I loved the character of John Carter so much. He was the heart and soul of that show and a good man through and through, no matter what his personal struggles. An idealist who got knocked down many times but never gave up. A deeply feeling person whose warmth melted the frostiest of temperaments (e.g. Weaver, Benton). They gave him enough flaws that he wasn't a Mary Sue, but his authenticity was inspiring. It was so wonderful to watch him grow.
alien baby I wonder if he is/was an infj/a!?! (Myers-Briggs 16 personality type... for any wondering what “infj” is referring to) He is very empathetic to the feelings of others; easily absorbs them, trying to make the person he’s engaged with feel better...which, in and of itself, can leave him emotionally depleted quite often. Too bad he was whisked away from his wife; once again, filling a need for others when HE needed/wanted to be with her. COMMITMENTS and OBLIGATIONS, absolutely. Good of her to come! ❤️✨ 😀✅ Stay safe & Be well! 🤩
As the bright Amy Poehler once said: You come for Clooney but you stay for Noah Wyle. Perfect actor for this brilliant character, John Carter holds a place in my heart since the late 90s
John Carter, if only the world was filled with millions of people like you. You are a wonderment, a paragon of humanity among humans, a ray of hope in a dark world. Your words inspire those of us who look for guidance, who desire most of all to join the ripple that will save the world like a wave. Everything, every thing, is possible if you believe and you hold on to a dream.
I cried so much during that final episode. I was losing my Thursday night best friends. They crammed a lot into 84 minutes. The final scene with John Carter, who would sometimes leave, but always came back, was special. Mark Greene told the ER staff in his letter that he wouldn’t have wanted to work anyplace else. And there was Rachel, applying to County General for her medical student placement. “Dr. Greene, are you coming?” We knew another Greene was going to be in that ER. Never has been another show like it.
So many of our stars were guests on this series. So many ER actors became stars from this show. ER was truly an exceptional and thought provoking show.
I love how they did this whole season, by bring the entire cast back in at least one episode, either as a where they now, or a flashback for deceased characters.
The same issue that started when Joshua died still was destroying them. Despite all John did to please Kem, move back to Africa start over do whatever they didn’t do before and still wasn’t good enough. Kem still wasn’t satisfied. She let the loss destroy her marriage to John.
I couldn't agree more. It was as if Kem blamed John for Joshua's loss and no matter what he did she was never going to forgive him, but he lost Joshua too.
I don't think either of them ever stopped loving each other, its just that the pain of being together brings back such painful memories and although I think Carter is willing to push through the pain Kem is just not able to... It's so sad cause they clearly love each other so much
I'm currently watching season 9, and Carter is with Abby. I am disappointed that for the beautiful character Carter is (I agree with you all) they couldn't give him a happier love life 😒 he really deserved that. Not fair is it.
Carter had the farthest Journey of any of the characters on ER. Noah Wylie played him better then any other actor could have. Class, Grace and a connection to people.
ER the best ever tv series you couldn't recreate this again-favourite characters were Benton and Carter loved the camaradarie and beautiful sense of humours, THANKS.
Abby and Carter were good strictly as friends. Nothing more. Trying to fix someone their entire relationship Is not love. Abby and Luka belonged together from the start and they Flourished even more when Carter was gone so they could make a family together and love each other so deeply and have their son. I do believe Carter deserved better in his life. I could tell him in season 12 when it was revealed he married Kem but I could tell they weren’t on good terms yet again. Kem was always out of reach from carter after Joshua died. Part of me wanted Abby and Luka to be there with their son but it was better they left on their own to live their own lives because Carter was no longer apart of their lives.
@@sadieyoung7397 I dont agree. Maybe Carter tried to fix Abby but he was right to say those things and Abby needed those wake up calls and she really changed. Carter was always there for Abby, They understood each other. . Also the writers in s11 clearly was working toward a reconcilliation, but Noah wanted out and they changed their mind and Luka and Abby ended up together. I always felt that Luka doesnt understand Abby and he isnt really there. Also Abby doesnt really understand Luka either. It felt like a mismatch. For me Luka felt right with Sam , he was most himself with her. and the writers only broke them up for Abby&Luka.
@@ejenny21 Sam and Luka didn’t work. They cared about each other but Luka was so desperate for another family he lowered his standards and he wasn’t happy with Sam. He wouldn’t talk to or open up and he wanted one thing Sam refused to give be open about, children. Abby and Luka worked well because Abby was the chaos and kooky and Luka leveled her out. Abby was with Luka first and they would of stayed together first time if Carter was nosing into it. Carter and Abby were not going for a reconciliation in season 11, Carter was fully hung up on Kem by season 10 and on. Abby went back to Luka and never looked back with carter. Two addicts don’t belong together and that is what Carter and Abby were. Even Abby told Luka the carby thing was doomed from the beginning and was a waste of time. Luka and Abby shared something she didn’t jsce with carter, a forever love and chemistry snd both weren’t looking to fix each other they accepted each other flaws and all.
I HATE that the Carter/Kem storyline wasn’t finished! Why did Kem come at all? She doesn’t even want to hang out with Carter... It would have being way more satisfyng with a definitive break up, and theme go forward with their lives...
Go back to season 12, when he comes back for the darfur, he’s got a wedding band on and it was revealed his wife is in Paris didn’t know how long she’d be gone . So I’d say sometime after he left in season 11 but it wasn’t shown on screen. He wanted Luka to help him in Africa again but Luka sent Pratt instead because he had more important things going on, That’s when Pratt dropped the bomb on John that Luka and Abby got back together again and were getting ready to have their son. John was beyond stunned. Lol
It was a pity they couldn't bring back Michael Gross and/or Mary McDonnell for this scene. Or even Chase, in his wheelchair. Seems odd that no one from the Carter family is even present, while most of his County family is.
I totally agree. It’s a pity that his family and wife’s appearances were probably often dictated by the availability of the actors playing them, especially in this last season. I feel like the writing was such that the possibility of Thandie Newton not being available at the last minute was taken into account, so that Kem being there or not doesn’t modify much the storyline, which feels rather unsatisfying.
@@bemyguest80 Hey again! I can't believe how fast I've burned through the series during quarantine. I'm having ER dreams. Yeah, it was definitely left hanging. I guess I would have liked an "I'm proud of you, son" moment with Michael. Carter had a lovely moment of resolution with his mom earlier in the series, but finally having his dad behind his decision would have satisfying.

AlyssaGubler83 because it wouldn't replace joshua and probably fear of losing it as well. maybe another child would remind them of their son Josh and that would be too painful.
I disagree that the death of a child ends a couple due to grief. I know two couples whose children died, one at birth and the other was of school age and drowned in a swimming pool. The parents do need support and go over the reasons and circumstamces but they can overcome their grief because they started their relationship long before their offspring arrived. Probaby the couple was in shaky ground already. Now it is different and usually fatal to the relationship if one of them caused the death through some kind of negligence.
John was open to trying again for another baby but it was painfully obvious Kem was too traumatized by the trauma of Joshua to even try. She let Joshuas death ruin them.

Absolutely. In my opinion he is the best actor in the ensemble, and rather sexy too.
Clooney only knows how to play Clooney.

He's a great actor. Got me in tears with his emotional speech.

I wish Deb was there too. She was like his sister, and they've been there for each other more times than many.
