@@angieeena4848 that is not acceptable. My elementary school i attended in Ontario, Canada used the company Chartwells. It’s ridiculous that this is happening, you kids need to speak up. Publicly shaming the school or your schools board is sometimes the only thing that makes them do anything. They don’t like to look bad online and especially if you get your friends parents calling in they will have no choice.

The worst part is that some kids can’t afford to bring their own lunch everyday or buy extra snacks to hold them over. So they’re either forced to eat whatever that’s SUPPOSED to be or starve until they get home. They preach about healthy food options and how much they care for students but this isn’t even the only school with this problem!

Imagine not being able to afford your own lunch so you HAVE to eat this school lunch or DONT eat at all. Some children depend on the school’s lunch just to have a meal for the day. This is sickening

How? If you have kids and live below the poverty line, then you get food stamps. If you live below a certain income level, your kids get free school lunch. And in some cases, breakfast too. There’s always soup kitchens and food shelves. So I don’t see how any modern child of any income level that’s in the public school system only has this meal each day, unless their parent is withholding their ability to eat. At which point, there is CPS. So please explain.
It should be a rule that at least every high ranking staff member in a school should eat the school lunch for at least 1 day. On a random one too so they can't cherry pick what they wanna eat.
People don’t realize that for many kids, their only meal of the day comes in the form of school lunch. This is disgusting, not just on how it looks, but it’s morally disgusting as well.
My school lunches food was actually not bad (not restaurant quality, but totally passable and some of the food was actually good). But I definitely support making your own meals over whatever the hell is shown here.
Same here. Ever since my kid started preschool right through high school. Snacks/lunch/juice/water packed every single day from home. Never trusted school lunches. Sorry.
Shiii, I’d rather starve than eat that. By the looks of those lunches, if someone ate that, they’d probably be the reason why the bathroom is down for maintenance.
They definitely do not value what their students eat health wise and safety wise and they're yelling at kids for going to the bathroom too long and shoving their phones in paper pags, stapling them shut cause the student was trying to message their mom about a problem. I've never had the good experience of having packed lunches, so I had to eat the school lunches, and if you told the school monitors you didn't want the lunch, they would bring it to you. Now I've gotten into the habit of just hiding in the restroom, where no one really goes cause it's blocked off.

I'm in MD & my children tell me the school food is pretty disgusting & not edible. Why can't these schools serve our children a decent meal? It's like they buy the cheapest food they can possible source.
Some of them truly might not. When I was a teacher I was too busy during lunch talking with parents, doing makeup tests with students, etc. to visit the cafeteria. And school was out at 2:00, so I ate at home. I’ve worked in 3 schools and have never stepped foot in any of their cafeterias. 😬
most teachers don't actually know what the food looks like at least in my school. the teachers having their lunch, very far away from us. They only time they come to OUR lunch is to bring us to class meaning lunch is over. By then, the food has been aten. at least for my school, the food is not bad. as such, they don't get to see our food, but the food is not bad nor rotten nor expired, etc.
It's crazy to think they cant get chefs. At my high school they paid students to work the lunch period and they earned a "alternative credit" like Home Ec. Students were happy and lunch was good AND this was a public school.
My cousin went to an arts high school where they had the culinary students made them lunch. It was a win-win since the students got to practice their skills and their peers got good food.

I remember making a petition in middle school that basically wanted hair nets and basic food regulatations at our school. 3 of 6 of us got suspended. Really crushed my democratic dream.
If that happened to me my parents would yell so hard at them that it could be heard in china
That's ridiculous. Why would you guys get suspended for voicing your concerns? They probably did that because they knew you guys were righ,t!
School: "Always respect people's opinions and statements!"
Also schools:
People get so offended and butthurt at even the implication someone would say their hair got into the food. Y’all had a legitimate concern and they act like you’re accusing them of war crimes.
That's another level of hard, i remember almost taking my school to court because they wouldn't let me get my dream hairstyle. But the school just let me have the hairstyle because it was too much trouble going to court, and they knew i had the money.
I love how they said it’s only a few “rare” incidents, but at my school I’ve seen mold, raw pizza, and expired food more than once. It’s so awful
Take videos and show your parents, teachers, principals. Post it online. Nothing will change for you otherwise
Thats crazy... the highschool i went to didnt have the best tasting food but they were super strict on date checking and cleanliness. I dont get how staff is ok with serving mold when they know CHILDREN have to eat it. Especially that if it were an elementary school they possibly could not even know it was spoiled and eat it anyways
my middle school had a extreme incident where expired milks were being drank, they called people who had one to come up and get a new one. i even was one of the many of them. i was honestly disgusted. and even the other day i saw steak being served during picture day and NOBODY ate it. it looked like puke was poured over it, just horrifying and the idea of looking at it or thinking about it makes me wanna puke.
@@angieeena4848 that is not acceptable. My elementary school i attended in Ontario, Canada used the company Chartwells. The same one as in this video, the food was delicious, it was full plate of spaghetti and meatballs with chicken noodle soup on the side and either pudding or cake, with a drink that isn’t milk. It’s ridiculous that this is happening, you kids need to speak up. Publicly shaming the school or your schools board is sometimes the only thing that makes them do anything. They don’t like to look bad online and especially if you get your friends parents calling in they will have no choice.
It's not that rare at all. Highschool in the 2000s in texas I saw no shortages of expired food and moldy pizza. "A few instances" is a joke.
What I don’t understand is how this is now being taken seriously after decades of complaining about school food
Its not being took seriously, the video is blaming the pandemic
Most kids now have access to social media to post their gross food instead of just complaining to their parents about it

I agree, ma'am.
And the institutions use this excuse to not let people eat out and cheap out the meals while at the same time them eating fast food and homemade food! They have the equipment to COOK meals. I've seen stoves in the teachers lounge!
This is true and I chose hunger. I ended up only eating the bread and chocolate milk as a kid. If they had it.
I would just like to point out that this hasn’t been only an issue after COVID-19 like they’re making it out to be, I graduated in 2018 and some of the food that was served in the multiple schools with varying budgets that I went to was of this caliber. That is the reason that I kept snacks in my lockers so that people didn’t have to eat this kind of garbage
School lunches have been a joke since the 90s. I've been to school in both the US and UK, actually starting in the UK. UK school food isn't great (British cooking, amirite?) but it was better than anything I had in the US at any point (I moved back in 2nd grade). I graduated high school in 2010 after having attended school in the same school district since 2nd grade... awful. Awful awful awful. Nothing but bland carbs in some gross sauce with some veggies cooked to the point of disintegration.
Yeah, my school has served sludge since WAY before the pandemic
I graduated in 2010 also. Food was pretty good for me. We were pretty happy. I’m glad they made sure we had quality food.
K wait, in the US do you guys just never bring your own food ? Is this school lunch thing mandatory ?
Our highschool cafe was like a restaurant you could order whatever. But you paid at the till.
Exactly!!! This is definitely not a “pandemic” issue! This has been going on for as long as I can remember & I graduated in 2009!
"I am sorry we didnt meet the expectations" WHAT DID YOU HINK THE EXPECTATIONS WERE? DOG FOOD? IS THE EXPECTATION EDIBLE FOOD?

The issue with the Board of Education President’s response is that it doesn’t mean anything. By saying “I wouldn’t feed this to *my* kids…” while obviously true sort of deflects responsibility onto the kitchen staff when what they have available to make and the funding that goes into the food is largely his responsibility. By saying “I wouldn’t feed this to my kids…” rather than taking responsibility (and apologizing), he fails to actually address the issue, and instead opts to comment on it like everyone else instead of doing something about it.
