    I have a grey market mid '80s 2020D, which is marvelous.
    I don't get your starting procedure, at all.
    The thermo start works better than any glow plug unit I have tried.
    In fact I don't think about using it, at all, until around freezing. Then I use it just to be nice. No real need, if you don't mind 3 tries.
    The unit starts with reliability down to -10f.
    Around +20 I tarp the tractor and run 300 watt lights under the transmission.
    It would be miserable to blow seals.
    Of note, I never use the compression release to start the three cylinder.
    I have used it, before attempting a start, to move oil around.
    Hoyt has been a great source.
    Look for tires else where!
    I still have rice paddy tires on the back!
    Great for logging, but man they rut up the world.
    Nice find there. Be safe Chris

    I had the 2210D, Loved it. I could putt the thing around all day and barely notice a drop in the fuel tank. Mowing rpm's used more but still nice. The thermo start should be used, keep a cap on it and dirt out. The heat element is similar to a car cig lighter and does burn out so check it if hard starting. Your using the decompressor wrong. Turn it on, then key to start. As soon as it fires turn decompress off. On mine I would turn it off as soon as the engine started spinning. With decompress on the engine will have a hard time starting if at all. Power Shift (PS), very nice, fantastic on the brush mower, I ran a 5 ft. It handled tall/course grass, weeds and light brush fine 3rd gear-3rd power shift speed. In thicker grass or heavier brush I would simply bump the power shift down to 2nd or 1st on the fly. To change directions, no clutch, just PS to neutral let stop, PS to reverse.etc. I had a loader on mine and PS was of no use. The loader was too slow and required the clutch to dump. I had other equipment for other tractors and the best thing I did was modify a 3 pt quick hitch to use some of the cat 1 stuff.

    Yanmar power shift is designed to take off from a dead standstill just flip the power shift into first gives you a live PTO that way also works excellent when box blading without touching the clutch you bring it down into neutral pause for a secound then pull it right into reverse without touching the clutch you want to be careful and get the hang of it because if you pull a straight into reverse it will have the tires going backwards while you're going forwards give you a hell of a jolt after you get the hang of it it does very smoothly also highly recommend run your three point hitch up and down a couple times in cold weather like that to thin the oil out get some heat on it powershift runs on the same oil and you do not want to use regular aw-68 hydraulic oil it calls for what is known as the hiking hydraulic oil like a 20 weight

    I’ve had my Yanmar for a few years, my only real complaint is it’s just seems to be going through hydraulic hoses. Start’s easy runs great, does overheat when I brush hog need to narrow down what the problem is! Thanks for the tip about the screen in front of the radiator! Great demonstration!

    2 dead giveaways its not an american version, the throttle works in the opposite direction and there is no guard above the pto shaft. i have an 87 ym226D with loader so it has frame extensions, also snow plow, bush hog and grader blade. its a recent purchase, just got done going threw it checking things tightening things changing a couple things and painting it.

    i have an 87 226d, the little bottle you said you had to put fuel in, mine is sealed and connects to the return line so it fills its self, and as far as seeing oil pressure i take the oil cap off while running and i can see the oil spitting out in there. like you said yours is a grey market tractor, mine is not so there would be some differences anyway.

    Mine's not that hard to start. Sounds about the same as mine when it does start, but I'm wondering if that's from a blown head gasket. These things are notorious for blowing head gaskets.

      In the early '70s as a cross rated sailor, I got diesel training.
      This put me on the ships boat, at times.
      Was I shocked to find a Yanmar.
      It was totally trouble free.
      Their tractors could not be marketed here, because of their agreement with John Deer. This was over the fact they built JD's compacts! Take a look at a JD 750.

    I need to replace my injection pump and the previous owner took it apart. Can you tell me if the fuel line cross each other or does the front fuel line go directly to the front injector? Thanks

    • @averybryant
      @averybryant  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lines do not cross going to the injectors they should line up if they aren’t out of shape. I cant remember exactly which one goes to the other but like i said they should just line up length wise

    This is advertised as 22hp. While this has the same size engine as the YM240, it claims 24hp. My question is, What is the difference between the 2210 verses 2210B. I know "D" means 4wd. The "B" version has the instrument cluster sticking up about 4" higher than the hood and is black. I can't find anything on the web about it. Maybe refurbished or rebuilt?
    I bought a used pump for my 240 for $350 online. That was years ago and haven't messed with it since I couldn't get it to come out. It is hung up on something inside. Did you have that problem when you switch it out?
    Thank You

    • @averybryant
      @averybryant  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to remove the rectangular plate near it i think it had 6 bolts. In there there is a clip that has a spacer underneath it. Once you pull them out you can lift the arm from the governor and then remove the pump

    I have a 2610d and I have a bunch of smoke coming out of the breather tube. Seems to run good though? Just started doing that.

    • @averybryant
      @averybryant  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Ford 1910 I have (featured on my channel) did that as well when I first bought it and got it running, is disappeared after an hour or so of run time and ran strong the whole time. Id make sure the exhaust isnt backed up but wouldn’t worry much unless it gets excessive

    • @frontiersmanselfreliance3621
      @frontiersmanselfreliance3621 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is the breather tube you are talking about? Does it come out of the crankcase?

    • @averybryant
      @averybryant  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think most the yanmars have crankcase breathers on these smaller models so it would either be blow by or something else causing excessive crankcase pressure

    • @frontiersmanselfreliance3621
      @frontiersmanselfreliance3621 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, most diesels have blow by tubes coming out the crank. Smoke coming out this tube indicates exhaust gas is leaking by the piston rings into the crankcase. In the early stages of ring wear you will see smoke at start up till the engine warms up, then as wear continues it will smoke continuously

    Talking about high priced Parts, my Ford 1110 decent quality radiator $300, dealer $500. Tie rod ends $50, dealer $125 rear axle seals Dealer only $125 each.
    Glow plugs dealer $48, napa $13 starter dealer $750, reman napa $125 and the bad news is dealer no longer supports this model and when their Parts stock is gone we're SOL
    Just a heads up for owners of older Japanese Tractors.

    • @averybryant
      @averybryant  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would trace power to key switch, starter, and starter solenoid terminal that gets power from key switch

    • @ryanwolf4101
      @ryanwolf4101 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is two years late but mine wouldn't crank. Come to find out, there was a safety switch on the clutch that went out. It is designed for you to have to be seated with the clutch depressed in order to start. I just wired around it to bypass the switch and was on my way.
