- A common issue with BJJ practitioners is tightness and its effect on their submission ability at first glance.
With that being said, today a viewer named Wes writes in and says:
"Hey Chewy, my hips are very inflexible. Do you have any suggestions on how to perform Triangle Chokes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with this problem?
This can be a very simple problem to fix if approached properly.
I'll give you guys a few stretches to help improve your flexibility and some smaller details to help you finish your Triangle Choke.
Hopefully you found the ideas in this video useful.

Hi Chewy! Just wanted to let you know, in February of 2021 I commented on one of your videos, saying I started BJJ, and that guys like you helped inspire me to do it. Just wanted to let you know I just got my blue belt. Thanks for your contributions to my journey 😊
Congratulations!! 🎉
Enjoy retirement bud, you deserve it
Im a 48 year old blue belt who is jumping back in after not training for about 7 years. I've been very sedentary and it's taken a toll on my health. I've been working hard on my diet, core and flexibility. Your tips are great. Awesome video! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Chewy!
Definitely something I need to work on. I’m a bigger guy at 6’2” 275-280 age 47.
I’ve been training two years and have not finished a triangle yet.
So could have used this 3 weeks ago. I suffer from piriformis syndrome. After a busy week rolling I threw my back out. Went to the Dr and x-rays were fine but his stretches I was already doing. Can't wait to try these!
Thank you for this one. Definitely finding the need for flexibility, I sit far too much at work.
At class I can’t roll every round. I’m 39. I usually roll 2 and rest 1. When I am in my rest round I actually do my hip stretches. My left hip is toast from powerlifting so I am able to stretch it before class, during class, and another minute or two after class. 2-4x per week does wonders for me. I’m already busy getting my daughters to bed and as setting aside time in the evening is not possible.
definitely going to be doing this
You can do a pigeon-ish stretch at your desk Set your ankle onto your lower quad. Bend at the waist (don’t round your back). Repeat for other leg. I do this a lot and best part is, HR won’t get in your business for this, as long as you get your TPS reports done.
thanks master
Hey can you post an updated gear bag video? Your last one was 2 years ago
I can't triangle for sh*t lol.
Where is Adam? I have not seen him in a while.
