    Good to get you in the log, Colin! Keep me posted on when you want to do the “A/B” testing on the Moxon. Cheers and beers from the states. 73 de KB7ZUT

    Hi Colin I've just made a 10 m moxon and because of restrictions mines in the attic working really well got in France 5/9 was pleased with that and that was on 11 meters so early days

      It was very stable to my surprise with the winds. Hardly any windloading.

    I suppose a more fair comparison would be elevating a vertical to the same level as the top of the Moxon's level and running three sloping radials out from the base, maybe along the guy cords.
    That way the vertical isn't being disadvantaged so badly by the surrounding buildings.
    Still suspect the Moxon will beat it for gain, but it would be interesting never the less.

      Great Idea Kelly. I think I will test out both. Raised no doubt better but by how much?

    The Moxon doing a good job sadly the vertical will not hear most of today's stations ...Thanks for the video

      Yes and I hope to prove this either way so there is no ambiguity, especially based on modelling!

    great work colin, and nice to hear that band, as its completely dead here always hi.
    yeh your beam vs vertical, interesting to see, but of course apples and apples, for me being a vertical nut, i would still go for the vertical on any band over any beam, simply for the easy of build. but great for those who use the higher bands, and obviously you demonstrate whet other could have a go at.
    ive just been on 40m cw working sweden, one had a dipole another a vertical but were same signal strength, even though one was running lots of power, as the propagation changed, the sigs switched around hi hi. 73.

    • @MM0OPXFieldRadio
      @MM0OPXFieldRadio  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you need a beam for the higher bands unless wide open or beside saltwater. Lower bands different as you say. I need to compare to a ground mounted vertical as well as a raided vertical for completness.

    Hello Collin,
    Thanks for the info on your 10m Moxxon.
    Mine is still waiting at home for final assembly as soon as I return to Germany in march.
    At present I am avoiding the cold weather in Mexico, not on the beach but in Palenque/Chiapas.
    Hope to be able to contact you on HF from Germany.
    My callsign is DL2BCZ.
    All the best to you, 73

      If I can get 15m on it too its then less of a gamble as more likely 15m will be open.

      Will do, I have a nice path south to ZS here. Only worked ZS once before and that was 10m.

    Antenna looks a lot better on this video than the snap shot on Twitter.
    I assume you are using the 'armstrong' method for rotation?

    Correction ! The Solarcon Antron 99 is a halfwave Antenna ...and the Fake Info about this Antenna is that the additional matching 4 Radials Kit for this Antenna is NOT making her a 5/8 Wave as the Manufacturer tells it would be. Garbage Antenna. I never been a Friend of halfwave Antennas for CB Radio. I always ran 5/8 and 7/8 Base Antennas with the best Results RX & TX wise.

    • @MM0OPXFieldRadio
      @MM0OPXFieldRadio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the correction UG. I could never afford an A99 as a teenager and had to make do with a Silver Rod.

    • @DK5ONV
      @DK5ONV ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MM0OPXFieldRadio To be honest. I never became a Friend of 1/2 Wave Antennas or of Fiberglass Rods. But the K-41 Silver Rod was great performing 1/2 Wave Aluminum CB Antenna for less. I used one myself for portable Activations and Vacation Setups but my red italian Companion " RM-KL500" Transistor Amp. fried up the K-41.
