Bill D'Amico for real, skateboarding is coming to a new age of skill. Nowadays you see kids at a park that are as good as someone who would have been sponsored 10 years ago but they’re just average today. It’s not making big leaps like back in the day, but skateboarding is progressing so much as a sport
"My war" keep that in mind everyone hating on the fact it was first try. His war was trying it and being confident enough to go through with it. Respect. Bc the way he launches for front crook he was really suspended in the air for a second and the fall would have beeen too gnarly 🙏🏽🙏🏽 big ups!
Rd S wtf does 50 have to do with it, it’s a completely different trick. He never tried the front krook til he got it. That is the definition of first try...
Finally, I’ve been looking for this footage since I first heard it went down. Jamie, you are an animal. No one else is even attempting a Front crook on El Toro, and you did it first try. You went from AM to Pro to SOTY to Legend in like 2 years. It’s unreal...
I remember watching this Volcom video "Chicagof" and Jake Phelps was talking to Dustin Dollin about how people get this 2 year window in skating where either you get good or fade out.. this dude is most certainly in the window! Big props to big boy Foy!
I think his extra weight helps him. His grinds r really really slow, if u watch a vid of him back to bk grinding he does it really slow compared to others, he's learnt to balance better and really lock in n hold it.
I grew up in skater in the 90s and watching Jamie over the past 5 years has re focused my interest in a major way! At 41 I'm rarely on a board these days. I'm watching a lot more now tho. Such a sick style! Thanks bro!
Some people seriously don’t understand the satisfaction, the reward for landing something you battle in your head 24/7! It’s so rewarding in terms of emotions and knowing you tackled it! I remember when I was skating I wanted to fakie Ollie a little 7 stair. When I skated I loved doing everything fakie. Couldn’t Nollie for shit but I had my fakie tricks down. The moment I popped and went up and then rolled away! I legit cried.
i met jamie at woodward my first year i worked there and ended up in a tubing day trip with him and a couple other homies. it was an awesome time and hes a super chill dude. this was like two years ago when his name was getting tossed around i heard of him as an am or something but to watch him go from homie passing a blunt to soty crooking el toro is something else. cheers, much deserved
So glad they film rail shredders properly these days!! Back when I was skating around the time of THPS2, fish eye lenses were the new craze. Every rail was filmed in fish eye, it all looked so shit!! I hated it!! Made every thing look so tiny and easy. When you step back and put the entire picture in the frame you see the full scale of how massive the rail is, I feel it gives me the opportunity to give them much for respect. Great video, great FS Crooks! 🙌🏾
I used to try front crook on curbs and little ledges as a kid. I can't even imagine trying to lock into a rail with that trick, let alone this massive set. Jamie nailed it. So insane.
I seriously can't believe he did that. Overcrook was crazy, noseblunt was crazy, front feeble was crazy. Front crook is gg, this could be peak handrail skateboarding right now.
Seeing the excitement of the homies after landing it shows.. it shows that no one expects you to throw something that gnarly down El Toro first try. They were expecting a few bails, a gnarly slam, etc. They were so stoked to see him land it first try to walk away! Jamie is a legend in my book. Being as big as he as for a professional skater and doing the shit that he does, it almost defies so many laws. But he somehow does it. But ups to Jamie for this. Massively underrated in my book. Doesn’t get enough credit that he deserves!
And this my fellow skateboarders is why he is the skater of the year. He deserves every bit of it. Not to take away from any of the other runner-ups because they all are amazing and super talented skaters and their own rights. But what Jamie has done this past year is just on imaginable and such a huge and remarkable accomplishment that it is way too easy to see that he should speed skater of the year.
Guys, Atiba’s photo of the front crook is the cover of the January 2018 Thrasher. He’s using the viewfinder to review wtf just happened. Dudes got a job to do and he’s on top of it 100%.
This generation of skateboarding is so awesome to see and be apart of. It’s insane to me that the new standard is just to be able to pull up to el toro and 50 it first try like it’s nothing just for warmup . I remember when nuge ollied this first try back in the day it was mind blowing. Skateboarding has progressed so much
i live about a 40min drive from el toro (good traffic 30min) and ive seen it in person. Trust me the farther away you live the better. That set is no fucking joke. You think its big on footy? you look at that shit from the bottom and i swear to god you wont be able to understand how dudes even try that shit. Its so FUCKED.
Respect for Jamie, I was blown away because I didn't know that it was first try. But this was more a mental war than a trick war, when you look at Joslins tre or Decenzos flip or Jaws and the 25 those dudes battled and got beaten to the ground and they won. Jamie came and did it like a beast, again much respect, but in my opinion it was not a war.
Ivan Papa It was a mental war to even hop on that rail in front crook I’m sure. The fact that Jamie is so skilled he handled it first try doesn’t take away from the achievement. Plus if it wasn’t first try, there is high chance he getting hall of meat footage and not even getting a second go.
This might be my favorite my war just for the chills I get every time I see Jamie foy throw that shit down first T and being smart enough to know that first roll in isn’t always what you have to go with and also knowing his speed and everything in effect that that wasn’t the one what a G

A war is about a battle, you are either getting robbed and slamming or battling your mind. Its bigger battle against your mind. Well done Jaime 👏👏
I thought the exact same. My war - probably more like “my breakfast”

That mental battle is one of the toughest things in skateboarding, and when you overcome it one of the greatest. Big props Jamie Foy!!

nothing wrong with slapping it into a curb, they deserve it.
For real though how the fuck could you even bail on el toro feel like youre going to die if you dont land it
I know right? Watch NkaVids. He's got some clips of "regular" (non pro but still super bad ass) skaters hitting this and bailing. It looks so gnarly.
I love how the skating world is so supportive and when someone does a trick it’s so cool to see all the people cheer and get so happy
That put such a huge smile on my face.. All the lads running for daps and hugs.. This what skating is about in its entirety

The real War was Joslins 360 that his truck broke gapping it.
