Fun facts:
You can beat the Petal Isles Battleship without any clouds if you use Nabbit with the boosting spin jump badge
You can beat Timer-Switch Dash without activating any switches if you use Yoshi with the grappling vine badge
You can beat Wall-Climb Jump II without using the wall-climb jump using Yoshi (only jumping off off walls with a spin jump). Actually, most badge challenges are possible - a surprising amount even without Yoshi - which is quite disappointing but also cool. This challenge was by far the hardest one of the possible ones to clear without using the badge!
Why specifically Nabbit?
@slyar Well most of the level is possible with Yoshi (i didn't actually try the other characters) but there's a bit at the end with rotating burners where Yoshi gets knocked back too much and dies and there's no way around taking the damage. It might work with other characters but they don't get infinite damage boosts so I'm not sure

Wow, this game is proving to be incredibly difficult, even mostly impossible for most of the usual challenge concepts. I think only "Without a Coin" was technically possible, but that's using both the multi-player mode and playing as Yoshi to make things more doable. Even if some of these were possible, none of them would be without these things. I guess the game's devs were not kidding that this is the most difficult 2D Mario game yet, especially when you add an extra ruleset 😅😅😅

@@SalmonsAnimations this game has a whole level (Muncher Fields) reminiscent of one from Mario 3. It's a sort of callback to the past for nostalgia sake and 'handing the torch' to a new era of 2D Mario

You are required to touch water on the W4 Bowser Jr fight, so its impossible even with out of bounds on the world map

There's actually a glitch where you switch to multiplayer on the world map, have the first player go to a linear section, then jump with the second player and switch to multiplayer again to get the second player out of bounds. You can use this glitch to skip the first castle and remove 1 block touch.

You can skip the block touch at World 1 palace by going to online mode and the same applies for the second block touch at poison ruins, but at last, you can't skip the first block touch at the same level
At world one, that was a three by one block, right? He only said "blocks", not long ones.
Edit: and I guess that large ones are still squares, so it counts.

Honestly very confused about what is and is not considered a "block" it seems that some levels have things considered as blocks but then another has nearly identical things not considered as blocks

You can skip world 1, 2, and 3 by doing the 2-player map glitch. But I'll continue to see if world 4, 5, and 6 are possible without touching a single block to see if it's actually possible to beat Mario Wonder without touching a single block. (Edit: Nope.)

0:58 Fun fact:
You can actually do this jump without touching any blocks with any characters, but you need to be frame AND pixel perfect when building speed on the grass and pipe section at the start.

I'd argue that the majority of these levels have mandatory blocks that are technically blocks, mainly ground blocks.

You were very clever with the second level! Also on the first castle, you could’ve gone online and fall into the acid so someone or a standee can get you on the other side of the blocks. So it probably is possible. But I haven’t seen the whole video yet so if I see anything else possible which you think isn’t, I’ll comment it on here
Edit: I got to the part of the video where you did the uncharted ruins place and I can now say that this challenge is impossible
Some moving platforms and The Yellow Squares of The Skedaddlers level are Actually Blocks, so they should be counted, as well as other ones.

It would be very nice (at least for me), if you included an actual needed block count in the end instead of "a couple more blocks". It just feels incomplete and off that way. Great video overall tho, i always enjoy ur challenge runs. keep it up!
I didn't even know there were blocks in the unreachable treasure level, I just wall-jumped up the pipe using the parachute badge on my first playthrough

Yeah, okay, no.
That first secret exist was not doable, even if it was a cutscene that was putting you on these music blocks. Rules are "don't touch any block", don't bend them whenever it suits you.

This was over at level 2. Not counting the block after the Wonder Flower and then using 2 controllers are both copouts.
I don’t think using 2 controllers is because that’s common in challenges like these and it’s still not touching a block but I absolutely agree that the wonder flower was such a cop out and a bit disappointing
Tecnicaly in the First palace you can switch to two player you pick Simeone can die After this you became a Ghost and you can go tò the second player and respawn where there Is no blocks

Well on W-1 castle if you’re online you can just fall in the lava and the player that has passed that part you can get them to help you pass through the blocks without touching them

I personally wouldn't count the blocks in that world 6 ruins level. The blocks I believe are a one-off gimmick and those grey blocks I feel function identically to ground, as well as seemingly being exclusive to that one level as well.
Therefore, with my own personal rules of what counts, you only touched 3 blocks throughout this challenge.
