A cousin gifted me this album when it was released, I was 15, and it is honest to God one of the best gifts I've ever been given, I remember popping the cd for the firts time in the car and holy sht I was just in awe, kingborn is such a strong entrance to the whole album, fu**ing chills man
17:46 That build up in Towards the Sun though. After the "Swear it now! You will see me soar!" to the fast blast beats 25:41 I always have this mental of Theseus staring at the beginning of the labyrinth, which transitioned into Pathfinder 33:12 I like this bit of The Fall of Asterion 48:20 I got chills at this part. Under Black Sails is definitely the most underrated song in this album and one of the most underrated Fleshgod Apocalypse song 49:59 Labyrinth is hands down my favorite Fleshgod Apocalypse piano piece.
Despite most people think that this album has a muddy mixing, i think the mixing in this album is great for the theme. It's very epic and loud, the screaming choir really give me chills alongside the blast beats
I think this album has a far better mix for the orchestral parts than Agony, with them more 'meaty' and not too thin (plus the choirs); tho in places it does be kinda too much, but I mean it was only their 2nd iteration on their sound so not a big deal really
I fecking love this album. I started listening to them when the Agony album came out...but then this album came out and I was just blown away, and still am to this day. It's just perfect from start to finish.
My first Fleshgod album.. I think this is a pure metal classic. When I don't know what to listen to I always put this in... No matter how many times I listen to it... It's just as awesome as the 1st time...
I don't usually like when I see a wall of comments glazing up an album or a song without any criticism but this time it's deserved. Definitely at the height of the genre. Before I listened to this I thought symphonic metal was a bad subgenre because I knew it to be filled with Nightwish copies.
To this day Labyrinth stands as a fucking masterpiece.
Fact!
@@AvatarofHate From one musician to another, huge fan of your music. It's honestly an honor to even see reply. :)

It does have some issues but the songwriting was just killer. A good riff or harmony can make up for a few hiccups.

Completely agree.
True, but how much better would it be if the mix wasn't complete shit?
The problem is it genuinely hurts my ears
fucking love kingborn and minotaur, prologue is jsut so beautiful too and adds to the album so much and that cut into epilogue is the chefs kiss

@@surtexX oh yeah.. That was album #2..The Egoism is a pure head banging classic. Every song is a banger.
The sidechain kick at the first riff on Kingborn is pure magic,
Masterpiece!
