  • Controversy is swirling around a junior high cheerleading squad in Utah after a 14-year-old girl with down syndrome was not pictured in the group photo that was in the yearbook. Morgyn Arnold is the beloved manager of the squad. Like the other cheerleaders, she posed in the team photo for the school's yearbook. But when her family eagerly opened it, Morgyn was nowhere to be found. Shoreline Junior High’s school district in Utah is now apologizing. #InsideEdition

I can't even begin to imagine how crushed & humiliated she must have felt when she opened that yearbook & realized she wasn't pictured with the rest of the team. It's disgusting, criminally insensitive & downright outrageous.
      In my opinion, she deserves a proper apology from her school -- not a simple shrug & an "oops we made a mistake lol." That is not an apology. And this was clearly not just "a mistake." If this was a mistake, why were none of the other girls left out of the yearbook picture? Why was it JUST the one girl who happens to be handicapped? Did it come to your mind that when you were typing this comment, they could’ve meant something different by saying “mistake”? That it could’ve been a mistake in leadership, that they were wrongly informed about what to do, that this could’ve been a mistake in that they didn’t mean to hurt anybody by doing this?
      No matter the circumstance, I don’t see how anybody could possibly point to “ableism” as a conclusion to be made out of this situation. I think that, if anything, it was due to how she was represented in the photo. She wasn’t wearing the uniform or using proper equipment, not even posing properly. Her disability does not prevent her from doing this things, and if you were to be anywhere near reasonable and not stick to leftist SJW agenda, you’d understand that your perspective on the situation is completely idiotic.

      Usually, when you have group pictures you may take multiple shots, and with various people in different positions. A main one with everyone for things like yearbooks or other formal uses, and more individual/smaller groups ones for independent use. In girl scouts, we would take multiple pictures of the entire troop, then individual friend groups too. And it's entirely possible that they took a picture without her at first, maybe she was getting a drink of water at the time and syill on her way, and they waited to take the next group pic when she got there. It could also be they took the picture with her first, then she got tired of picture taking but the others still wanted to take a few more even if those pictures weren't intended to be used. They likely took more than just these two photos, and whoever was putting them in the yearbook either was sent all of them and chose this one, or was sent the wrong set of pictures entirely. There's a lot of potential explanations for why this could have happened without malicious actions. At the very least, due to other shifts in the picture, this does not appear to be photoshopped, and was simply a picture taken around the same time, probably within a couple minutes of each other.

    • @soapa4279
      @soapa4279 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I don't think they intentionally got together to make a new photo. I'm pretty sure it was just one of the ones they took on the same day, and ultimately decided to pick the one that didn't include her. The other messed up part is not even mentioning her name.
      Also maybe it is or isn't entirely on the school, but more often times it's the "Yearbook" club or whatever they're called, that curate the yearbook photos, which is usually a bunch of the students. Maybe it wasn't the cheerleading club or adults, but rather some messed up teenager deciding the photo is better without her.
