I wish more people would go the one backup route. Too many folks like to brag about how they have 4 cases of Weller and 2 cases of Eagle Rare (it’s always the Buffalo Trace stuff). If folks purchased a normal amount there would be no shortage and no need to hoard. Good on you Kurt.
I just had it for the first time a few weeks ago. Went and got a bottle the next time I was out. Really nice, especially for the price. Mines got massive bubble gum notes.
I am with you Trenton. I live in North Central Florida and the weather sucks from, June - November, 90+ degrees every day with very high humidity. Great video, have a great day !!!!!!!
I agree the knob creek sb for $44.99 at Walmart and the russels sb for $64.99 are great for the price here in New mexico. Great video can't wait for tonight ty.
I just started my bourbon journey, living in Canada there isn't a huge selection in smaller cities and of course the dollar difference being almost 40 cents, it ain't cheap. I just spotted 4 lonely bottles of Four Roses Single Barrel on the shelf for $58 CDN...that's about $42 USD right now...couldn't pass it up! First pour was a little hotter than what I started with (Old Forester 86 and Buffalo Trace) but I did enjoy the flavours, so onward I go . Love the channel guys! Cheers!
That jack Daniel's right there is absolutely amazing. Jack Daniel's has definitely stepped up there game . The JD single barrel select is also a dam good choice. These bottles are nothing at all like the old JD black label we are used too .. a must try in my book
I love the JD rye mash bill. I like the bonded, LOVE the single barrel store pick from my local store and, I will be buying the single barrel barrel proof tomorrow.
Nice bottles! I picked up an Evan Williams SB that’s 9yrs old for 34.00 and it’s great! I really enjoy Baker’s 7 & 1792 SB! I have a Nashville Barrel Co SB that’s been great:) The Russell’s SB (best IMO) around me is 65.00 and I just bought a store pick for 75.00 that’s so close to the Rickhouse I’ve got to get another one! Cheers!
I saw the EW Single Barrel in Chicagoland for $36 recently. I was surprised to say the least and thought that they were bootlegged into the state. Good to know they have released it back to a larger market. I do like it and will continue to like it at $36. I'll leave it on the shelf for the New Riff though! Agree on the 4R......would love to see more variety! Cheers, great lineup!
In Texas and Oklahoma it’s $36 too. I have only seen it for $50+ in Kentucky at distillery and Total Wine but I haven’t been back to Kentucky since they opened it back up to other states.
Trenton should spend a summer in Georgia , the last week has been 100° plus with 98%humidity. By the way I got the flask you sent today and it's really nice , especially like the heavy top . Thank you!
My favorite weather is spring or fall with temps in the 70's and low humidity. But give me the heat over the cold any day of the week. Great lineup of bottles and I personally love the Russell's, Four Roses, Knob Creek and New Riff single barrels. Have not tried any Augusta yet but am planning a roadie to the distillery some time this summer.
Okay I am a female drinker of bourbon in a sea of female friends who are Chardonnay please. In California it is almost de riguerre. My favorites are: Blade and Bow.....super smooth Saint Alley Armagnac oh my goodness so many flavors and incredibly smooth. Bib and Tucker Double Char smoky and smooth. Brought a flask to the last get together of the Bib and the ladies who tried it drained the whole thing. Oh my....I told them its a sipping bourbon not to be used in a Manhatten. And I posted a review on Total wine which I have never done. Enjoyed your analysis. Will try one of those soon.
Great lists. I would have included Henry McKenna, but I’ve experienced a lot of variation in consistency with those bottles/barrels. The good ones are great, and the bad ones are (wait for it….) bad.
I have five of those - Four Roses, JD rye, Bowman,Russels,Knob Creek plus the JD single barrel you mentioned. I was never a JD fan because I don’t like Old No7 until I tried the rye. My two favorites of the ones I have tried are the JD rye and the Knob Creek single barrel. Also a big fan of the KC Single Barrel rye but have only had store pick.
Even though folks seem to love to hate on the Jack Danial's #7 it holds a special place for me. With that said all the love the other offerings Jack is getting, I really need to get on the ball and try some.
At the James beam distillery I got to bottle my own two bottles of knob creek 9 single barrel reserve. They let us put our finger prints in the wax. Cant wait to open one of them now.
Interesting list! Definitely agree with the New Riff, KCSB, and Russell’s. Wish I could find Old 55 here in the Carolinas. The JDSB Rye is a solid choice much to my surprise when I bought it. Looking forward to tonight’s Live!! 😊
I just picked up an old route 8 single barrel store pick 2 weeks ago and it’s unbelievable! I also have a store pick of jd sb bp, but the old route 8 is SO much better
Gave last 1/3 bottle of Blantons, that I bought for $59 almost two years ago, to my buddy for his birthday. I know people trash Blantons but we had a pour and loved it.
@dmkelly5491 If it's between an open bottle and paying secondary prices, I wouldn't ask anyone to pay secondary, and I certainly wouldn't do it myself.
Great list! My favorite single barrels that are readily available and not too expensive are Russell’s Reserve, New Riff, John J Bowman, and the top one is Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve 9-year. Well, the John J Bowman isn’t too easy to find. One of my favorite local liquor stores had the Russell’s Reserve for $48… I bought 3 bottles. 😬
I've had a sample of John J Bowman but I haven't ever seen a bottle in the wild and I'm only an hour from Virginia. Love the Knob Creek. I would include Baker's 7 on my list. Hah! Now I'll have to get my RR Single barrel out tonight for the livestream.
Trenton, you gotta get some Balla powder. Makes a world of difference in the hot humid weather at keeping the undies dry. Also, I would LOVE to see a New Riff review video. My brother is a big fan of NR, but I haven't tried any of it yet.
That Evan Williams SiB was $60 plus tax 2 years ago then Kentucky only now not back in my state but 90 minutes away always on shelf and $32. Heck yeah. One on bar and a back up on shelf is a standard now. John J Bowman now available in my region but used to live in VA and when I would go back I would always buy several to a case (last time store had hundreds). Now allocated so hard to get as an out of stater with limited time. Fortunately friends just pick up a bottle at a time and when I need any just pick up 3-5 from them. Love Knob Creek SiB.
Love you guys and look forward to every video y'all do!! Thank you so much. keep it up guys. It'd be awesome if you could do another bracket contest for the 4th of July.
I'm here in RVA ( Richmond,VA) the Benchmark single barrel is literally impossible to get. And they run kit of the regular strait sauce consistently. But I just agree. All the Benchmark products seem to have Atleast a "pleasing " taste and smell
Love the content, first time commenter. Just wanted to let you and others know (maybe people already know...I didn't), there are several levels of "Subscribe(d)" setting Under the bell item). My setting was "Personalized" (uses an algorithm to show me *select* videos of SLB drinks) and an "All" setting (notifies me of *all* videos). I assumed when I clicked Subscribe I would get notifications of all, instead TH-cam set me to "Personalized"). I changed that to All as I want to be notified of all of your videos (not just some) and I want you to get potentially more views and credit for those views. Take care, keep up the good work!
I've grabbed the single barrel JD rye and KC rye select and they must be the same or nearly the same mashbill but the JD yeast notes that give you that banana just edge it out, even so I'll keep them both on the shelf as long as I can find them.
A few months ago I didn’t see it often but every now and then John J Bowman would just be sitting on the shelf at an abc store and I’d buy several. Now it’s only available at the 1 bottle per person limited availability drops in Virginia 😢
I second benchmark SB. I typically dont care much for buffalo trace products. Ive tried most of them except for the really rare stuff. It just doesnt hit my pallet well. The only buffalo trace products ive had that i enjoyed are wheller antique, traveller, and benchmark single barrel. For the price, its a really solid pour, easy to find and is a great mixer if it doesnt suit your pallet.
Just grabbed a Evan Williams single barrel for 32.99 in AK and our prices are usually worse than average. I think Trenton has some bad info. It is so good. Smooth as silk and the bitterness I find in some of their other products is replaced with a bright fruit flavor. It would be exceptional with another 10 proof on it.
Just had an interesting find in Augusta Maine. Old Forester single barrel 100proof. With a label of Grandpa Hal. It gives me store pick vibes but it didn’t say that. At 49.99 I scooped it right up
I believe the Bourbon Junkies on a pick asked about the differences between the mass market and the special release Jack Daniel's SBBP rye and apparently, there is no difference in terms of recipes, rickhouse, or anything like that. The special releases were just particularly good barrels and a little older when they were released. The official Jack Daniel's line is that the everyday SBBP ryes on the shelf right now could have been special releases if they were a little older at the time. So don't overpay for the special release unless you absolutely must have it for your collection.
Get in contact with Old 55 as soon as you can if you want to do a pick with them. We visited a few weeks ago and they said the barrels they set aside for picks are sold out through 2028 or something like that.
For whatever reason, I've had two different Russell's SB and they were both overpoweringly nutty. It was like eating peanut shells both times...had to give them both away.
From a Bowman distillery tasting trip review Feb 2024... Re: The John J.... It's double distilled, "at a sister distillery" but is not one of the four BT standard mashbills, finished at Bowman, and aged a non-stated ten years.

On the 4 Roses point, it probably comes down to they are still coming off of only distributing to export Asian countries. So they are able to expand a bit now. Still love their stuff too.
It sounds like 4 Roses is releasing 2 new recipes aside from B and E, one of the recipes is 43% rye (highest rye mash bill) and a new lowest 10% rye. If they do the same with their yeast strains - that doubles the combinations from 10 to 20.
Ill guess the 5 before live stream 1. New Riff SB 2. Russells 10 SB 3. Jd SB 4. Bowman SB 5. KC 9 SB Tell me where I am wrong. Trenton may throw in the Benchmark, but dont think Old 55 gets in because so hard to find outside Indiana
Trenton is the most eccentric person ever. Hates summer, doesn’t like jam, keeps whiskey in his car and garage, eats Taco Bell.
I think he’s my type! 🤣
Summer is nice in concept, awful in execution
Summer sucks, but the rest is definitely unique haha
Wiseguys is by far the best all around bar for bourbon options to drink and to buy.
Hates pie but enthusiastically tries lawn mushrooms.
Four Roses SB got me started on my bourbon journey. Still one of my favorites.

I keep the Benchmark SB on my shelves as the starter sip when I'm having friends over for a bourbon night ... very consistent and tasty.

I agree with Trenton. Jack Daniel's Ryes are so good now.
So true. I found one that was so good, I went back to the store and bought two more. This bottle was just a hair less quality than OF SBBS Rye.
Trenton should spend a summer in Georgia , the last week has been 100° plus with 98%humidity. By the way I got the flask you sent today and it's really nice , especially like the heavy top . Thank you!

New Riff SB is amazing
Great video! Rebel 10 is up to 120 at total wine. I have the worst four roses single barrel ever
Benchmark Single Barrel is one of my Tops!
"tastes like a PhD" is the perfect opportunity for me to borrow your platform to say i just passed my defense for a chemistry PhD this Wednesday.
Congratulations! 🎉 You've earned some bourbon! 🥃Enjoy!
@@mattschmitt9924 thank you, I opened my JD SBBP RYE for the occasion... Lived up to the hype

Ayyyy! I passed my defense in May, lets gooooo!

These longer videos have been greeeaattt!!
Evan Williams SiBs are all around Colorado this year for $32-35. And I’ve been buying them. Nice value for 9 year single barrels
Great lists. I would have included Henry McKenna, but I’ve experienced a lot of variation in consistency with those bottles/barrels. The good ones are great, and the bad ones are (wait for it….) bad.
Just picked up a John J Bowman SB. It is an absolutely fantastic pour.
Summer is the worst. I’m right there with you. Unless you’re in a pool the weather is miserable!
Great selection, especially the JD Rye and the JJ Bowman! Thanks!
I have five of those - Four Roses, JD rye, Bowman,Russels,Knob Creek plus the JD single barrel you mentioned. I was never a JD fan because I don’t like Old No7 until I tried the rye. Up here near Seattle, we have barely hit the 70s. Cool mornings and clouds all day. Got up to 72 today.
At the James beam distillery I got to bottle my own two bottles of knob creek 9 single barrel reserve. They let us put our finger prints in the wax. Cant wait to open one of them now.
I had to get out of bed to verify I have the JJB Single Barrel. VA ABC has them pretty regularly.
The Rebel 10 I have surprised me at how good it is. Just right sweet/oak balance for me
Interesting list! Definitely agree with the New Riff, KCSB, and Russell’s. Wish I could find Old 55 here in the Carolinas. The JDSB Rye is a solid choice much to my surprise when I bought it. Looking forward to tonight’s Live!! 😊

@@o.o-vt1rc There's plenty of great bottles under $100 that make a great Bday gift. Blanton should never be over that, either.

I’m hoping to find 3 of the first 4….. not in my state so it’s been kinda tough. But I’ll keep looking.
I just got a John J in the last Alabama Quarterly. Excited to try it out.
Love the rebel 10. Had two different new riffs, one I didn’t care too much for but the other I really enjoyed. I’d love to get my hands on a John J.
Couldn't agree more on the JDSBBPR
Oh jeez. Try July & August in AZ. Not a day where the low is below 90. 117? Yeah, baby. Not that humid, so I'll give you that.

Love that JD BP Rye!
I am with you Trent!
Four Roses is coming out with a 52% corn 43% rye 5% malted barley bourbon. That might be as close as you'll get to a rye from them.
@slbdrinks I think your a lil off on the EvanW SiB price. Just got it in Boston, lots on shelf, 32.99.
At 49.99 I scooped it right up
An absolute steal on that bottle. Congrats! I have found these bottles to taste similar to Weller 12.
It is a store pick and a damn good one! All of Damon’s picks have been outstanding!
Knob Creek Single Barrel Rye 115 proof should be up there, too. I've seen some 8+ year bottles lately.
Don’t get the Brnchmark series in AL for whatever reason but I have the bonded and it’s great for the price
I am surprised that Kurt didn’t choose WT 101 Single Barrel. That has become one of my favorite pours.

Russell’s Reserve SiBs can be found at Meijer in IN for about $64 when on the shelf

We had Evan Williams SB in Minn 2 months ago for $28
I got the 9 year in MN and got 2, the first lasted a week.
Buddy picked up a JD single barrel rye. It was very weird. Tasted almost exclusively like dill pickles and dirt. He's very tempted to dump it.
It wasn’t THE gift, just a bonus.

Evan Williams SiB still around $33 in Texas.
Ill guess the 5 before live stream

Tell me where I am wrong. Trenton may throw in the Benchmark, but dont think Old 55 gets in because so hard to find outside Indiana
KC9 single barrel is a must have. I like her more than KC12.
Damn 12 is my favorite
Particularly the picks. I've had a couple with a cherry note on them - imagine the KC with some cherry to it!!
@@sugarkitty4777 yeah KC9 store picks are amazing, same with the rye picks
@@markcalhoun8219I've yet to try the knob rye. I need to get on that.
Mmmmmm. Rye pick. They're like a delicious bourye....
Kurt - c'mon over to STL. I'll take you to my store where you can load up on Russell's SB for $55!
I picked up a new riff single barrel, it was extremely clove heavy.
Four Roses is releasing two new mash bills. One is 52C/43R/5B and the other is 85C/10R/5B.
Trenton, the EW single barrel is around $40
