Personally I like how abridged handled the whole "can you feel fear" question better than the original. Just adding the "let's fix that shall we?" makes vegeta sound badass since even if it's not possible for an android to feel fear he's gonna make it happen regardless and he does do it
That is incorrect. It was inconclusive if he could feel fear. Fixing that involves testing if he can feel fear, with "no" as an acceptable answer. Certainly he prefers if it can, but he's not promising to make it feel fear if it can't, which would be nonsense.

I have watched this many, many times over the years, and I'm still finding new jokes. For instance, I didn't know about the One Piece swallow sound. There's little stuff like that sprinkled in everything.
1- In the show, Trunks tells Goku to not take the medince UNTIL the symptons start to appear. The medicine doesnt prevent it from happening, it just combats the disease. 2- The music track used for when Vegeta transforms is actually Vegeta's own theme "Saiyan Blood", but it's far from being the iconic theme the fandom knows him for.

(For those who don't know, a subroutine is something running in the background of a program, meaning the exact opposite of what Android 20 is saying. Of course, usually writers aren't programmers, so it's ok if they don't know that.)
In abridged, Goku has high cholestorol, which is a treatable problem he has in the moment - so he stopped taking the medicine as a character gag. In the show he contracts a heart virus - the problem being that the medicine only works after symptoms start showing. His symptoms started showing at the worst possible moment, so he had to get bailed out by Vegeta. (they only have one dose, and future Bulma created the antidote, so they don't have an easy way of getting more.) The whole heart virus thing is a bit vague - I always assumed he got it from Yardrat (the planet he learned Instant Transmission on) but I think if you actually read the manga they never confirm _where_ he contracted it, but characters _speculate_ that he got it while he was in space.
This scene was so baddass in the show, super saiyan Vegeta's entrance..every other super saiyan at this point needed something traumatising to happen, Vegeta was just like nah, I'm gonna train myself to hit that level of anger and power. Still him crying saying "I wanna, I wanna" was genius on TFS part. 🤣
The guy doing Giro's voice is actually a professional voice actor. He's done work in Fairy Tale and Overlord. The guy who plays Krillin (who is also one of the co-founders of TFS) also does professional voice work.
what happens in the show with gokus heart disease is that they never take the medicine because the symptoms never showed up. We learn later that because Trunks traveled through time some events were altered (Androids 19,20, and 16 showing up, gokus disease doesn't start till later, etc.) And yes, in the show goku loses because the disease becoming worse because he goes super saiyan
Pure heart doesn’t mean be a good person. Just be true in your ideals and needing the power to achieve those ideals. For Goku it was thought because he was kind but in actuality he wanted to avenge Krillin and needed the power to do so. For Vegeta he always assumed he was the strongest but could never admit that Goku was stronger. But when he did admit it he needed the power to be stronger than Goku. For Trunks he always wanted felt that the Androids had to be destroyed but it wasn’t until Gohan died that he felt they need to be destroyed. And for Gohan well… you’ll find out.
The music for Vegeta's transformation that they used here is called Saiyan Blood. When the lyrics kick in it's literally Vegeta talking about how he's better than everyone, sung by his Japanese VA. The song was originally played in Dragon Ball Kai, which is basically a remastered and filler cut version of DBZ, when Vegeta was facing final form Frieza. You know when he got pummeled to death.
9:28 I also don't know from where did Gohan took that from but I remember Vegeta answering "my heart is pure... pure evil" and yes he learned to become a Super Saiyan after training a lot but what triggered the transformation was him being frustrated he wasn't able to transform
Love seeing someone's first reaction. Watching this Abridged again along with you reacting and your cluelessness about DBZ as you only played DBZKakarot is funny to me.
Vegeta can't get any cooler than when he uses the two f words. Also two very memorable moments, when he cry begging to Goku to avenge the pride of the sayiens. And when he sacrifices himself to kill Buu.(it never works)
Just to reiterate what others have said, Trunks originally said to take the medicine when he starts having symptoms, he didn't start until now and for whatever reason they came full force
5:35 Dude, they've been using the footage of the anime the whole time (movies included). Which means, you are watching the anime, but summarized in a hilarious way.
The little rock music playing when Vegeta turns SSJ here is from a song called "Beat you down". If you wanna listen search Vegeta song Beat you down. I think it is his Japanese voice actor who sings about how he wanna become the strongest and stuff.
Man, if you thought this was good, wait till you see the Final Flash scene. The fact that that moment wasn't even given an epic cinematic in the game is one of the biggest insults to Vegeta I've ever seen.
Actually if you don't know, the person that did all the sound effects for Dragon Ball is the same person that did all the sound effects for One Piece, so if you go and watch DBZ, you will recognize pretty much all sound effects
About the swallow sound effect, Toei actually reuses a lot of DBZ sound effects for One Piece. It isn’t strictly for older anime in general, it’s just a sound effect Toei made or acquired for DBZ and then reused for One Piece. The same goes for several of the attack sound effects too.
The Vegeta arc thru the entire series is my favorite part of Dragonball. Watching him grow from a GigaChad to a respectable person and a father warms the heart.
I love that they not only kept the "Can an android feel fear?" bit from the original show/manga, but expanded and frankly improved on it. Absolutely one of TFS's best episodes.
The whole, pure heart is because of a dialog that Freezer said about why Vegeta never achieved the transformation. Also stated by Goku in his discourse during he's fight when he said "I'm the Saiyajin who came from earth to kill you Freezer, I have a calm heart but now I'm the warrior who awakened from the fury, I'm the super Saiyajin Son Goku!" (rough translation, sorry). Anyway, being pure of heart is kinda still necessary to be a super Saiyajin, but that's most because of S cells (cells that Saiyajin have and can be boosted based on how pacificly a Saiyajin has grow)
the sounds effect team for dragon ball are the same as for one piece and theyre both animated by the same studio too which is why the swallow sounds the same
I first watched you back when you barley started reacting to Naruto Shippuden, I remembered you today and decided to look you up again & I'm glad to see you're channel is doing 💯
So, one thing that used to be commonly misunderstood is that the virus that Goku caught was somehow specific to Saiyans. But in the actual story, there was actually quite a few cases. In Trunks timeline, Goku caught the virus fairly quickly after arriving on earth, before a cure could be created. When Trunks went back and warned Goku about his impending death, he expected Goku to suffer the symptoms at around the same time as in his own timeline. The problem is that the changes that Trunks made were far wider reaching than he could have imagined. And so Goku didn't catch any of the symptoms until ironically the day that the Androids showed up. Why that is, is mostly up to speculation, but one of the theories (which iirc I heard from Laughingstock Media) is that Goku spent more time out and about in the cities in Trunks timeline. Whereas in the changed timeline, he spent more time training with Gohan and Piccolo.
The music that played while Vegeta was going Super Saiyan is a track called “Saiyan Blood” preformed by the Japanese VA of Vegeta. The song was composed for the original soundtrack of Dragon Ball Z Kai. A modern revision of the original Dragon Ball Z story. There are a lot of character themes. Give them a listen. Ultra Super Dragon Soul - Goku A Chilling Elegy - Frieza Saiyan Blood - Vegeta The Lone Warrior - Trunks News of the Cell Games - Cell My 18th Magic - Android 18 Ginyu Tokusentai!! - The Ginyu Force Win Tough Fight - ???
4:45 The sound effects guy for the Dragon Ball series also does the sound effects for One Piece. Unfortunately, since Dragon Ball's revival, we've been left out in the cold. Most modern Dragon Ball material uses soundalikes of his old stuff and it's not as good.

In the original story, it was antivirus to an undiscovered virus. Goku didn't get sick when he was supposed to, so he never took the antivirus. Then he got sick during the fight instead.
Piccolo looked at Gohan not because of the whole sub-routine thing. It was because Gero said that dodging isn't that complex and piccolo has been telling Gohan pretty much that the whole time. So it was like he got affirmation from gero about it

There's way too many badass moments in the actual show that Kakarot left out. Especially Vegeta's
This is literally my favorite arc of DBZA, probably everyone’s as well. Can’t wait to see more 😭😭
The cell saga is my favourite in DBZA and DBZ
they just assumed you needed to be pure when its nothing to do with that its all to do with anger and i hear a bubblely feeling in there backs
"Favorite Vegeta scene." Just wait. Kakarot skipped one of those.
Always happy to see you react to this show. Hope we get another one tomorrow. This series gets better and better :3
Little fun fact, in the show Grape flavor was Goku's favorite. So TFS flipping it is golden
This was such a GREAT moment you gatta watch the actual one vegeta is cold
Kakarot is notorious for cutting on the cinematic moments in the Android saga; you have a bunch of neat ones coming up!
There are at least two Vegeta scenes that top that one. I cannot wait for them.
Vegeta: My heart is pure, pure evil!
9:28 I also don't know from where did Gohan took that from but I remember Vegeta answering "my heart is pure... pure evil" and yes he learned to become a Super Saiyan after training a lot but what triggered the transformation was him being frustrated he wasn't able to transform
It seems that any saiyan can become a super saiyan through anger and intense training
This fight in the anime is probably my favorite moment in all of dbz tbh lol..
7:52 "Scanning. Vegeta. Prince of all saiyans. He was a prison... bi*ch!"
The fact that that moment wasn't even given an epic cinematic in the game is one of the biggest insults to Vegeta I've ever seen.
love how Tien just mocking Vegeta and doesn't give a f about what Vegeta gonna do to him
Actually if you don't know, the person that did all the sound effects for Dragon Ball is the same person that did all the sound effects for One Piece, so if you go and watch DBZ, you will recognize pretty much all sound effects
About the swallow sound effect, Toei actually reuses a lot of DBZ sound effects for One Piece. It isn’t strictly for older anime in general, it’s just a sound effect Toei made or acquired for DBZ and then reused for One Piece. The same goes for several of the attack sound effects too.
I just realized that abridged Dr. Gero is voiced by the same guy who voices Ainz in Overlord. This is amazing
Vegeta has THE BEST lines in DBZA and the voice actor delivers them amazingly!!
Yeah you see Vegeta gets to roll all the side villains and he always does it coldly. When it comes to main villains though…not his job.
The Vegeta arc thru the entire series is my favorite part of Dragonball. Watching him grow from a GigaChad to a respectable person and a father warms the heart.
"CAN IT FEEL FEAR"🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That's why after Abridged you should react to every badass scene in buu saga - like the fight between Goku and Vegeta.
Well, it took you almost as long to get the joke as it takes Gohan to dodge.. ;)
8:35 “Let’s fix that shall we?” 😩😩😩
SERIOUSLY! WHAT THE FUCK IS NAMEK!!??
Gero's voice actor also plays Cooler from the DBZA movie and Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord. Might be others, haven't checked.
These videos are always a blast. Cheers Jack.
Vegeta: huh, you beat Kakarot. Maybe I misjudged you.
19: then how about it? Will you lend us a hand?
Vegeta: a hand, huh? *how about I take yours?*
That countdown never happened in the original and its one of the best examples why TFS's dub is so much better
Ultra Super Dragon Soul - Goku
A Chilling Elegy - Frieza
Saiyan Blood - Vegeta
The Lone Warrior - Trunks
News of the Cell Games - Cell
My 18th Magic - Android 18
Ginyu Tokusentai!! - The Ginyu Force
Win Tough Fight - ???
This guy is missing the best jokes by screaming every time 😭
Why is it so nice to watch this show with jack ? 😂🤧
4:45 The sound effects guy for the Dragon Ball series also does the sound effects for One Piece. Unfortunately, since Dragon Ball's revival, we've been left out in the cold. Most modern Dragon Ball material uses soundalikes of his old stuff and it's not as good.
Krillin throwing a senzu bean at yamcha after he gets bruned is the best use of a senzu bean ever
Wait til he sees that Final Flash they COMEPLETELY IGNORED in the game😶😶
Replaying Kakarot because of this run through of DBZA and JUST finished the Gero fight lol. Didn't realize until now I'm playing concurrent with your journey.
Gero's voice actor is an actual anime voice actor.
No Goku actually forgets to take the medicine
In the original story, it was antivirus to an undiscovered virus. Goku didn't get sick when he was supposed to, so he never took the antivirus. Then he got sick during the fight instead.
Need more of these more often! More! MORE!!!!
Piccolo looked at Gohan not because of the whole sub-routine thing. It was because Gero said that dodging isn't that complex and piccolo has been telling Gohan pretty much that the whole time. So it was like he got affirmation from gero about it
In the actual show, Goku gets the medicine, but since he never showed any symptoms of the heart disease, he never took it.
Ok. I know we poke fun at yamcha a lot, especially in Abridged, but he was just flying at a kilometer per second. That’s over 2200 mph. Dang, dude.
It’s no instant transmission but still.
Anyone else think Jack should totally go through all of Kingdom Hearts after he's seen every Dragon Ball series and played all the games?
I got terrified as a kid when I watched it on TV back then. But Vegeta is way more brutal than what you see on abridged.
In the actual show he just doesn’t take the heart medication because he never got sick. Then when they get to the fight he gets sick
Vegeta's trigger he was so obsessed about being a Super Saiyan when he gave up on it and didn't want it anymore he exploded with rage and Power
