After lots of self introspection, I finally found out my emotional wounds - anxious attachment style, co-dependency, preoccupied, loneliness, not happy with my blessings and a very low self-esteem. Thankfully, now I know my vulnerabilities. You rightly said that every healing of emotional wounds must start with developing self-esteem. And for that to happen, one must develop and increase self-love. Self-parenting is a nice way to do that Stephanie :) I hope once I start this technique, I can start to take baby steps towards healing my wounds and improving myself as a person. Thanks for this wonderful video. Much appreciated.

This is me. all of it. My parents are good people as individuals. but they're a dysfunctional couple. My mother is not a good listener. She antagonizes and invalidates other people's feelings alot. so I never learned to build an emotional connection with someone until last year (which I ultimately ruined cuz i'm used to being so detatched). I'm 24.
And my father was busy with his work & brothers most of my life, never put his family or even himself first. and he had anger management issues so he would lose it at minor things and say things that instilled alot of insecurities in me. He was a provider but he wasnt a mentor/positive father figure.
Their dysfunctional duo instilled deep selfesteem issues, co-dependency and other emotional wounds in me and i'm trying to gain some space from them (i love them though, they have their own stories). here in Pakistan, boys dont move out and live with their parents & wife throughout their life, but i'm studying so I can spend the next few years abroad and heal myself.
because my parents werent a happy couple, I've always seen relationships as something exhausting and not worth the time. even though I crave for an emotional connection.

Thank you for this video. It is important for people to learn to self parent, because some people did not get this type of validation when they were children. Some people do not know how to take care of themselves mentally and emotionally because it was never modeled for them. I hope people seek the resources necessary to master this tool, because it doesn't come over night. It takes practice. I am still learning to do this. This is an important tool to master.

The Nerdy Black Girl Journal thank you so much for this comment! It is so important to learn how to do this for yourself… I couldn’t agree more that we should’ve learned this growing up but unfortunately most of us did not because our parents did not do it for themselves as well. But as adults we have to learn how to seek out help and information to help us become healthier human beings! 💗

So true the part about how some people (most people) don't get this kind of validation and molding as kids. I know I didn't. As a child I always felt that my existence was not appreciated or that I was in the way. Literally had to ask my mother to give me hugs. Both of my parents were physically and emotionally abusisive. Mother ended up passing on when I was a young girl and my father and I are forever estranged because he has a ton of personality disorders plus he is bipolar and just downright mean. I tried my best to give my daughter what I never had in the form of teaching her self love and always letting her know how special she is. But it's weird. It's almost like this lack of self love thing is in our blood because despite all of her accomplishments at just 23 years old, she still seems to have this lack of esteem. Like when I compliment her on just how fantastic I think she is, she can never just say "Thanks mom." Let me stop before I have a whole bible here but this video comes to me almost a year later but very informative and the food for thought I so needed today.

I’m finally seeing my wounds I was never allowed to be a child at all!! I was never allowed to have fun and too do the things that children do. I was taught to be a caregiver early in age to my Mom I was taught critical thinking and criticism from the man she married not my biological He was physically abuse as well as emotionally abusive She was and still is Emotionally abusive to me. Ive got to build my own mind now!! That’s the key start over mental thinking all together!! Thanks Stephanie I’m really trying I know I want out but he has cancer and no money coming in Make is hard to stay with his anger and bulling day in and out He’s here 24/7 except doctor appointments on Those days I soak up all knowledge for me to survive another week of hell..

OMG You are a God sent. I was going through a very rough patch in my life. I didn't have the motivation to move forward or do anything new. I stopped taking care of myself and reached a point of almost giving up. You are an inspiration to me and ever since I have found your videos, my whole mindset has changed. You are unlike any other life coaches that I have seen on the net. You actually teach people how to love themselves. I have joined the gym again and am learning to take care of myself. I realised that I was co depenent and a people pleaser and always giving and giving to my family to the point where I reached exhaustion! I have now set boundaries and have started saying no. My family is in shock I can tell you! lol. But seriously, I want to thank you from the bottom of my shattered heart. Putting back the peices won't be easy, but at least I have taken the first steps.. baby steps, but steps nonetheless.

Entering week 3 of my breakup. Sitting at the edge of my bed angry at myself for not being able to shut down the voices in my head ... anger toward my ex for not living up to the expectations of our relationship that in my mind were collective. Mad at myself for losing myself in the relationship ignoring the signs confirming what I knew to be true. "It was over" .. So here I sit half the morning gone not wanting to go to the gym.. A job interview tomorrow dreading it .. Did not know that comes from my ego source. Of course it does.. Ego the part of ourselves that want us to crash and burn. Thank you for this video.

What I've been learning all through the last 15 years is accumulated in your videos. I really wish that people open their hearts and mind and help their inner child grow and let accept all the fearful emotions, in order to let the past aside.

Self parenting and self reflection is important. The other side of this is having goals around this. Keeping a diary of things that come up and putting the effort into ourselves so we get the best outcome for ourselves.
Really important to have me time everyday.

I just realised I had been self parenting myself in my younger years but didn't realise what I was doing. On the flip side, I was also the one feeding negative thoughts to myself and reiterating the negativity others threw at me. I think over the years I stopped self parenting because I felt I didn't deserve it. That maybe those around me were right. The negative thoughts then began to take over. Which ultimately lowered my whole vibration. I always felt no one understood me. But maybe thats where I was going wrong. I was looking for validation from others. When really I should have been happy within myself and did not need anyone to tell me who I am. Thank you for this video. I really needed this.

Yes we do have Two Self I like to call
    it the Higher-Self & Lower-Self.
The Higher self is the Mother Of Virtues and the harmonies of life. It breeds justice, mercy, love & right. The Lower self breeds hatred, slander, lewdness, murder, theft and everything that harms. The lower self is rich in promises, but poor in blessedness and peace; it offers pleasure, joy and satisfying gain; but give unrest, misery and death.

Great video Stephanie! I’am a fan of Dr. Wayne Dyer and he formed an acronym for ego calling it Edging God Out. So true and so true to what you are saying. Also, Dyer said about allowing, that you can only be continually abused if you allow. Just don’t allow.

    • @StephanieLynCoaching
      @StephanieLynCoaching  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Jerry S absolutely! A lot of the time people are looking for something to say to an abusive person to hurt them or to make the stop hurting them or bothering them and it really has nothing to do with the other person. It is about learning where your triggers are inside of you that’s causing you to feel that hurt and learning how to love yourself and take care of yourself to not allow those triggers to cause you pain. Thanks so much for the comment!

Thinking you can master “your “ emotions and create happiness is exactly how “your “ emotions control you.
They lead you into believing that you can change when it’s not possible for you.
Only after you realize that of your self you cannot change, will it be possible to overcome ALL “your “ emotions which will cause you to have no more conflict within, only perfect peace.

There are so many things that go into being able to regulate emotions and pursue happiness. We've had some great philosophers and theologians explore this topic deeply and reading them helped me. Cognitive therapy can be beneficial. I think we need truth for love and happiness. This is quite a big topic.

Thank you doctor for sharing this self parenting with all of us. Sometimes my inner child is agry or crying and I can't stop it. Maybe I can have a four hours argument/discussion with someone who had hurted me and not get into any conclusion. I'd definitely put all of thesd into practice to see if I can overcome my pain and be calmer to seat down and have an effective communication with someone who is doing something which annoyed/hurted me. Thank you very much.

Yes! Learning so much about myself through these videos!
    Learning great tools!
I have learned I am a sensitive codependent...that its ok..I can change myself. ..I can trust myself..I can be my best self, and its ok if my spouse deos not approve of me..I have approved my self! The biggest eye opener ..is I started trying to play his game..I felt horrible being like him! That's not me..I basically became abusive myself while playing the game! Thats not ok with me. I dont have to play the game..I have a choice!
    Self parenting! Yeeesss!

Hi Steph, Way past ninety days. Working on visualization and not letting my mind drift. Skippy is under control, Tommy wants a union and Thomas keeps being relentless. We work as a team. Your the best!, I was just thinking that : )

I've always been curious about self parenting. I struggle with negative thoughts and feelings, because I tend to get stuck and don't know what to do. But this trick, ill definitely try from now on
