    This is probably one of the safest transitions to triangle for street fights. I've been looking for something like this for so long. Thanks.

    New white belt here, THANK YOU, the clearest break downs of what to practice to progress. THANK YOU. In 7 minutes I feel like I have learned more than in most of the grappling I have watched. New fan for sure.

    Great video, this was built into my game, however seeing it done from step to step is awesome, especially when the guy holds the leg (which happens all the time). Thanks for sharing!

    After watching a lot of your videos, I can conclude that you are my hero.
    I'm learning at an academy that teaches old school Gracie Jiu Jitsu. The techniques taught in our basics class assume the opponent does not know any Jiu Jitsu and just want to punch your head in. But there is no bunches in open mat, so those basics techniques are useless.
    Your version of arm bar from mount is far less awkward than trying to step through directly with a posted leg. I can pause in s mount and work on breaking the grip first. And it's much easier to swing the leg once your are already perpendicular to the opponent.
    I wish I can visit you at Tristar one day.

    Thank you for everything that you are doing. Your teaching is very accessible and very clear.
    One nit...the vowel combination "Ai" as in "Aikido" is always pronounced "Eye" rather than "Ah" so that the art is pronounced "Eye Key Dough".
    Thanks again for all your efforts. I, and many others, appreciate it very much.

    Hello Coach Zahabi, first of all: I love your videos. Your insights are profound and the way you can analyze technique and explain it is just overwhelmingly good.
    However, here is the question: You are throwing your leg across his neck, and like you said, it does not prevent posture. I remember Ryan Hall saying on his triangle DVD that you should keep your leg on the hips, so you can maintain your attack angle. What do you think is better?
    Thanks for all the advice! If you ever come to germany for a seminar I will surely be there.

    It's tough bc I'm a white belt but I got a year of wrestling so I'm picking up sooo much trying to play top all the time then I'm worried I'm going to be bad at the bottom and won't have solid escapes a lot to worry about I want a solid triangle

  • @huskylord123

    Firas, what if the opponent grab you shin instead of the thigh? I was in this situation many times, and it's a big problem, especially if the opponent is stronger than me.

  • @onixz100
    @onixz100 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Firas, are you able to make the follow up to this video (actually going into the triangle) as you promised? :) I actually achieved clamp guard on a much more experience grappler recently, and I was shocked at how effective it was. However, I wasn't sure how to transition properly into the triangle... I am dying to know what I should do after I get clamp guard!

    • @jaimemadsen3559
      @jaimemadsen3559 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! That's awesome! Not Firas, but after crossing your legs from clamp guard you could move your arm that's in the collar tie to grab the shin for a temporary triangle hold while you get your other leg in position to clamp for a triangle :) From there you don't need to hold the shin with your hand anymore and you could hold down on the head for extra pressure!
