    Great improvements on this. Love the assembly refinements, electrical connectors, etc. I see they still have the noisy wheels like the 1400mm version. I greased my wheels on the old 182 and they are great now, I couldn't stand it sounding like a "toy" with squeaky wheels.

    Excellent presentation ! I loved how scale and gentle she seemed to fly. The behavior on floats really looked good. It seemed to be able to lift off the water much easier than your little Ranger.
    Speaking of the Ranger - I don't remember the details - but it seems there was an optimum placement of the step of the floats in relation to the overall CG. And in that regard, I was thinking that maybe the Ranger floats could do better if they were placed slightly farther forward overall. Just looking at your Cessna, it's stance sitting on the water seemed a bit tail low. ( Which I think is a bit more correct - and a good thing. ) The Ranger in comparison seemed to sit more forward or level while just sitting there. I think one aspect of the Cessna's arrangement is that the step is a bit more forward - and that once it is running along the water - it is easier for your up elevator to cause the plane to pivot (on the step) easier - get some positive incidence - and fly off. I hope you have good luck to figure it out with the Ranger. Thanks for another great video !

      Thanks.. The Cessna is a keeper. Speaking of the Ranger.. You are right about the step on the pontoons. I'm going to review my assembly.. Maybe I goofed it up. Thanks for the support and thoughts about the Ranger.

    Hello Steffen,
    Great review, as usual! The plane is so beautiful and scaled (in my opinion), but why the heck did FMS put those flashing navigating lights and solid strobe lights?! We know, It should be vice versa. I haven't purchased my FMS 1500mm Cessna yet, but I was wondering if all of the wing lights are connected separately, so I could install a switch for the landing light, to start glowing when landing flaps are deployed (as I did on my FMS Sky Trainer). My other question is if the wingtip lights (nav and strobe) have some driver (like BJT transistor) to make them flash or if they are blinking LEDs by default? Because if they blink by default I'd like to change them with solid light LEDs (red and green) and to change the solid strobe lights with blinking ones. I'll be very grateful if you have time and will to check that, so I'll know what could be done and what will stay as it is.
    Again, thank you for this comprehensive review!
    Regards, Emo

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks.. Yes, you can make the nav lights static. But they are colored LED and I don't think I can change color. The other option is to move the Nav lights to the tips and move the tip lights to the landing light location... But getting them to switch on with flaps could require some re-wiring.. Isn't impossible and it might be worth the effort. I'm seriously thinking about it..

    • @emiliyanmartinov
      @emiliyanmartinov 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SteffenRC thank you for your reply! Just to make things clear for me - One can make the nav lights solid by changing them or re-wiring?
      P.s.: by installing a simple rc switch between the receiver and the landing light, she looks so realistic during landing flaps deployment on the final approach:)

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@emiliyanmartinov Yes, you can remove the nav lights from the flashing adapter they are plugged into and move that to the green board open 3pin plugs.. Hard to explain without a picture, but easy to do... Might do a video on this..

    • @emiliyanmartinov
      @emiliyanmartinov 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SteffenRC It will be very helpful! Now I think I got it - if there is a separate flashing adapter for the nav lights, it would be easy (hope that) to correct it. Because in all of the videos I've seen, I noticed only the green pcb, nothing else. Thanks!

    It looks real. Nice review. Do you use flight mode trim so that you can trim it in each position of the flaps? I use the analog switch on the throttle stick as a 2nd flight mode switch which I call my TO/GA switch. It raises my flaps from landing to takeoff position automatically during touch-and-goes. I just posted a new video about flight mode trim. I also have one on my TO/GA switch.

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used to do that type of setup after watching BD Tennessee talk about it, but now just trim as usual, then mess with the flap mix after testing. Maybe I setup something wrong, but messing with trim in 3 different modes became tedious. But I know several guys that really like that method...

    • @txkflier
      @txkflier 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SteffenRC Tedium is going in and out of the flap system menu between flights and using trial and error to get the mix right. It's much easier to use the normal trim switches in flight where you can immediately see what you're doing. I didn't show it in my video, but after I get the trims where I want them, I note the output of the elevator channel in the monitor screen for the takeoff and landing positions of the flaps, center those trims, and set the elevator mix in the flap system menu for the same output value I saw earlier in the monitor screen.

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@txkflier I get what your are saying, however a quick couple flights to nail down my mix doesn't really cause me issues. What got me was when I was trimming the plane in winter with flight modes and then flying again in warmer weather. The plane required to be trimmed a little so, It seemed troublesome to re-trim in the 3 modes again. Everyone has there preferred way to do it.. (heck look at my TX Switch location video comments... 🙂. ). I appreciate your details around this stuff, thanks. Will

      @@SteffenRC Yeah, I could write a book on how people set up their switches. I'm amazed that some put different color covers, fuel line, etc. on their switches so they can tell the switches apart. Some want each surface to have its own rate/expo switch. I keep mine simple and logical. I'll have to look at that video. 🤠

      Funny thing. I just grabbed some wheels from my wheel drawer (lots of them). I'm using Dubro Low-bounce rubber on the mains and a foamlite on the front. Similar size to original. I did need to sand the retaining plastic bit on the wheel pants to make the wheel spin freely, but that was minimal.

    What does the full setup (plane, remote, battery, charger) cost?

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dan, this plane isn't sold as a Ready to fly (RTF). This is a plug and play (PnP). So, you'll need to include the Transmitter, Receiver, battery and charger. That said, you can get those items at low cost (or spend a ton) depending on your wallet... I fly two different radio systems, Spektrum ($200-$400)and FrSKY (same). Both are good and offer affordable options. SMCRacing has quality Lipo batteries ($15-$20). Chargers range in cheap to holy cow in price ($40-$200)... If you think this is the hobby for you, then buy better.. I have created a How to fly rc plane series you might find helpful too. Check it out on my Channel.
