I'm a big fan of mechanical traction (lockers) but you'll be surprised by the ATRAC system. It really works well.. I have an 80 and a 100 and I have to say the 100 is more capable than a lot give it credit for. Hope you make more videos with it!
Good that you got the 2000. The 98 and 99 got 2 pinion front diff and they break. 2000+ models got 4 pinion front diff and they hold well. The ATRAC system introduced in 2000+ models is very close to the locker system that is why I think Toyota took the rear mechanical locker off from 2000+ models. Make sure to replace the cabin heater "T-joints" located near the firewall. These are made of plastic and becomes brittle after that many miles. Check out ih8mud.com.
We had to put down our 100 series last year. It was a 2003 base model one (US Spec) that 2UZ-FE (4.7L V8) was a ferocious engine. Ours lasted 306K miles (in a rust belt state) where it required 4K in repairs to be safe to drive (C02 leak in cabin due to rusty exhaust manifold, new suspension, replace rusted brake lines, strangely ABS system was going crazy! ) We decided it lived it life and sold it to charity. Amazingly at auction, this car sold for $10K to supposidly another Toyota Enthusiast! Currently saving up for a 80 series and, just wanted to say welcome to the Land Cruiser Community!
TruAgape1234 it was a 2003 and, we never washed it in the winter to get the salt off. That's why 99% of the parts were failing is due to corrosion. Yeah Toyotas parts are very durable and top quality however, all cars break and since Toyotas parts are typically more durable than their American equivalents, the replacement parts are more durable.
Great to hear another success story from one of these. Salt is the worst and I hate living in a state that uses it in winter. Just ruins cars. This one fortunately isn't too bad.
As an avid viewer of your content, I went back to watch the original land cruiser videos. I just want to convey that you've come a very long way in presenting skills and general cinematography. Keep up the work and improving, and know that my opinion on buying a land cruiser in the near future has been swayed by your ownership experience.
Good deal. Please do take care of the rust. Go OME suspension. Great overall for overlanding and not super aggressive. Please post more content with it. Gonna subscribe & keep an eye on your stuff.
i own a late 2005 uzj100r (Being in Australia) we have a saying here," LAND-CRUISER BECAUSE EVERYTHING ELSE JUST SUCKS!" I AM IN LOVE WITH MINE LITTLE TOO MUCH. IF MY WIFE MADE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN HER AND THE CAR I WOULD REALLY MISS HER COOKING. the only advise i can give is keep servicing it. oh and love it a little.
nice suv I want to get one!! I like land cruiser... I heard they are very reliable...and being a v8 it's going to last a long time with the proper maintenance
I am about to buy a 99 land cruiser. 180k miles. Is there anything i should be aware of. The one thing I know the abs units are really expensive to replace
@@brandonsmisek dont know if the 2000 has it but it's a system that when in 4Lo if you're wheels are spinning it automatically applies the brakes to the wheel that's spinning and shifts the power to the wheel with grip. Kind of like automatic lockers.
That's a handsome wagon with the best reputation. They fetch big money here in New Zealand, especially the diesels. You'd be surprised how many sheep you can cram into one.
If you go landcruiser. you know more about offroading than half of the car community
mohammad ali so true
Yip hes on the right path getting the cruiser
%100 👏 True

Did the 2nd owner buy it from the 1st owner?
Nice vehicle, you got the best!
Lol, I just bought a 1990 JDM HDJ81 and no nothing about off roading either. 😂 only been 4 wheeling a few times which probably doesn’t count.

There is a sticker that covers the white area below the doors lines with the same color. This way you would have a two tone color consistency.
those cars are monsters they just keep going , great choice .

Less than 5 grand series 100 is a steal, this model is selling at +1m pesos (+20k bucks!!) in the Philippines.
We are from Saudi Arabia love this car
Some people write poems about this car

Where’d you find it for under $5k? Why’d you get rid of it?
This vehicle has ATRAC which is sort of like diff lockers. Still a very capable vehicle off road
I just bought a 2000 lx 470. what is Atrac please and do I have it?

Matthias J. Ort Carfax
good choice. it's a great 🚙I think it's best 4*4. Toyota 4 life
How much u got it for ?
Lately I've been exploring in my Tacoma and not driving my cars as often. Looking forward to this build.
I had a 100 series for 14 years great car
I have a Ford v6 with 260000 miles 3.8 so you still have 200000 miles left
2000 Toyota Land Cruiser four 8500 as 150,000 mile is that a good deal
If it has no rust it's a decent deal. That's the biggest thing with these, finding one that hasn't lived in salt its whole life.
You are completely right! The rust factor is so crucial to consider.

Нихера не понятно, но очень интересно)))
That explains your choice
