This scene shows how much Carter had grown and changed over the course of the series. He was once the bright-eyed gullible intern and is now the dark humored realist attending. He has become a combination of Greene, Benton, Ross, Romano, and Morgenstern. It is interesting to see how people influence you during your life.
@@karimah8687 Romano still did have other qualities. He was very talented for one thing, had a sense of humor, and he wasn't as heartles as people thought which was obvious with Lucy's death. He was a very flawed person, but not a bad one.
His voice has gotten a little lower over the years, great to see his character evolve after 15 seasons in the greatest show ever. Calling his stabbing an incident, mentioning Lucy, sad times. Great drama.
That’s true and I’ve been wondering if it was on purpose or not. I like to think it was. In season 6 he was of course trying to hide from Abby, while now he doesn’t make any attempt at hiding from Banfield that he has a problem.
Carter displaying some unnecessary dark humor, and became a DIFFERENT person after Lucy died. Carter needed psychological therapy on surviving and Lucy's death MORE than Anspaugh and Benton saving his kidney.
Oh I agree. Carter became a person I didn’t like after his stabbing. It wasn’t until the Congo he grew up a lot and then once he lost his son, John Carter was no longer the same person he once was.
He certainly endured an inordinately painful life that seemed to begin when his cousin overdosed and then three was a domino effect which included nearly losing his life three times. It appeared that the writers liked to torture that poor guy. And then there were all the tragic losses.
I thought there was an interesting dynamic between these two that, due to it being the last season, unfortunately never got to be explored to its full potential. Namely, that Banfield may be the ER Chief, but Carter's the ER Old Guard.
I forgot all about this. Savage burn there. Delivery on par with Kyle Reese/Biehn telling Sarah Connor/Linda he travelled back in time so she could be his main dolphin waxer. Just epic.
I’ve come across people who have absolutely no sense of humor. Frankly I don’t know how they survive without one. I’d be dead now if I couldn’t laugh at myself and the absurdities that life tosses at me.
I just sad for carter like why why he can't end up togeather with any one why he is the only one unhappy , i happy that he return where he belong , but er was not the same everyone left busy in their life's 🙄. Then carter meet richeals i am happy that dr. Richeal with him he thaught many thing to him ❤ But honestly in er carter was most suffering person like everyone suffer but the end up happily somhow but carter... The carter we see in 1st episode in last episode he was the totally different person of cource passion , humbel to patients ,devoting his life for his patients but i miss carter who enjoy ,who laugh us but after stabbing his character differently change he suddenly like mature be himslef ... I wish he got a good ending i like him and luca soo much they both are my crush .
It makes sense that Carter changed over the years because of all the things good and bad he went through.Plus i wonder as the series ended and he was treating patients if Carter realized he belonged at County and it was a full circle kind of thing since he started there and maybe him been Rachel's mentor would be kind of fitting.
Isn’t this the second time that CARTER has needed a transplant? Wasn’t he in town in need of one back when he christened the CARTER CENTER a few years back? (Just wondering.)
@@soleiltounsi6754 indeed, but he said now that he lost function on this kidney, not that he lost his kidney. I think that we are supposed to guess that it stopped functioning after the surgery in season 6, in spite of Benton’s and Anspaugh’s best efforts.
The only 2 thing I can’t do is donate blood or organs it’s because I am on mental illness meds since I was 16 my doctor tells me no and I am type 2 diabetic + other meds a well
I think the only people still working at County General from when Lucy and Carter were stabbed by the time Carter retuned in the 15th season were the nurses/aides/receptionists and maybe Lucy and Carter been stabbed and Lucy dying wasn't the kind of story they wanted to tell people that weren't there when it happened.
@@aph1976 "nurses/aides/receptionists" The biggest gossips in medicine. Pretty much everyone wants to tell a story like that. Every time some noob wanted to let their psych consult be unrestrained and unattended they would hear that story.

Heartbreaking if you think of why he changed 😭
You can cut Romano out he shoo’s people away only Elizabeth came close to anything resembling caring about him.

Glad to see some fellow ER and Carter fans!!!
He did get the kidney in the end thanks to Doug Ross and Carol Hathaway 😁😁😁
And Peter Benton was in the OR during the transplant.
SPOILERS! as Dr Corday-Song would say.
That sink is where he was injecting painkillers and Abby walked in on him, years earlier.

i think the real turning point in his life was loosing his child at birth. he was neveer the same after that

"A weekend at Nairobi hospital cured me of that,"Lol !!!
what does he mean when he says that?
He thought it would just go away magically but after a week in a Nairobi hospital showed that it wasn't going to, hence 'curing' him of that notion.
LOL Carter, it was awesome to see him again!

OMG that was intense!
Just remembering Lucy...RIP
It hurts how he relays the incident as "a med student was killed" ...
I was like ' wait what? Is he serious- ' until he said he was joking🤣
Lol carter is so funny even though he has a serious condition that he could die from....aww from day one I have been a big fan of carter
No matter what your situation in life is you need to be able to make fun of it otherwise you'll end up totally depressed and unhappy.
If things ever got that bad for Carter his grandmother would buy a kidney from china and he knows it.

He's amazing!!! He looked so serious even I thought it wouldn't be a joke!! :D *Carter forever*
Thanks for this vieo! (o^__^o)
I love Carter.
The thing is that they specifically showed Benton and Anspaugh saving his kidney after Carter was stabbed.
Great actors.
LMAO Cater can be a ass but that was funny as hell

Benton and Anspaugh actualy saved his left kidney when he got stabbed, so there's an inconsistency here.
He said the kidney lost function, not that he lost the kidney. He easily could have lost function in that kidney over the 9 year period.
I know right?!?!?! That damaged but working kidney caused him the pain that led to Carter becoming a drug addict
@@WarGrowlmon18 Plus i'm wondering if his drug abuse caused damage to Carter's kidneys
The wrong thing is that in the season 6 when he was stabbed, his kidney was saved by Benton and Ansp.

He explained right here how he lost function one, then the other, over time.
I watched the whole show coz of Noah 😁
Que temporada es?

Weird. Why a shunt in the arm? I understand leg and Neck/chest but a fistula makes more sense in the arm. Or peritoneal in the stomach.

This is BS, like anyone working in that hospital wouldn't have heard the story about the time an intern was murdered.

It's a fistula. Not a shunt.
Shawn McLaughlin my daughter has a shunt in her head
Yes I have a fistula as well.
I also had a cannula around my neck/chest. At least that's how they call it in Hungary.
😂😂
Like Kate a lot
Didn't they save the kidney that got stabbed though??? That's why he was in so much pain he turned to drugs
Little retroactive continuity backed with some medical fact. When it comes to traumatic injuries, you're not always going to get full function back.
