Had to order this, too! I'm in big trouble 😆 . This plane is really nice. Another box and flying. Thank you for your instructions and video. Made it fun and easy!!
Glad you showed that crash where the wing split in half. I had that exact same thing happen to my ranger when I was doing some aerobatics. Glad they made that upgrade. Got a green one on the way!
I shared that with FMS Engineering several months ago.. Several people sent them notes about the lack of a spar. I'm really happy they listened to the customers. Its a great plane... Now, its even better.
Great video Will. I will be looking at one of these as I crashed my V1 in a swamp on Sunday evening. I had done a loop followed by a roll and it just nose-dived right after. Oops. I do so enjoy this plane and love that green. Maybe FMS will send one to me too!
Hey my friend these are awesome planes I have the yellow one and as you know Ive crashed it and you helped me out with a part and its flying great love it and its one of the best trainer or a plane to have and just love to fly. Thanks for the share!!!👍👍👍👍👍
I recently got into RC planes and I got myself PA-18 1300 from FMS. I had to pick it because I don't have any RC club / RC airfield near me and I am only left with grass fields. I would love to fly the Ranger too though. Your videos are really helpful for a beginner, keep up the great work. Love from Poland. btw. I also love to fly early mornings!!!
I like your style, man. Nice video. I've come across several of your vids here and there, most notably the "fraught" one 😂 until I made the connection to your channel. Good stuff!
Really glad you like them. I enjoy making reviews and educational videos. I get lots of video ideas from viewers comments and talking with the guys at my club.. Thanks for your comment.. - Will
Great video Steffen! I think FMS will do as much split tails as they can as it saves so much on packaging and shipping and it's a smart move. But I think they could have done it much easier. Another similar plane is the Arrows Trekker which in fact is an even better plane.
If you are referring to the RTF kit with transmitter included. It does NOT have a throttle cut. Something I've told FMS they need to program. I don't have the RTF v2, but will ask if they have made the change. If you are looking for your next plane. You might want to invest in a better TX. The system that are included with the RTF has much to be desired. btw, the Ranger V2 is an amazing trainer plane. I've trained a mess of pilots with them and it doesn't get much better.
Excellent video thanks, mine is arriving this week, I will also be getting a Spektrum AR631 receiver for my NX8. Question? Do I need any other extra wiring to connect these receivers together? The Reflex and the AR631? or is everything right there with the plane and Reflex? I’m new as you can tell lol Thanks for any help
Congrats on the new plane. The Reflex V3 Gyro will connect to your AR631 with ease. All the cables should be included. Feel free to ask any questions you might have during your assembly/setup. - Will
The Reflex system will enable you to limit the servo throws and adjust the Gyro via the app. The Reflex will be tuned for the Ranger, so you shouldn't need to make changes to the Gyro gains. If your transmitter doesn't have a way to control the servo throws, the app will enable you to limit that if you need. I usually make all servo adjustments, throws, zeroing from the transmitter...
Don, It will take a 2200, but there isn't much room. You'll need to push it back in the fuselage a little to get the CG right. I've never flown the Super EZ, I hear its a good plane. I think the planes would fly very similar. The biggest difference is the landing gear. If you fly from a hard surface runway, the Ranger's tricycle gear will be better suited. If you fly from rough surface or grass, the EZ would handle that best. For me the Ranger is a better looking plane. Let me know what you decide. Thanks Will
just wondering does to c rating on the battery matter because I can't find and battery's that are 25c like to one that comes in the RTF kit if not should I just buy a 30c or a 40c battery?
On a plane like this Ranger the C rating should be a minimum 25. You can always go up. In fact I'm flying mine on an SMC 1800mah 3S 80C with a weight of 150g. There are many videos about C Rating. Some of the rating from manufacturers is hype.. Good luck...
I was thinking of upgrading the wheels for the 1220mm Ranger. Question is..should I? 3” tires? But I see that nose wheel being an issue because of how it is mounted. Any suggestions?
Well, the nose wheel would need some mods.. Stock is 1.75", you might be able to fit a 2" nose wheel, but I don't thing there is an advantage.. You could 3D print a plastic part to replace the original which would allow a 2.5" wheel.. Maybe???
Hey so i got mine all assembled, I’m running into an issue where if i lift the elevator for takeoff, the ailerons move into a left bank position, did I connect something wrong? I am under the impression that when I pull back on the right stick for take off, the aileron should stay level? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
@ Yeah, it surprised me too when I was doing the range check, good thing I didn’t take off. The aileron banks left when I pull on the right stick and banks right when I push on it. I disconnected everything and recon it but still same. I’m guessing the servo controller could be bad? I reached out to FMS, I’ll report back when I hear back. Thank you for the reply.
I'd eliminate the Reflex Gyro first. See if the issue is in the Gyro or the RX. Did you buy the RTF version? Or do you have you own transmitter and receiver? It kinda sounds like the connections from the RX to the reflex aren't correct. Revisit the directions on the reflex and make sure the cables from the rx are correctly installed in the Reflex.
@ Stef I figured it out, it’s the switch on the RTF TX, the one to the very far left, it’s labeled V-MIR or MTR, can’t really see what it is. Once I switched that, the aileron no longer moves with elevator. We performed our maiden flight and she flew well. Thank you for the help and feedback, it is very much appreciated!
@ have fun with that plane. When you start getting good, buy a programmable Transmitter. They are so much better than that Flysky stuff. FMS should use a better solution.
Are use an X6B receiver on my airplanes. This has battery telemetry and range. As well as others which I don’t use. With my TX 16 I then get announcements of battery voltage and range so that I do not fly out of range. This is an FR sky protocol, not spectrum
@@rlatall1 I still have a bunch of FrSky gear. Love their stuff. Battery telemetry is a snap with that sensor. The Lemon RX stuff is ok, but not using on the fancy/expensive planes. 😎
For me, the Big Foot is more fun to fly. The aerobatics are better and I like tail draggers. But, my new pilots prefer the Ranger since the Tricycle gear is easier on the ground..
@@SteffenRC Wow somehow i already knew you would see it the same as me when it comes to over all capability of the Arrows Big Foot being more fun to fly. Thanks Man
Steven, the aeroscout is a great plane. I need to make a detailed video on beginner planes, pros and cons. The Aeroscout will be on that list of top planes for sure. The only reason its not in my hanger is the looks and sound.. I'm a sucker for a Cessna 150.
Great upgrades on an already great trainer. Great tips too Will. Thanks for showing her off! I like the green...I can see it!
No doubt.. The Green is a great color... Its a keeper.

Great assembly tips and flight. I have the green livery on order😊

This Ranger can do grass, but it requires the grass to be relatively smooth. That front wheel might flex too much if its rough..
I can’t wait to fly this I’m so excited
The Ranger is one of the best.. Really enjoy flying it and helping others learn to fly with it.
Cessna 150 clones are hard to beat. Another great video Will!

Does the version 2 have a motor activate/deactivate switch like the Aeroscout trainer? I like the safety of knowing the prop wont turn unintentionally

@ one last thing please…the reflex system has an app via Bluetooth (I think?) can servo’s and services be adjusted and zeroed out using the app maybe?
The Reflex system will enable you to limit the servo throws and adjust the Gyro via the app. The Reflex will be tuned for the Ranger, so you shouldn't need to make changes to the Gyro gains. If your transmitter doesn't have a way to control the servo throws, the app will enable you to limit that if you need. I usually make all servo adjustments, throws, zeroing from the transmitter...
