I got my hands on the 7200 model, and replaced the HDD with a 1 TB SSD and I gotta say, it is super quiet. From where I'm sitting I can't hear anything. I was playing Final Fantasy XV and I went up close to it and there was a small but barely noticable fan noise, with other less demanding games there's little to none at all. Glad I got this model over the launch! :D
My first generation PS4 pro sounds like a nasa plane launching to the moon. I have 7000 model... where is the video on how to replace the thermal pads and paste I am going to do it ...
I’d make a video myself but I already did it and don’t really want to do it again but I recommend Tech Savvy Buyers tutorial. th-cam.com/video/0LL6ZzoiR98/w-d-xo.html
Racer Boy How much quieter did your 7015 console get after applying the Kryonaut? Was it huge or just noticeable? I still have Kryonaut lying around (was for my PC) but I am hesitant since I don’t want to void my warranty in case there is hardly any noise difference..
I'm not gonna lie I was skeptical at first and last sunday I sat down and completely took apart my pro cleaned it and changed both the thermal paste and pads (thermo grizzly) and I'm impressed games like gran turismo sport, Detroit become human, Spider-Man, and GoW have gone from turn my pro into a warfighter jet to a damn whisper I definitely recommend this
@@OrphicB Lol.. take care of my console? Smh.. I always dusted it off few times a week, vacuuming the vents, had it standing on top of a table with perfect airflow. I had it replaced 2 times by a NEW sealed console and the fan noise was always as loud even when it just got out of the box. Try a X1X and you'll know what I'm talking about Sony pony.
@@Jdogg4089 my PS5 is quiet in terms of fan noise but it does have coil whine but it doesn’t both me personally since I can’t hear it over my sound bar or headset.
You're gonna want to replace the thermal paste on the APU. If you're comfortable doing it yourself, it's not the difficult, but you just got to watch some videos. Mine was the same until I had the paste replaced
I have the pro from the RDR2 bundle, the coil whine is fricken insane. The fan itself is far quieter than the coil whine. Impossible to play unless wearing headphones or cranking the volume on my monitor. I can tell it’s coil whine based upon the the FPS, the tone changes when looking at the environment normally and looking at the sky or ground. Also when I quit a game the noise instantly cuts but the fan still runs perfectly smooth as it cools down. I don’t get how Sony sees this as acceptable.
Just trying to help people out. I currently managed to get my hands on a PS5 and may make some videos on it soon. Depends on how I’m feeling and if something needs to be covered.
I had issues with my PS4 pro were I could hear the fans over my speakers so replaced the stock paste with liquid metal using conformal coating on the SMDs. My PS4 now runs near silent and I haven’t noticed fan speeds increasing even after an hour or so of playing, you can also feel the difference putting your hand on the console where the centre is cool and the back is hotter.
I have an early 2017 model and it works great sounds super quiet I changed the thermal paste before that it was a little loud but I also keep my console very clean so it runs very quiet
I buy the first PS Pro and is incredible noisy litteraly painfull!! For Red Dead Bundle i see they change the CUH # than i buy it and wow the difference is by 90% better! No regret to switch it!
I have a one x, just bought the red dead 2 bundle pro! The one x is definitely way quieter! I bought the pro for exclusives and the one x for basically all my second party games! I also have rdr2 for the x! I'm gong to test the differences! But their both awesome consoles each have their pros and cons
My X1X is a little bit quieter that my Pro but both are pretty quiet. Wolfenstein 2 is the only game that makes my Xbox get kind of loud but it’s not bad at all. I might upload a noise comparison with my launch Scorpio edition X1X and my launch Pro.
Love the design of the Scorpio edition. I find the Standard X1X bland. I’d love to get one of the platinum Taco Bell X1Xs but there over $600+ on eBay. The 500 Million and Spider-Man Pro also look very nice.
@@racerboyo I really wanted the project Scorpio edition, because it sounded cool and it also says it on the console! It's still my favorite special edition
I have both also and not sure what you mean by their isn’t shit to play on the X .... PS4 has awesome exclusives but other than that the X has all the major title games plus tons of backwards compatible games... both have their strengths .... X is a powerhouse whisper quiet system, literally no noise at all under any circumstance...
The fans aren’t specific to a model number and it’s random which fan you end up with which explains why my 7015 has a Nidec fan and the 7215 in the video has a delta fan. Same goes for the new PS5 and with that system there’s 3 different fans.
@@racerboyo yes my 7016 have a nidec fan... And i bought 7216 but fan have a coil whine the console it's new i'm afraid that over time the noise will increase
@@Edgewell16 the coil whine is caused by 2 blue capacitors in the power supply. The noise will vary by game to game due to different power draw but it won’t get worse over time. The PS5 is also victim to the capacitor buzzing too but it’s nothing so worry about.
I bought a refurbished model 7015 and returned it right away that thing sounded like a fighter jet I ended up exchanging it for a 7215 and it's a whole lot better almost no sound I can finally game at night while my wife sleeps lol.

bookerC64 bro I got the bundle with the ps4 pro so I think that’s the cuh 7215 cause it just came out not even 2 months ago but yeah I hear you modern warfare makes it relatively loud. I can’t hear it with my headphones on at decent volume about 6 feet away at all but when they’re off I can kinda hear it
Microsoft put a very effective vapor chamber copper heat sink in the X1X while Sony put a decent standard copper heat sink in the Pro. The main issue with the older Pros is the terrible stock thermal paste and thermal pads. Changing the stock thermal paste and pads on the older Pros fixes the loud fan issue and the 7200 is pretty quiet out of the box. If your Pros fan noise bothers you I highly recommend changing the stock thermal paste and thermal pads or trading your existing pro in for the 7200 model.
Racer Boy ... A lot of people don’t want to crack open there model and risk damaging it... Plus it will void any warrantee... 7200 sounds like they way to go ...
I have the original 7015 and it has the nidec fan. I took it apart yesterday to clean it because it was so loud and it made a slight difference. Nothing crazy though considering it took me two hours to get it done.
@@racerboyo I did change out the thermal paste and it did make a difference just not as much as I had hoped. I'm just glad it turned on and hasn't overheated on me yet.
It would be cool if you did a comparison at normal ambient temps - Clearly your ambient temp was very cold. No one's pros are THAT quiet with normal temp, just saying.
I have the RDR2 Pro Bundle (CUH-7216b). Overall it is fairly quiet, but on RDR2 I can hear this coil whine (if that is what it is), its fairly low to medium for me.
@@tbc_castles782 Kind of like a buzzing noise yes. I'm just hoping that it's completely normal, I've had the PRO for like 3 weeks. My previous base PS4 (2013 release model) was only ever loud on the newer games, and that was the fans only.
@@LPeck1985 Yeah mine has it too then totally stops once the game is closed so we know it's not a fan issue. I mean if yours is still going almost a month later I would be more inclined to say it's okay have you noticed any issues with the console or just the buzzing noise?
@@tbc_castles782 Just the buzzing noise pal, and pretty much only on RDR2. I really only noticed it because I had the TV on mute. I knew all about the coil whine etc, but also thought that the newer model of the PRO (RDR2 Bundle Version) was a revised model that had addressed this issue.
@@LPeck1985 I see, do you notice if your console near the disk drive makes two faint "tick tick" noises when being powered on and off? Got a new one and the buzzing isn't there so far but it has two tick noises on start up and shut down
The B means it ships with a 1tb HDD. A = 500gb (most original models and early slims) B = 1tb (few original models, newer slims and most Pros) C = 2tb (as of early 2019 only the 500 million Pro)
It’s the original model and in terms of build quality it’s in my opinion the best model. If the noise bothers you and you don’t mind taking the machine apart you can always replace the thermal paste and thermal pads and while your at it give the unit a good clean. Once you do that you’ll have the quietist and coolest running PS4 Pro.
Thanks man. My PS4 (CUH-7216B) to me sounded like the fan was hitting something, or it was orherwise defective. Now I know it's just because the fan makes such a wierd noise. I literally couldn't sleep because od it. Thanks again!
@@AlonsoRedToxic Dunno, I could have a look tomorrow. I haven't used it in a while. The super loud fan and Sony being Sony pushed me to build a desktop. Is the Nidec fan measurably better?
I got a 7116 from a friend to test with my new 28" 4K HDR monitor, incredible look compared to the slim with 1080p , but also incredible noise. Got me the 7216 on a 300 bucks deal and had both models to test the same like you, couldn't believe that its true, difference like day and night. But I had the feeling the 7216 got slightly hotter due to not cooled down by a jet turbine.
I feel that the 7200s fan just doesn’t spin as much as the older revisions. I don’t mine that it runs hotter as long as it doesn’t actually overheat which it doesn’t.
@@racerboyo Thats true, in another vid someone measured the temperature from the CUH-7200 Series and it was slightly under 70°C. That are temperatures I dream for with my gaming laptop under stress.
If it’s fan noise that goes up and down then yes a thermal paste upgrade would more than likely fix it. I’d also recommend upgrading the thermal pads for the ram modules.
@@racerboyo That would be nice since I'm currently downloading Wolfenstein 2 and I guess both games (Doom) are pretty demanding. My pro sounds like a jet taking off while playing Doom.
Karazu X If you don’t mind taking the console apart I would highly recommend changing the stock thermal paste and thermal pads. It’s pretty easy and takes about 30-60 mins depending on your comfort and experience level of taking things apart. The Pro is easy because there are arrows that point to the screw holes and there’s only about 2-4 different screw sizes. If you have the time and tools I highly recommend it.
There both good but I think the CUH 7015 is built slightly better internally due to it having an extra metal shield on the APU. However If you can get ahold of one the PS5 is definitely the PlayStation to get as it plays almost every PS4 game is performance is significantly better. The PS5 is also quieter than every model of the PS4.
I have the 7016b been playing God of War actually... It is noisy sometimes but if it really bothers me then I just stick on the headphones, I would be interested in the 7300 whenever that comes however it will probs be time for PS5 soon enough with backwards compatibility.
@@racerboyo yeah they could move from 16nm to 14nm which would cut power consumption a bit like 20-30w. To get it real slim like the XO X they would have to put in a vapor chamber cooling which would add cost sure but offset that via being slimmer i.e less materials. Mind saying that I think PS5 will have vapor chamber so maybe they will have it on the slim pro because having a similar design saves on costs.
I have CUH-7015 model and after maintenance, it still makes a lot of noise in God of War. It sounds like an aeroplane. Does anyone have the CUH-7215 to confirm if this model doesn't make that noise? I don't want to make an additional purchase in vain
It matters more that the thermal paste is fresh and high quality, such as MX-4 for example, and I’d also suggest swapping the thermal pads on the RAM modules. Another TH-camr by the name of TechSavvyBuyer made a great guide in 2018. It doesn’t really matter which model you buy/have at this point since they all have old thermal paste unless a previous owner has changed it themselves. And even with fresh thermal paste it will still make some fan noise on games like God of War and the 2 Pro’s in this video are both just about best case samples. If you can afford it I’d just suggest getting a PS5 as the fan noise is near non-existent on that console and plays all the same games as the PS4 Pro and most of them even better. I’ve had the original PS5 since the day it came out and it’s still as quiet as the day I got it. Lastly, one thing to try is playing with the top cover removed and the fan exposed, it’s a ghetto solution but I used it briefly before changing the thermal paste and pads on my CUH-7015. Hope this info helps and isn’t to overwhelming or confusing.
Have the first generation one I believe - by the jet engine haha - and I don't really mind to be honest, I always have headphones on and never hear them :) Happy Holidays everyone!
7100 is fine no coil whine but when playing god of war and rdr2 its loud af! i might need to replace it with a paste and pads. i have a nidec any thoughts? Metallic or Paste?
I recommend either MX-4 or Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste and Thermal Grizzly thermal pads. Make sure the pads are only 1 millimeter thick. Liquid metal is great but risky. It can spill out on the board and destroy the system and it also slowly eats away the heatsink over time. It is however very good at transferring heat but personally I wouldn’t use liquid metal on a console. Quality thermal paste works just fine.
I have the 7016 b and when i launch god of war my fan become a beast please tell me if it’s normal or my ps4 is broken and i have to change something (i have already cleaned the fan)
It’s not broken but I’m not sure if it’s common. Mine used to do it too and to fix it you need to change the stock thermal paste and thermal pads. There’s plenty of guides on TH-cam and it’s fairly easy and cheap to do. I recommend Tech Savvy Buyers video.
Tengo el 7115b lo compre usado se escuchava como avion despegando le hice limpieza estaba muy sucio u cambio de pasta termica aparte le hice un mod de agujero en la tapa donde va el ventilador y ahora es silencioso
So which one should so I can game in silence because I got red dead for the original ps4 and it sounds like a fucking rocket taking off and my ps4 also heats up a lot and I get the message on screen saying it overheated, so which one should of these 2 ps4 should I buy ?
You can’t really get the older models new anymore without paying extra so I’d recommend just getting a new 7200 Pro. The slim is ok but if your upgrading I’d say get the Pro because it’s only $100 more for over double the GPU power and faster load times.
Great question, but I can’t confirm or deny but I’d assume they are became the plugs are the same and the molding looks the same at a glance. I’ve swapped fans from different model PS2s and they work but don’t fit as snug.
Can I ask how do u clean the OG PS4 because I still have the first one that was released years ago and it’s loud AF but I don’t know how to clean the fan so do u have a video on how to clean the fan I would greatly appreciate the help bro.
I don’t personally have a video but there’s a bunch of other great guides on TH-cam. It’s pretty easy as long as you get the right screw and take your time. Here’s a decent guide th-cam.com/video/RceNsKmh6YQ/w-d-xo.html

Does the jet sound can cure ? I found many from Google, even TH-cam, but can't get a solution. Very annoy :( :(
Yes at the time of this video the new thermals were applied around a month prior this video was recorded. It’s still held up well to this day too and I highly recommend it to anyone with an older model Pro that’s OCD about the sound.
My 7215 sounds like an airplane engine, I can´t play more than 2 hours because the sound is intolerable. I cleaned the console and changed the thermal paste 3 months ago, it was quiet during the first month but then the goddamn noise came back, i´m frustrated.
@@frankorojas9767 I used the same paste you did but I just put a pea sized dot in the middle of the APU and I used thermal grizzly thermal pads on the RAM. Made my 7015 model much quieter and it’s held up rather well the past two years. I’ve never spread thermal paste before but I’ve heard it can cause air bubbles which hurt its performance over time and that probably explains why yours got loud again. I have recently retired my Pro though since I managed to secure a PS5 on launch day and I’ve been using that now.
Mr. Masse the fan is on the right side and the left vents don’t do too much. You should feel cool air in the right and warm to hot air from the back. If your Pro is uncomfortably loud I’d suggest getting it exchanged at the retailer you bought it from.
Just saw this video, wanted to echo your point about replacing the thermal paste on the CUH-7015. I used Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut on mine and the difference is night and day, my XBO-X is still quieter, but it close now. I couldn't stand how loud my Pro was before, but now I can actually game on it again hehe... I'll be replacing the paste on my X too.
I played Borderlands 3 in split screen (runs like ass) and I put my ear right next to my PS4 Pro and it sounded nearly completely silent. The extended storage was louder than it.
Thanks alot I was so pissed today because I got a slick ps4 pro glacier white brought it back home turned it on all happy n shit and it made that weird crackling noise once I saw this vid I was so damn relived thx alot
My ps4 pro 7200 just started making a buzzing noise in the back of the system since last week does anybody have a idea what it is and should I be worried?
It’s more than likely just coil whine. Both PS4 Pros in this video have it and even the new PS5 does as well. It’s perfectly fine and your PS4 will still work fine but some people are annoyed by the noise. No need to worry about it.
There is nothing big between those 2 interms of sound comparison. keep your decks clean for godsake ! the only reason why 7000-7100 series received so much false complaints were because they were older vs 7200 and more dust were stucked in the ones whose owners were shouting out loud. any ps4 pro regardless of it's CUH series, are same in desing and noise they are making... this is a false topic to even discuss...
@@cyberdejin that was exactly a point I was trying to make in 2018 about the 7200 model. If you kept it clean and changed the thermal paste and thermal pads you’d end up with a console just as quiet as the revised model if not more so.
Ask the owner how loud it typically gets. Typically early and poorly taken care of units get loud and the later ones are quieter. If you don’t mine taking the unit apart changing the thermal paste will always make it quiet.

Is it as quiet as the ps4 slim ? I have the slim but was going to get a pro cos I have a 4k tv now and figured I'd waste some money on a new gadget that I don't realy need lol
My personal launch Pro is quieter than most PS4s I’ve seen because I’ve replaced the stock thermal paste and thermal pads and the 7200 is just a quiet if not quieter than most Slims but mileage may vary between units. Overall fan noise isn’t an issue with the 7200 Pro and I would highly recommend one if you have a 4K TV.
Got a 721b / rdr2 bundle in the uk and its pretty quite bar some bits in rdrd2 - usually looking around wide sceneries. Its acceptable though so ill keep it til ps5 slim comes out in 3-5years Not as quite as my slim but then again, graphics and frame rates is worth the minor upgrade
7015's disk drive sounds like what i would hear in a normal pc drive, uncontrollably spinning... off the shelf pc part maybe? and 7215's disk drive sounds like my ps2 slim lol
The drives in most if not all older PS4s sound like that when you first turn off the console or with the first disk you insert when it’s turned on. It’s also loud like that when installing the game on all PS4s. As for it being off the shelf the PS4 disk drives are custom made by Sony. Sony has been using custom drives since the PS1. I’m glad you noticed the drive difference because no one else seems to notice.
No not at all when it comes to functionality, however there’s a higher chance the fan might me loud depending on how used it was. Most of the changes for the latter revisions of PS4s just make things cheaper to manufacture.
@@racerboyo I see, glad to hear that! I really don't mind the loudness cause I always use headphones. I'm just worried that the performance and fps might be lowered.
@@kuso4506 it’s super easy to clean the fan which can help a little bit if the fan is running loud but the only hard solution is to completely take apart the console and clean the heatsink and change the thermal paste and upgrading the thermal pads for the RAM. If you’re confident with taking apart electronics it’s on the easier side and well worth doing but if not headphones or loud speakers work too. There’s also a chance it’s not loud either but I’d thought I’d share some suggestions if it annoys you.
Is that all the difference between the two? I have the older model and every time I play dmc5, a.c. odysessy, or RDR2 it sounds like it's ready to grow wings and take off. Never really had problems with God of war but for some reason those games trigger it
There is probably a fan RPM limit on the newer model because it’s fan noise is much more consistent than the older launch model. My 7015 used to go from silent to max speed to mid level back to max and then be quiet than max speed. It was annoying as hell because I don’t mind fan noise as long it’s consistent but my fan was out of control. When I took apart my Pro I found that one of the thermal pads on the ram was t even fully on the chip so that was the problem with mine. My launch Pro is fairly quiet these days but it’s still inconsistent. My brothers 7200 still sounds the same as it did when it was new so it’s holding up well. I manly play Destiny 2 and both Pros in my house are pretty quiet. It’s honestly not worth upgrading to the new model but I would recommend changing the stock thermal paste and thermal pads. I used thermal grizzly for both. Sorry for the long reply lol
Dequarius Walker I play both but more of a PVE guy. I just ran 6 raids this weekend. PVP is ok but Dust rock, Luna’s, Ward-cliff and spectral blades get old and I have yet to touch comp this season. You could also tell from the profile pic that I’m a salty Titan main lol.
@@racerboyo lol no worries. I've reach fable this season solo and deleted the game due to comp and having no friends to basically do pve with. It's a shadow of a game compared to it's former self and I don't blame you for being a salty titan main.
Dequarius Walker. I remember hitting fabled in comp the first week of Forsaken because of all the PS Plus noobs and my team got a nice 25+ win streak. Me and my buddies we’re all mad at each other a few months ago so I didn’t play much during Black armory since I was lonely and didn’t want to look for new people to play with. We just got back together last week and I’ve been enjoying my time with the game again.
My launch Pro was loud on MW 2019 in the menus and it always drove me insane. I know it’s still hard to find but the PS5 is worth the upgrade for the quiet fan noise alone.
The 7215 in this video isn’t mine it’s my brothers. My 7015 is still going strong after replacing the thermals. I would highly recommend just disassembling the 7015 and changing the paste and pads since it’s about $25 for both and the screw driver to disassemble the console, assuming it’s the quieter fan noise for your motivation to upgrade.

The CUH-7000 is overall better built then the CUH-7100. It has a nice metal support plate that covers the back side of the APU and RAM. There’s some with bad thermal paste and pad application but for the most part I think the 7000 is the best Pro.
Andrei Toader I just looked mine is CUH-7016B aswell and playing any non enhanced games it's very quiet but playing pro enhanced titles makes the fans kick in, I heard God of War is the game to make it loudest yet I just got it and it's loud on the main menu but quiets down once I hit continue... weird? Detroit BH makes it loud but not as bad as some videos I've saw on TH-cam!
Its likely dry or crappy thermal paste then. If you don’t mind disassembling the entire console then it’s well worth doing once the warranty expires after 1 year

I plan to buy a ps4 pro and I would like to ask you a question, which model seemed more reliable or which works better? Greetings from Argentina and sorry if the question is poorly formulated (use a translator) Thanks in advance
Both models are reliable but the 7200 is newer so you are more likely to find one in better condition. If you care about the noise level of the fan, I would strongly recommend changing the thermal paste with MX-4 and upgrading the thermal pads as well. But in all honestly I don’t recommend the PS4 Pro anymore because a PS5 can do everything a PS4 Pro can do and even better and much quieter. PS5 also aren’t hard to find anymore and are easy to order and I’ve seen them in retail shops as well. I would recommend just saving more money for a PS5 and I’d recommend getting the one with the disc drive so you can buy cheap used PS4 and PS5 games.
@@racerboyo You're absolutely right, thanks to backward compatibility I can buy physical PS4 games and the PS5 recognizes them without any problem. but there is a problem related to that and that is that the ps5 consoles and especially with the floppy drive cost much more money and even used ones are more expensive (new ps5 $900 and used ps4 pro $450). I really thought about the option of the ps5 that also comes with liquid cooling metal but it costs twice as much as a ps4 pro and I'm talking about used ones. As a last option I buy a cheap ps4 pro in good condition and I make a Modd to make a hole in the lid, I do the maintenance of the pads and I have a good console left. In Argentina there are many price problems, surely in the United States it would be nice to buy a ps5 from afar but not here :( Thanks for your help anyway
@@lean_drito7256 with the PS4 Pro you could also just leave the lid off if you want more cooling with minimal effort. I used to do that when playing God of War before I changed the thermal paste and pads. Sorry to hear about the prices of consoles in your area.
@@racerboyo It's true, just like any Sony or Microsoft console will get hot because they come fully refrigerated. With the ps4 I can play all or almost all the exclusives to this day since they came out for ps4 and ps5 but in 2024 onwards they will stop coming out for ps4. I'll see what I do but I can still play many exclusives with good graphics on the ps4 pro. Thank you for your recommendation and help =)
From what I have read, the newer ps pros are quiter but generate more watts. As where the first generation ps pros are like a bloody vaccum but generate less watts usage.
All Pros have similar power consumption. The 7100 for some odd reason is the most power efficient with the 7200 in the middle and the 7000 being the most power hungry. Some tests I’ve seen don’t use the same game. TronicsFix compared Tomb Raider on a 7000 to Red Dead 2 on a 7200. Digital Foundry used God of War.
A refurbished 7000 with a Nidec fan and replaced thermal paste and thermal pads is the best Pro in my opinion but I would just recommend buying a new 7200. It would be a pain in the ass to track down a new 7000 so you would have to buy used. I’ve never used a 7100 but from what I’ve heard the 7000 is better built and the 7200 is better than the 7100. 7000 (Nidec/refurbished) > 7200 (new/Delta or Nidec) > 7100 (used/Nidec) > 7000 (Delta/used) > 7100 (Delta/used). Remember just my opinion If you want the best Pro possible and don’t mind buying used and taking the system apart get a 7000 with a Nidec fan but if that’s too much work just buy a new 7200.
There are 3 different models 7000, 7100 and 7200. The 7000 and 7100 use the same power cable and the 7200 uses the same cable as the original and slim PS4s. I would say get the 7200 because most 7000 and 7100 models have loud fans unless the stock thermal pads and thermal paste are replaced. Lastly I really wouldn’t recommend the PS4 Pro anymore now that the PS5 is out since the PS5 runs all the games drastically better. I know that PS5s are sold out everywhere and really hard to find but I’d say it’s well worth waiting until spring or summer to get the PS5 instead. If you currently have a regular PS4 I’d say just get a big external HDD or even SSD at the moment because it also works on PS5 and you don’t have to reinstall anything and it frees up space on the PS5s internal drive. The Pro is ok if you find one for under $200 with some games and accessories but even if it’s your first PS4 just get the PS5 because it plays all the games and with PS Plus you get the Plus collection which has 20 of the best PS4 games for free.
Thanks a lot for responding man! I would really love getting a ps5 as you recommend but right now but dont have the money for it, ive owned a ps4 fat for bout 4 years of almost daily usage and want to sell it to get a ps4 pro with about a year of usage, just because i feel like mi ps4 is really dirty in the inside and deffinetly cant do all the cleaning because i know i will screw it up jajaja, thats why im looking for another ps4 but really cant afford right now either a new ps4 slim nor a ps4 pro you know, just want to change my old ps4 fat for a not so old ps4 and wanted to upgrade to the ps4 pro, what do you think about that man is it worth it changing it for a ps4 pro even do its a little bit used ? Would really like to read your opinion
@@kobym5134 again I would say just stick with your old PS4 and save up for a PS5 instead. The Pro is a minor upgrade when compared to the PS5 and not really worth the upgrade anymore, especially on 1080p displays. If your too scared to take apart and clean your PS4 I would recommend vacuuming the vents. It’s not the most effective method but it still helps.
I have to CUH7215 but for some reason mine sounds like a jet engine or maybe it’s because it doesn’t have enough space for airflow, because where I play is very cramped up maybe that’s why or I don’t know man by the way mines is used I got it from GameStop and maybe that’s why I don’t know
I had red ps4pro, it lasted 9 months then died. Sony sent me another one, I've had it for 8 months and it's now overheating and loud as hell. Just bought new fan/thermal paste off amazon to try to fix the noise
buddypng31 that’s weird cause I’ve used the launch pro in this video daily for hours on end and it’s still going strong. By any chance is yours in a open an well ventilated area or is it tucked away in a cabinet?
Good question. Its away from the wall in an open area. My guess is dust and dog hair may be the culprit? Researching this leads me to believe heat sink may be clogged with dust but when I opened top, fan wasnt that dirty so idk
buddypng31 pet hair does tend to clog the heat sinks on anything and the fan usually doesn’t get that dirty it’s the side of the heat sink next to the fan. Assuming your console is over a year old and the warranty is expired if you remove the back cover and the power supply you can get the the clean side of the heat sink and blast air threw it to blow the crap off the dirty side. You should see the chunky fly out of the fan area and just clean from there. If it’s not that dirty then unfortunately you probably just got unlucky. Hope these tips help. Racer boy hahaha that’s a good thing, I should do that too. could you make other comparisons like this? Maybe with other“ heavy” games like God of War, it would be awesome
Rok 27 I’ll test Spider-Man, Monster Hunter and Hitman 1 and 2 when I get the chance. Do you want to see both Pros or just one? I can test the 7000 anytime because it mine but the 7200 is my brothers but when he’s not using it I can test it but there could be a wait.
Hi everyone. I just launched my first game on PS4 Pro 7216B and my attention was caught by the specific buzzing sound from the inside of the console. Looking for the source of the problem after a minute, I found out that the coil produces such a sound and only in titles adapted to the Pro console. On my own example, I checked how the intensity changes when changing settings 60 / 30fps and whether the sound disappears immediately after closing the game. There have been many reports of this problem from PlayStation 4 Pro on the network and there is a small chance that after replacing with a new one, we will get equipment free of this problem, which is reported by others who have asked for replacement of the console several times. So I ask the shop for a refund and I'm saying goodbye to Pro version. I do not expect an answer to this post, I just want to warn other users that their problem is not isolated.
Its unfortunately a common issue for the 7200 revision. Most early 7000 units are fine but some can have coil whine. I also believe it’s rather common in the 7100 revision as well. Coil whine is also rather common in mid rage graphics cards. My R9 390 in my old desktop had some noticeable coil whine. It sucks but you can always exchange it at the store you buy it at.

Did you just say I should buy a new one if it’s loud 😡😡that’s mad extra. Rather just do the thermal paste, pads and clean it. Why go spend 200 when I don’t have to
TrainNkill ... I know what you mean, I stopped playing really demanding titles on my pro and kept that to the X it was just ridiculous.. Seriously jet engine take off noise, up and down randomly goes really high... X with RD2 makes absolutely zero noise, whisper quiet ....
I have the same model as you, I changed my thermal paste and all the pads using Thermal Grizzly products huge difference. I can finally enjoy my PS4 pro now.
Wolverine123 I forgot I made this comment lol. I changed the thermal paste a few months ago for the best one I could fine. It made the console much quieter... for a few weeks, now it’s as loud as normal again. I’m praying the ps5 isn’t this loud.
Most of 72XX models have coil whine and it can be really annoying. Once you have it you cannot forget it. I've just returned my item cause it really pissed me off.. It is hearable from a few metres with no problem, so there is many the same cases in net, some even saying that they've gone through 5-8 units and all had this problem. My colleague had the same problem and also returned his piece.. When there is silence it is hard to live with that noise.
And the sound is worse that normal fan noise. It seems that you have to be REAALLYY lucky to have this problem irrelevant. I, my colleague and one guy - 3 people - sth like 6 pieces of 7216B and none of them perfect and silent - one more silent than the other five.

I had issues with my PS4 pro were I could hear the fans over my speakers so replaced the stock paste with liquid metal using conformal coating on the SMDs. The fans aren’t specific to a model number and it’s random which fan you end up with which explains why my 7015 has a Nidec fan and the 7215 in the video has a delta fan. Same goes for the new PS5 and with that system there’s 3 different fans.

Man no matter what the Pro is loud I have both the x and pro the x is so silent don’t know why they couldn’t figure this out like the x did
Microsoft put a very effective vapor chamber copper heat sink in the X1X while Sony put a decent standard copper heat sink in the Pro.

If you don’t mind taking the console apart I would highly recommend changing the stock thermal paste and thermal pads. It’s pretty easy and takes about 30-60 mins depending on your comfort and experience level of taking things apart. The Pro is easy because there are arrows that point to the screw holes and there’s only about 2-4 different screw sizes. If you have the time and tools I highly recommend it.
Great vid !! so which one do u think is good for long term use??
There both good but I think the CUH 7015 is built slightly better internally due to it having an extra metal shield on the APU.
However If you can get ahold of one the PS5 is definitely the PlayStation to get as it plays almost every PS4 game is performance is significantly better. The PS5 is also quieter than every model of the PS4.
I have the 7016b been playing God of War actually... It is noisy sometimes but if it really bothers me then I just stick on the headphones, I would be interested in the 7300 whenever that comes however it will probs be time for PS5 soon enough with backwards compatibility.
I think the next Pro would likely be a slim model probably a year before PS5 or released at the same time.
Got a pa4 slim new at same price with that of ps4 pro 7106b version. Not sure which one to get. As ps4 pro seems to be loud
I find that all the PS4 models can get loud but it depends on the game, dust build up, and quality of the thermal paste application.
Have the first generation one I believe - by the jet engine haha - and I don't really mind to be honest, I always have headphones on and never hear them :) Happy Holidays everyone!
7100 is fine no coil whine but when playing god of war and rdr2 its loud af! i might need to replace it with a paste and pads. i have a nidec
any thoughts? Metallic or Paste?
I recommend either MX-4 or Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste and Thermal Grizzly thermal pads. Make sure the pads are only 1 millimeter thick.
Liquid metal is great but risky. It can spill out on the board and destroy the system and it also slowly eats away the heatsink over time. It is however very good at transferring heat but personally I wouldn’t use liquid metal on a console. Quality thermal paste works just fine.
Racer Boy thanks!
Ok thanks 😊
If i continue without fixing it will it broke (because there is nothing in my country to buy)
Oussama Hamouda probably not it’s just annoying hearing the fan go nuts every time you play a good looking game.

You can’t really get the older models new anymore without paying extra so I’d recommend just getting a new 7200 Pro. The slim is ok but if your upgrading I’d say get the Pro because it’s only $100 more for over double the GPU power and faster load times.
Are the fans cross compatible with the different models
Here’s a decent guide

Pro if your PS4 pro or any PS4 has loud fans it's probably because the CPU gets too hot, so a quick fix would he to add a better thermal paste.
Dirty fans and heat sinks are another reason they can get hot and loud.
Mate, mine was did cleaned and pasted thermal.. the sound more louder than new =.=''
The cleaner told me that because mine Pro has cleaned, fan is light, so that makes loud.. =.=''
But I don't think so. My Pro after 1 year i bring to dust clean, I don't think the dust will think as dictionary =.=''
Now days I play MHW, Division 2, the sound like Jet engine, Rocket launching @.@, GT Sport sometimes will, and other game too.. but I'm living in Japan, winter season, room temperature average 15 degree Celsius, when I going back to Malaysia, even I play light game, sometimes also will have little fan sound.
Does the jet sound can cure ? I found many from Google, even TH-cam, but can't get a solution. Very annoy :( :(
Wait, was this test the comparison *after* having applied the thermals on the old model?
Yes at the time of this video the new thermals were applied around a month prior this video was recorded. It’s still held up well to this day too and I highly recommend it to anyone with an older model Pro that’s OCD about the sound.
My 7215 sounds like an airplane engine, I can´t play more than 2 hours because the sound is intolerable.
I cleaned the console and changed the thermal paste 3 months ago, it was quiet during the first month but then the goddamn noise came back, i´m frustrated.
What brand thermal paste did you use?
The same that I use on my PC, thermal grizzly kryonaut
@@frankorojas9767 have you tried upgrading thermal pads? Also how did you apply the paste? Dot? Rice? Spread?
No I haven´t but I should, had no clue of that.
I usually apply it making a cross on the CPU and then I spread it carefully
@@frankorojas9767 I used the same paste you did but I just put a pea sized dot in the middle of the APU and I used thermal grizzly thermal pads on the RAM. Made my 7015 model much quieter and it’s held up rather well the past two years. I’ve never spread thermal paste before but I’ve heard it can cause air bubbles which hurt its performance over time and that probably explains why yours got loud again. I have recently retired my Pro though since I managed to secure a PS5 on launch day and I’ve been using that now.
Hey mate, I bought the 7215b and want to ask when the Ps4 pro is in the ui and all games are closed, is there coming from the left side cold air?
It sucks in cool air on the left and right sides and the rear is the exhaust.
Racer Boy I can feel it on the right side a bit, but on the left it’s nothing like is neutral.. also the Fan isn’t quite
Mr. Masse the fan is on the right side and the left vents don’t do too much. You should feel cool air in the right and warm to hot air from the back. If your Pro is uncomfortably loud I’d suggest getting it exchanged at the retailer you bought it from.
Racer Boy it’s not so loud. But on my brother pro the left side is also cold and on mine not, only the right.
Mr. Masse it should be fine and I wouldn’t worry about it.
My 7216b makes the same clicking sound when it reads the disc. Is it normal
Yea its normal. It’s just the laser moving around to check the disk.

The Airflow on 7200 is quiter
They’re overall similar but the 7200 has a quieter disk drive but the 7000 is also much cooler to the touch.

My ps4 slim does it aswell its hdd

They fix the HDMI Port on the new model?
All the slim and pro models have improved HDMI ports so yea.
Im going to buy a late 2017 used ps4 pro model but i want a quiet one.. Should i take this or search for a newer one?
Ask the owner how loud it typically gets. Typically early and poorly taken care of units get loud and the later ones are quieter. If you don’t mine taking the unit apart changing the thermal paste will always make it quiet.
@@racerboyo thank you my friend i was going to buy a white ps4 pro but i backed off cause i think it's stolen because he doesn't have a warranty and claims it's a gift without a box... I think it's stolen and costs 240 €... It also has one more but black... How possible is that to be alright?
Not sure. Some people have multiple for what ever reason. (Myself included)
My PS4 Slim is quieter than PS4 Pro 7216b
The slims my friends have are all louder than both my Pros. There CUH-2015s and CUH-2115s.
Got a 721b / rdr2 bundle in the uk and its pretty quite bar some bits in rdrd2 - usually looking around wide sceneries.
Its acceptable though so ill keep it til ps5 slim comes out in 3-5years
Not as quite as my slim but then again, graphics and frame rates is worth the minor upgrade
All Ps4s will get loud as hell even the slim. give it several months and it will start to get louder on certain games.
I'm buying a pre-owned ps4 pro for $240 and saw that the model number is CUH-7000. Will there be a problem if I get a first gen ps4 pro console?
@@racerboyo ok I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!
Muito bom o teste, vou pegar um Pro modelo 7215b 👍🏻

Both of yours are much quieter then my first gen. Even with new pads and paste it sounds like a old school Kirby vacuum cleaner. It's annoying af..
My launch Pro was loud on MW 2019 in the menus and it always drove me insane.
I know it’s still hard to find but the PS5 is worth the upgrade for the quiet fan noise alone.
out of curiosity is there something wrong with your cuh 7015? just wondering if it is worth upgrading to a cuh 7215 since I have the 7015
The 7215 in this video isn’t mine it’s my brothers. My 7015 is still going strong after replacing the thermals. I would highly recommend just disassembling the 7015 and changing the paste and pads since it’s about $25 for both and the screw driver to disassemble the console, assuming it’s the quieter fan noise for your motivation to upgrade.
I have a CUH-7016B and it's very quiet,also i had a CUH-7116B and was very loud(i sold this one)...i guess it's about luck.My CUH-7016B is so quiet i barelly hear it.
I have cuh-7016B and is very loud in games like Hitman: Absolution when It have unlock the flame rate.
I have the CUH-7215 and it’s a jet engine. Is everyone’s like this or is it just mine?
My brothers (the one in the video) is fairly quiet but he doesn’t play games too often on it. How old is it?

Is it dirty or fairly clean?
Racer Boy it’s pretty clean I open it up and clean the fan and vents but it’s still very loud.
Its likely dry or crappy thermal paste then. If you don’t mind disassembling the entire console then it’s well worth doing once the warranty expires after 1 year

I plan to buy a ps4 pro and I would like to ask you a question, which model seemed more reliable or which works better?
Greetings from Argentina and sorry if the question is poorly formulated (use a translator)
Thanks in advance
In Argentina there are many price problems, surely in the United States it would be nice to buy a ps5 from afar but not here :(
Thanks for your help anyway
@@lean_drito7256 with the PS4 Pro you could also just leave the lid off if you want more cooling with minimal effort. I used to do that when playing God of War before I changed the thermal paste and pads.

@@racerboyo It's true, just like any Sony or Microsoft console will get hot because they come fully refrigerated. It is always better to have a PC as is my case and that is why I want to buy a Sony console to play their exclusives.
I heard some people said this new model CUH 7215 got very hot after you play a long hour like 3 to 5 hours?
It’s significantly warmer to the touch when compared to my 7015 but I wouldn’t worry about it.
@@racerboyo so in your opinion which one is better ? which one is worth to buy ? Is it still CUH 7100 model?
A refurbished 7000 with a Nidec fan and replaced thermal paste and thermal pads is the best Pro in my opinion but I would just recommend buying a new 7200. It would be a pain in the ass to track down a new 7000 so you would have to buy used.
I’ve never used a 7100 but from what I’ve heard the 7000 is better built and the 7200 is better than the 7100.
7000 (Nidec/refurbished) > 7200 (new/Delta or Nidec) > 7100 (used/Nidec) > 7000 (Delta/used) > 7100 (Delta/used).
Remember just my opinion
If you want the best Pro possible and don’t mind buying used and taking the system apart get a 7000 with a Nidec fan but if that’s too much work just buy a new 7200.
thank you so much sir, you helped me out
Glad it was informative!
How many version of ps4 pro are there? And which one is better im looking to buy a used ps4 pro and want to see which model should i buy
There are 3 different models
7000, 7100 and 7200.
Is the CUH 7215b the same as CUH 7215?

That’s strange and sorry to hear about that
We sometimes use it 8 hrs a day, it gets a lot of use. I guess they are not built to last like most current electronics
buddypng31 that’s weird cause I’ve used the launch pro in this video daily for hours on end and it’s still going strong.

Watching this in 2021 and my 7202b model chilling in my lounge room.
My CUH 7015b is chilling in my closet in it’s box.
@@racerboyo my model is actually from 2020, but only shipped around Australia.
@@thekangaroo1880 in case you were curious the 7215b featured in this video is my brothers Pro and these days I use a PS5.
@@racerboyo nice! A ps5 in Australia costs AUD$1,100 so I'm not planning to get one rignt now haha
Did you just say I should buy a new one if it’s loud 😡😡that’s mad extra. Rather just do the thermal paste, pads and clean it. Why go spend 200 when I don’t have to
No don’t buy a new one, give it’s a deep clean and replace the thermals.
I have the 7015. It was so noisy playing games like red dead that I opened it to clear the dust. It made no difference. It’s way too loud.
Changing the stock thermal paste and thermal pads worked for me.
@@TrainNkill Did you change the thermal pads also?
I think cuh 7215 is a little bit quiet🤔
Very nice, but i would have tested favor frame rate, instead of resolution, to me it's much worse in terms of noise.
In my Country the Number is 7216b 😅
Mine is cuh 7216b
They better have a vapor chamber in the ps5 !
