You guys are the entire reason I'm part of the griddle community. From the Blackstone to the Sierra, I've always counted on you guys to guide me in the right direction. Love the full and open review tonight, but I wish Brett was here to rap Salt and Peppa.....lol!
Haha!!! Brett and the Salt n Peppa is why we exist!!😂😂. We feel the same way about you with our smoker cooks!! We love that this has given us a great relationship brother. Much love and you know we mean it!!💙💙🔥🔥
This whole video shows why you all are one of the best, relatable and most genuine channels on TH-cam. I love the honesty. I'll be honest myself too haha...first time I saw this nonstick coated full size griddle I chuckled because i gave it 20 or so cooks before being junk and pretty much unusable, but after watching your alls cooks and seeing how it has held up I'm quite impressed. Keep rockin' that griddle game!
Wow, thank you brother! I honestly was a bit nervous to post this knowing it was a bit more raw and shows the wear and tear, but the surface is still amazing! We appreciate the love for sure, and really do love it all - we just want to share our love of griddle cooking! Take care and GRIDDLE ON FAM!🔥🔥
100% Some days smoking a shoulder, napping in the lawn chair, listening to a game, and having a few cold adult beverages is heaven on earth. More times than not you got stuff to do!!! I have been noted to put a non-stick griddle on the old BBQ when in a hurry instead the griddle. Keeps the heat out of the house so I use mine almost daily.
Something you guys say a lot. “The griddle will do everything the grill can do, and so much more.” And this is so true. In all my cooks, I have only found 1 thing I thought that a standard grill did better, and that was grilled corn on the cob because I like the little bit of char. Besides that, every single thing I have made has been either better or easier on the griddle. Also, cold rolled steel may be more maintenance, but you can also beat the heck out of it and not worry!
Thank you so much for watching fam!! Absolutely - it really is for the love of cooking, and there is something for everyone, and yes, the maintenance is totally worth it!!🔥🔥
No matter what you guys cook/smoke on, I’m there. I’m a huge fan and always will be. Thank you for all you guys do for those of us who enjoy watching you. As I’ve always said, you guys are awesome. Much love brothers.
Wow - you have been such a great support! Both Brett and I have so much appreciated the love and support you have given us - every time I use my amazing olive oil from Georgia, y’all are on my mind!! Take care brother!!🔥🔥
Brother Adam! So glad you are having success on the Pit Boss Sierra griddle. I have enjoyed and continue to look forward to more delicious cooks in the future. Griddle on!
Really appreciate your fair and honest opinion on both the Blackstone and Pit Boss griddles. Your presentations are respected, and you make the cooks you do look easy enough for even us beginners to do. Love what you guys do and it's always so entertaining! Keep up the great work!
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words Vic! We will always do our best to present the information the best we can, bot good and bad, along the way! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
I am sure that most people wouldn't griddle 130 grills for the entire life of their griddle...happy to see the Pit Boss hold up...I know most of the previous comments were all about the non-stick element would fade away...but kudos to Pit Boss for putting together a quality griddle...you have truly put that thing through the ringer!!! So to answer the question, YES, its worth it...just thinking of the durability as well as the hours you save in cleaning and re-seasoning!!!! Another great tutorial/banger!!!
Absolutely! Thank you brother! No matter how you slice it, they are all great units, and like you said, this ceramic top by Pit Boss is incredible! Much love fam! 🔥🔥
I have remained with the ‘cold rolled steel’ cook surface but I still watch your cooks and make the adjustments for the slight differences. Love y’all and I remain loyal to both of you! Great guys. Great cooks. Awesome teachers! ❤️❤️
Wow, thank you so much for this!! We totally get it, and between the two of us, Brett loves the ceramic, and I lean more toward the cold rolled steel (but we still love both surfaces)! We appreciate the support, and always try to show cooks that can be done on all griddle surfaces. Take care and GRIDDLE ON FAM!🔥🔥
like everyone else has said YOU guys are the reason i got this griddle. i watched others doing griddle stuff, nah ive come to like you guys. your ALWAYS quick to answer questions, and offer assistance. you guys keep doing this and griddle on fam!!!
Thanks from Minnesota. This was very helpful. My wife and I just bought the 2 burner Ultimate and a Pit Boss Sportsman 1100 Smoker as a pair. Enjoying both. Your videos really are educational.
Oh wow, thank you so much for the kind words!! We hope things continue to warm up so you can enjoy the great cooking!! We love that Sportsman too, great selections!! Take care fam!
Adam, I really appreciate your honesty in review of a product that sponsors you, as well as the humbleness that both you and Brett show while cooking. I came across your channel about 9 months ago while watching the Blackstone channel and I've been watching you guys (and cooking your recipes) ever since. Looking forward to my cookbook arriving in January. Thanks guys!
Wow, thank you so much for the love brother! We apologize for such a late response! We appreciate the love and support for sure, and we hope the book arrives sooner!! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Wow, thank you so much brother! We appreciate the support from you and your family! We’ll keep sharing our love of it all for as long as we can! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Adam, thanks for the honest, from the heart, review. While I have a Member's Mark (Sam's Club) griddle, that I have been very pleased with, I've enjoyed all the cooks, tips and tricks that you and Brett have provided. Keep up the great work! Thank you!
Thank you so much fam! This has been our intent with our channel - that no matter what you are cooking on, we want to share our recipes and cooking ideas. Take care, and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
I was torn between the black stone and the pittboss. I think the ease is use is making me lean towards the pittboss. I have a family as well and I think convenience and easy clean up is a top priority. Now the question is the Sierra or Ultimate? Thanks for the videos guys
Haha!! It’s such a tough choice right?! We love the look of the Ultimate Griddle! It’s going to come down to preference, because from what we understand, they are pretty much the same unit, just depends on what size you need!😂😂🔥🔥
Hey Adam, I really loved this video. I currently have three Blackstones (a big 36” for cooking for a crowd, 22 inch for when it is just me and the wifey, and a 17” for the RV). I just took the 36” out of storage, where it has been for a year while our new home was being built. I was fearful that I’d have to grind and re-season from scratch, but I had seasoned it so well that it has held up great. Just a couple weeks back, I picked up the Sierra when it came on sale at Walmart. My wife has a hard time understanding why I wanted it, but what you said in this video is absolutely true! You can use less oil on the Sierra, clean-up is a breeze, but for me, I still need the Blackstone (cold rolled steel…not to offend anyone…😂) because in my view, there isn’t anything better for smash burgers. I just don’t think (so far anyway) that I can get the same crust on the Sierra. Now, if Pit Boss is listening, I’d really like to see a single burner ceramic griddle with a lid like the 17” Blackstone, that does not come with a stand or cart. I would really like one of those for the RV…lighter, easy cleanup, easy on the space requirements, etc. Sure, the Blackstone does the job, but an RV version of the Sierra would be great!
Thank you so much for watching and for this comment! It all makes sense and you aren’t wrong!😂😂. If we get the chance, we will definitely let Pit Boss know scout the smaller unit! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Thank you so much Bobbi! It was a bit nerve-racking putting this out there, but in the end, we love griddle cooking and wanted to share it all! Take careb🔥🔥💙💙
The last Grill I purchased I did some corrosion protection. As I assembled it I used automotive primer in the leg tubes, I undercoated the trays, I used high heat silicone on all the screws and bolts. It has lasted almost 10 years. I recommend that anyone with a new Grill do some corrosion protection, it will make you Grill last a lot longer.
I have used Blackstone for about 4 years and love it. Getting ready to move to Florida and hoping to put together an outdoor kitchen where my griddle will be the focal point of cooking. Love your videos and tips.
Granted, the humidity here in Iowa is a far cry from Florida, but I've tossed a few silica packets in there when I put my cover on and I've been rather lucky with pealing/rust stuff on my Camp Chef. Might be worth a shot? Great update, well done!
I live in SW Florida and was really considering this one. I just bought the Blackstone Pro Series 28XL with the range top from Walmart today. I liked the ceramic top on the Pit Boss being in Florida but needed the side burners. I am used to cooking with cast iron pans so I'm not too concerned with the maintenance. If Pit Boss comes out with a model with a side burner I'd be sold.
Adam, marvelous video, I think a lot of people have been waiting for this one for awhile. Just like you guys, I love using an assortment of cooking tools and methods; to me there is no "better"... just different. I love using non-stick, stainless and cast-iron inside, just as I love my Blackstone, and using my gas or charcoal grill (I'd also love to have a smoker/pellet grill, and a ceramic griddle) outside. I really love your reviews, your cooks, and all you do for this community. Boy if I had the time I'd love to do some videos too. Every time I cook something, I am usually halfway eating my meal before remembering that I wanted to at least take some pictures, lol! I studied film making in college and have made short films, so you'd think I'd be all over it! My actual degree was a BA in computer and video imaging, with a focus on graphic/website design. I really liked film and sound editing too. Wow rambling... I couldn't sleep, currently on the journey home, staying one night in Idaho. Thanks for making my night. Hope to chat soon. Until then, Griddle On!
That is so awesome man!! You should definitely put that knowledge and skill to use, I bet you’d make incredible content!! For sure this one was a long time coming, and we were nervous to put it out there (exposing ourselves a bit), but we wanted to because we really do love it all. We always appreciate your inisghts and comments brother!! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Great video brother! I've only been able to use my Sierra a few times but I love it as well. When we go camping I generally use either my Camp Chef or my Blackstone just because they are smaller and I'm only cooking for 2 of us. Its a fun process like you said and its fun to cook on these griddles. Looking forward to seeing more feedback as your griddle ages and if there are any changes. Griddle On my brothers!!
Hi there, i have the 36 Blackstone proseries .i am going to upgrade to the 36 inch culinary series. I also just bought the pit boss ulimate griddle. I also have the pitboss kc combo and the pit boss brunswick smoker.
I have the Pit Boss 4 burner ultimate griddle and it has taken me a little while to learn how to cook on it. I'm a lousy cook but can now make a pretty good smash burger. I've had the griddle now for about six months with 15 to 20 cooks on it. I primarily cook bacon and eggs, hash browns, and burgers on it. I find that soap and water alone will not clean all the cooking residue off and I have to clean the griddle with baking soda almost every time to make the surface look like new again. Stuff sticks to the surface a little more than I thought it would but that could be my fault because sometimes it doesn't stick for some reason. Probably because I have the griddle too hot or need to use oil or something. Anyway, I love cooking on it and the clean up isn't really very hard. I've never had a cold rolled steel griddle so can't compare this Pit Boss to one.
Thank you so much for watching and for chiming in! There are things for sure we are still even learning about the griddles, but we appreciate understand more and more. Most of what we learned we did so by em researching nonstick cookware - the same principles seem to apply - but for sure stubborn spots get frustrating! Do you use water ash steam after a cook to pull up the stick items before cleaning?
@@waltwins My cleaning method is to push away the grease or oil with a spatula or paper towel into the grease catch. Then I'll heat griddle surface again and steam off as much as I can with water and soak up as much steam and residue with a paper towel. Then I wash with soap and water and if there's any stubborn stains I sprinkle on a little baking soda and scrub the area with the Pit Boss scrubbing pad. Then wash away all the baking soda and that leaves the surface looking like new.
Awesome review Adam! My friend has the Ultimate and he loves it! Over 130 cooks is impressive that it is holding up so well and even though that area of chipping isn't on the actual cooking surface, I'm surprised that Pit Boss didn't send you a new griddle top? Luckily I don't live where metal rusts easily and surprised the hood started rusting? But I can only imagine that even plastic will rust in FL LOL! If I ever have to get a new griddle, I would definitely consider the ceramic Pit Boss! Griddle on and Cheers..... My Brothers!
Thank you so much brother!! Pit Boss would have gladly sent a new top - we are just really trying to run this specific unit through the ringer (I should have been more clear on that point) - something. We discuss whenever we talk, they ask but I tell them it’s still going strong!😂😂 We for sure love it all, and have loved getting to know this community so well!! Take care Brother Kevin!🔥🔥
New to your channel. Love you guys! 2 basic questions as a to be flattopper. 1) my concern is that ceramic is just not going to sear and behave as a rolled steel. Thoughts? 2) I hear almost nothing about stainless steel top. As a former short order cook I worked on stainless steel comments?
Hey you’re a teacher? We are too (both hubby and I). We just made the shift to Pitboss due to the lower maintenance. Also, the lift off feature means we only need 1 griddle for home and on the go.
Great video. Always looking forward to updates for the Pit Boss since I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. I am rather disappointed that you noticed some rust on the lid. So, can you tell us what the lid is made of? I live in Florida too in the west central area and this is a bit concerning. I have a covered lanai and probably won't put a cover on it based on the probable humidity containment issue. Also the chipping on the cooking surface on the inside-side is also strange. The lid def shouldn't be rusting though. Surprised it isn't made of stainless steel. I hope Pit Boss is taking notes on your video and probably others who might be contacting them about the lid and the small chipping areas. Thanks again for this update! Much appreciated! P.S. Oh, and if Pit Boss IS checking out your videos, I hope they strongly consider making ALL the wheels on their Pit Boss griddles swivel instead of just 2 of them. Sure would make moving them, especially the one with a cabinet much easier. Just a thought.
Thank you fam! The 5 burner has 4 wheels on casters, and you are correct, much easier to move. My particular unit was shipped directly from China, and I did notice the material is different from that of the unit at Brett’s place - his still looks brand new, I think they have coke with a different metal since my first unit here. Hope this helps a little fam!🔥🔥
Great video! I love the comparison, and would love to try a cook on one some day. Adam, you present the information so well and unbiased. In a lot of ways, it comes down to the passion of the cook as well, and you and Brett have about 150% on the passion scale (1 to 10, that's a 15 😉) so if I handed you my little plug in electric guy, you'd both still kill it! Thanks for the Camp Chef mention, and as always... Griddle on!
Yes!!! I’m so sorry I didn’t mention you by name!! We gotta catch up soon, I’d love to explain my “mind” during this vid - so much going on! Our Camp Chef mention was definitely you brother!! We love you and can’t wait to catch up soon!!🔥🔥
Thank you so much fam! I believe that after the baking soda option, some have recommended a vinegar/baking soda combo. Are you in the Pit Boss Griddle Community on Facebook? We’ve seen other recommendations as well, including the Mr. CLEAN eraser and even some pink stuff! Hope you find a solution! You can also always check with Pit Boss customer service, they may be able to help too!🔥🔥
I definitely do not like the dedicated 15-20 minutes of clean-up on my Camp Chef after every cook. I've been recommending the Pit Boss to my friends who would rather not worry about the maintenance of the C.R.S. tops
Such a great point fam! Like we say, there really is something for everyone, and these Pit Boss units definitely appeal to many!! We appreciate you watching and for the input!!🔥🔥
Adam, you did a great job, my bearded brother! Appreciate you a ton for your honesty and I’m impressed with your Pit Boss units and how well they have performed for you guys!! After seeing Neal @theflatopking use metal on his for awhile now I can definitely see how these griddles are tough. Big take away for me is temperature control so I what you said is what I thought and have noticed sometimes y’all don’t get as good a sear as you might want (sometimes) but I’ve probably seen 99% of your YT cooks on Pit Boss and every time the food looks amazing!! 👊🏼👍🏼🍻
Thank you so much brother! For sure it’s been a frustration for me, not getting the crust on my Smashburger like I want, but it really does come down to using the heat at a lower setting - still working on it!😂😂. That said, we just love griddle cooking, and what to keep sharing that love!🔥🔥
Question....Did you guys get away from BlackStone Griddles? Just wondering since I ran into an issue with my BlackStone and it was a pain to get them to admit that it was an ssue they had with the the paint. I live in Utah and almost drove to Logan where BlackStone is based to get them to anwer me.
Oh wow! We hope you got it resolved! We are actually partnered with Pit Boss - but we’re always willingly by to help if we can, regardless of the brand! Take care fam!🔥🔥
Looks like it lasts quite a while. We just got one and love it. Down the road, do they sell a new non stick griddle top only to replace the sierra with?? If so , do u have a link. I’d love to have one in storage for later. Also the viewers might love to hear the. Jon stick surface alone is very heeavy. I thought it might be more light weight so I’m excited it’s heavy duty. Thx😊
Hey fam! Yes! We love it! We’ve been primarily using our steel units, but honestly, we love the ceramic tops as well! Pit Boss does sell a replacement top too! We have a link to the site in the video description. We love the heavy duty nature of the tops as well!! Take care fam, GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
The Blackstone griddles are not made with cold rolled steel toeven did a video on that cuz he used to say the same thing at first till Blackstone Engineers told him it wasn't cold rolled steel just saying love the videos keep up the great work
Hey twins. Is your ceramic cook super hot. I can’t get mine to cook on low heat, it’s low setting super hot. Would love any thoughts. Perhaps they all are? Love mine regardless. I would just love to cook on lower
I have the Pit Boss 5 peace spatula, set with cleaning brush the brush that comes with the ceramic kit looks rough for using on ceramic top I would like your opinion if you don’t mind please and thank you
Thank you for watching fam!! It should be fine, the ceramic is tough! We have used a scrub daddy - but we find that some hot water to creat me steam and the scraper get most of the food and gunk - wipe down then hot soapy water with a sponge works great. We have used the “green” or scrubby side of a sponge too. Hope this helps some!
I have one of the early Blackstone grills with the grease drain in the front I would like to know how t=you guys keep the surface clean like you do? i just received some Kohler cast iron cleaner and was wondering if you might know anything about using this product? Thanks

I love the transparency and insight 💚 I also saw similar quirks between the two types.
Thank you so much fam! For sure - I think every unit is going to have some things that aren’t perfect, but they are all great!!🤙🤙

Hi Adam my name is Ronnie and I did buy a Pitboss four burner Deluxe and I like it very much
Wahoo!! Yes!!!! That is such a great unit!! Thank you so much for watching g and letting us know! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
I am learning a lot by watching you guys. how to cook on the PitBoss griddle

Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Y’all are awesome and I have both of your cook books I just haven’t had a chance to use them but hopefully soon thank you
Oh wow, no way!! Thank you so much for the love and support fam!! Let us know if you have any questions!
Thank you so much brother! We for sure love it all! There is a learning curve to both surfaces, but once you get it down, it’s incredible!🔥🔥
Great video Adam. Very informative!!
Yay! Thank you so much Trip!!💙💙🤙🤙
Hi there, i have the 36 Blackstone proseries .i am going to upgrade to the 36 inch culinary series. I also just bought the pit boss ulimate griddle. I also have the pitboss kc combo and the pit boss brunswick smoker.
Well you have An amazing outdoor kitchen! We would love to see pics of your setup! Thank you so much for watching Dave! Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙
I have the Pit Boss 4 burner ultimate griddle and it has taken me a little while to learn how to cook on it.
Great video. Love my Pit Boss Sierra. Thanks
Thank you so much fam! It really is an incredible unit!🔥🔥
Top griddle show on TH-cam
Haha! Thank you so much fam! We can’t tell you how much that means to us! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Great video.
RV...how do you do a tri-tip on a flat top? Diggin the show guys thanks!!
Thank you so much fam!! We still haven’t given Tri-tip a go, if we do we’ll for sure let you know!!🔥🔥
Great video!
@@waltwins Yes, please! I have a cook I want to talk about as well!
Your flat top looks brand new. I have a few burn spots on mine that i havent been able to remove with baking soda. Otherwise, i love using it it
Thank you so much fam!
Great information. Thank you and keep the videos coming. Griddle on brother!!
Thank you so much for watching fam!!🔥🔥
Thx twin for all the videos. I would love to add that bar stool to my back yard where can I get one? it would match perfect with my 5 burner.
Thank you so much fam!! We picked these up at Lowe’s - they are with the tools sections!🤙🤙
Take care fam, GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
The Blackstone griddles are not made with cold rolled steel toeven did a video on that cuz he used to say the same thing at first till Blackstone Engineers told him it wasn't cold rolled steel just saying love the videos keep up the great work
Another off the question. Not in the owner’s manual. What are the knob settings from 9:00 to 12:00 used for?
Hey twins. Is your ceramic cook super hot. I can’t get mine to cook on low heat, it’s low setting super hot. Would love any thoughts. Perhaps they all are? Love mine regardless. I would just love to cook on lower
Wich would u buy - Weber SLate 76cm 30" or a Pit Boss 4 or 5 Burner Griddle ?
Are you using metal or nonmetal utensils on the Pitt Boss?
I have the Pit Boss 5 peace spatula, set with cleaning brush the brush that comes with the ceramic kit looks rough for using on ceramic top I would like your opinion if you don’t mind please and thank you
Thank you for watching fam!! It should be fine, the ceramic is tough! We have used a scrub daddy - but we find that some hot water to creat me steam and the scraper get most of the food and gunk - wipe down then hot soapy water with a sponge works great. We have used the “green” or scrubby side of a sponge too. Hope this helps some!
Thank you
I have one of the early Blackstone grills with the grease drain in the front I would like to know how t=you guys keep the surface clean like you do? i just received some Kohler cast iron cleaner and was wondering if you might know anything about using this product? Thanks
Have you guys checked out any electric griddles?
WALTWINS - is there any different flavor on Smash Burgers on a Black Stone versus Pit Boss
I thought there is a 2 year warranty on PB?
Thank you so much for watching! This specific unit has a 3 year warranty.
@@waltwins I read ceramic is not safe or no?
That man Adam was hittin those mf'in Notes in the intro!!!
lol at the jingle...
Pit Boss?
What happened to your Blackstone?
Thank you so much for watching! We have been working with Pit Boss for the last year, but still sharing the same recipes and cooks. Take care fam!🤙🤙
👏👏👏👏👍😎🇬🇧
Thank you so much fam!!🔥🔥
why does it look like you have a body in the pool lol
Haha!!!! 🤣🤣. Gotta love the automatic pool vacuum!!!!💙💙😂😂🔥🔥
