    Great video you really know your stuff. Looking at buying a used AVEnsis but won't start, ecu might be fried as guy put negative on positive trying to jumpstart engine, handbrake module gone too. If I'm buying parts is the 2011 and 2012+ the same parts inside except for visual face lift stuff? It's a 2012 UK import but might be 2011 model

      Yeh I’d say a good few parts should be shared with the 2011 and 2012

      Faulty jump starting will kill the main fuse 30A not ECU as it is protected with another fuse 7.5A

      Excellent fuel economy. Yes I would, Avensis is very well priced and where I live lots of young people drive them.

    Sounds like a tractor, The automatic 1.8i petrol is a must, with auto gearbox.The paddle shift is quite nippy and fun to drive. I would never have a diesel anything.

      Peter Young Peter Young Toyotas are quite loud injector wise compared to other cars however their Diesel engines are very torquey I had a 2.0 d4d 90bhp 215nm Corolla and it was as quick as my mates 1.6 hdi 110bhp 240nm 308 . I now have an Auris 2.0 d4d 126bhp 300nm non Dpf model and it was very torquey standard now it’s pushing 150bhp 350nm

      The Diesels actually sound quieter than the petrol engines when they are over about 20mph and especially on the motorway, very low rev,s at 80mph 2800rpm and 60mpg. They are also good for very high mileage, no spark Plugs or coil packs to go wrong. They also will never cough and splutter when driving through flooded roads.
      Mine has 158,000 miles on the clock and still pulls like a train.

      @@stevejones8665This is true but...for a driving profile with short trips is the worst decision to buy diesel. I took once B8 Passat station wagon and never again. As I am into mechanics every time I needed car for short trips especially in Winter I had to drove at least 20 min. to get oil temperature high enough to shut it off. It was a disaster for me as I knew to keep this engine going after each start I needed at least 70°C oil temp. Basically I was burning money. Petrol is easier to maintain and it gets warm on minus temps pretty quick. I change oil regardless diesel or petrol every 10k kilometers.But even if I shorten oil changes with diesel my driving profile won't save diesel engine from carbon build up.

    D4d crap...petrol 1.8 immortal!

    • @ShanesAutos
      @ShanesAutos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nothing wrong with the diesel, driven plenty of them. Never drove the 1.8 though.

      @@ShanesAutos yeah, toyota made upgrade with d4d...its better now, but petrol 1.8 is immortal for a moment...no dpf filter etc etc

    • @411nightnheaven
      @411nightnheaven ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bestpeter78you can take out the dpf filter and reprogram the ecu so it doesnt drop any fault codes.

      Every diesel is crap for daily short trips as it would kill engine. But this engine is a long runner probably better then German.
