stuff left over from other projects/end of rolls) and they sell 2-4 yards for $3-$5. If u shop in-store, u will be amazed at the remnant selection they have available, u can find the perfect fabric for your custom shemagh.
    All a shemagh is, is a square piece of fabric,40”x40” -50”x50” usually with knots to stop the fray cuz sewing isn’t manly.
    So, You can spend $10-$25 for the brand name on a precut “military shemagh” made of unknown fabric quality from China
    Or u could spend that $25 on fabric your own hand selected, and have enough fabric to make 2 or 3 CUSTOM shemaghs. So u could have a cotton one for warm temps. And a wool for cold(wool would be more expensive, but if u know ur fabrics, the remnant section is a poor man’s paradise.

    • @newageselfreliance
      @newageselfreliance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank You so much for sharing your knowledge. Is the Remnant section with the rest of the fabric? I might have to look into getting some scraps for different projects.

    If it’s cold and wet, cotton on your skin will kill you. Unlike wool or synthetics, wet cotton sucks out your body heat instead of keeping you insulated. Good vid!

    • @newageselfreliance
      @newageselfreliance  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Cotton is only dangerous when it gets wet. If you keep it dry like you would a down jacket or sleeping bag it works just fine. Thank you so much for watching I really appreciate your support.

    • @JL-fx7ob
      @JL-fx7ob 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wolf Pack Woodcraft 10-4. You gotta prep for your environment with your materials/supplies. I wouldn’t take a cotton sleeping bag to Alaska nor a down jacket to explore the wet Amazon. You need to man up, jump I that creek, and fix your hair😂.

    • @jimbopaw
      @jimbopaw ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These originate from places where dust and midday sun are more of a problem than cold and rain. They are not suitable for strong cold and rain. However they are airy, they are woven with different kinds of cotton and would be worn in double layers which makes them more resistant to rain than a typical plain cotton wrap.

      The link you show looks of good weight 6.3oz. What I looked for before I bought mine was that it weighed about the same as the higher end shemaghs so I know they used heavy gauge cotton. I also wanted to make sure that the pattern was sewn in and not just printed on later. Looking at the close-up picture of the link you showed it does look sewn on (in my opinion of course) I wish they would have given more info. The last thing I look for is if it is made of 100% cotton. Again, I wish they would share more info. I really hope this helps. Even though you can't use my link I still want to say Thank You so much for your support it really means a lot to me.

      I bet paragliding has to be one of the most fun things ever. That feeling of flying is probably addicting. I've never done it and I don't know if I even would if given the chance but it's fun to think about sometimes.

      Shemaghs are great for many things. Making a video isn't one of them. It's hard to talk through the shemagh so the microphone can pick up my voice clearly. Making TH-cam videos makes everything more complicated.

      Yes it is just a large bandana. It will fit under the CDC's "makeshift mask" that they have approved. The issue is I don't know if stores will allow a full head wrap for security reasons.
