They finally fixed the ABS System, which I dont hear people talk about enough. Previously trail braking to get the car to rotate was nearly impossible, since the ABS acted more similarly to a stability control system, whereas now it feels like ABS kicks in only when wheels are locking, as it should.
Yeah this has been on my list to talk about for a while. ABS weak was always closer to real abs and default was an assist. Looking forward to digging into all the options now.
I think your struggles with top speed etc. might be down to more than the physics. If you look at the top right by the track map, you can see the windspeed. Where you were struggling to hit speeds in the Supra at 5:05, you had a headwind against the car, which pretty significantly effects you in GT7. I can't speak for the wind in the old clips as it's cut off, but it's worth a consider. You can test without wind by going into a lobby or custom race and enabling "Equal Conditions" in the race settings. For whatever reason, you can't do that in time trials. At 5:35 as well, the ABS display is broken when watching a replay and it will always show as full ABS lock, so the clip from that lap is probably from a replay which is why it's showing like that. I don't think they ever changed the way it displays, but the way it physically functions has definitely changed this update.
Nice idea with equal conditions, have to remember that one. But for the speed tests though that wind was the same direction blowing across the track but slightly faster in the old update footage. I should have mentioned that I checked it. But I actually am testing wind again right now so we'll see if it's changed. Good info on the replay brakes too, I am still perplexed as to how I never noticed it.
I didn't like the psychics in Gr.3 but liked them in rallying & road cars. In Gr.3 im lapping only 0.5 seconds slower from my lap times from current psychics with current update. I was 0.5 seconds faster with 1.48 update previous psychics.
The stock suspension is made for stock tyres. So when you put racing slicks on road cars it handles badly, so the same would go for putting other tyres on race cars.
What's your upload schedule? I enjoy your videos and am always thrilled to see a new upload from you. They're just kind of on and off and then I feel we lost another sim tuber off the platform. Not complaining or anything...sometimes life has us by the nuts lol.
Lol yeah my schedule is a mess. With full time work, cycling, table tennis, badminton and this week travelling... Ideally I want to somehow get to releasing a video a week, but I really need to be disciplined. Currently releasing like 7 videos a year... That's not good enough, I need to commit more.
At least playing with a controller, cars on wet track are *much more* grippy and on a 3 minute lap time (Suzuka) I easily shaved off something like five seconds. There is much more traction, I used the GR86, a moderately powered RWD car, and whilst before the update it was manageable but very very tricky to put power down, now in comparison it almost feels like an AWD car. I don't know whether that is realistic but at least now racing in the wet is not as stressful and actually fun 😂
Yeah, I now find the G PRO waggles left and right when the car is at high speed in a straight line, or initiating heavy braking Wish they hadn't done that. It was great before
It feels like going from GT6 to GT7, cars are bouncy, my cars swerve and crash at places they did not used to, very weird. The Mangusta is a worse nightmare now
Pantera stock tune but widebody w wide tires and wide offset now has tire/fender rub. Never had that before. They’ve ruined their suspension. Everyone is blind to it because everybody tunes in super-stiff suspension. The game has issues with a lot of vehicles, I wish they’d just leave it alone because it’s still not a proper sim and they just keep goofing it up.
It just changed depending on the car. I had a car I painstakingly tuned to get rid of snap oversteer, after this update I can hardly drive the thing. Get other cars feel improved. 450 cars, they’ve wrecked some and improved others.
i hate the new physics.. im a drifter in gt7 and with every fkn update they ruin drifting. suspensions got wobbley af, tires got way to much grip and the cars just cant hold the drift anymore…
@@DriftNick I would but until I have alot more money in my rig it's honestly not worth the setup again. Rebuilt my pc and my install drive refused to work with the new system configuration so I had to wipe it after a week of troubleshooting every day after work. Shit like that makes me hardly play anything on pc because it feels like every time I boot it up there's some annoying issue I have to fix first.
Im not a fan of the physics. God forbid you hold the brakes going into a corner the rear end comes out and the whole care slides. ABS? Whats that poliohony ask
This might not be popular opinion but I don't get why they update physics. Why keep tinkering with it, it just feels like fiddling. You want to get used to a car and they way it handles. Imagine in real life racing if every few months the physics changed. It makes more sense if they keep refining it in preparation for GT8 and release it there. There are a bunch of other things that people have wanted updates on forever. One of my personal ones is, a break down of lap times after a race. I don't get much time to play and when I do I will do 1 or 2 races. I want sector times for each lap to see where I have improved. Even just the full lap times, very often I try set my best lap time on the last lap. You have about half a second to see what the final laps time was before the race ends. I can't count how many times I have watched the replay just to see a lap time of a lap I thought I did well on. Its just crazy that its not there, pretty much illogical in a racing game of this magnitude.
Yeah I hear what you are saying. One thing to note though is that the programmers working on physics aren't the ones doing other things in the game, so it's not like you lose anything.
I've seen people say that you can now feel when the car is going to give way, but I simply dont feel it, and if they added slip angle like people said they did. It should be visible. You should physically see your car actually in that plateau of slip angle but I don't get anything, especially on torquey cars like the 1971 Mustang Mach 1. One thing though I noticed is that for controller players, you are now at a severe disadvantage, due to a curvilinear throttle you're not actually controlling the throttle, but leading it. This gives a huge problem where if you are on the edge of grip (Of which you already can't tell when you are) if you go beyond the bounds and apply too much throttle, you won't know due to the curvilinear throttle it will take a moment to catch up with your input, and then when you go over, you realize "I need to go below" and you're still sliding around until the throttle catches back up with you, but then you try to find the line again but you're now stuck going back and forth, back and forth.

@@FormulaDigital Ahh nice, good stuff. All the changes they've made are really interesting, really nice to see any dive into it.
NEED TO USE SAME TYRE ON ALL CARS FOR PROPER SCIENCE
Im always amazed how entertaining these videos are to me even though im not really interested in car games.
Glad to see you using the Alpine on Eiger Nordwand, I think it's perfect just for the name alone
Physics has improved in my opinion
At the moment I’m not liking the new update, I’m driving slower now
It's because now it's way more realistic.
Yea it's definitely more realistic with the braking and getting on power but much harder to drive consistently I just hate the new force feedback
I like it. It feels better
The good thing is when the car breaks away its controllable.

The new physics are slower for basically everyone
Another fantastic video. So good I watched it twice. Keep up the good work.
Do sport or racing tyres make a difference on the type of car like should a gt3 car not use racing tires but hyper cars should

You should be able to buy the gran turismo fox for 20,000,000 credits.
I love how GT7 now feels.
It finally reaches sim standards
Haha, they even put a fox in... cool.
Is it just me or do the racing Tyres have more grip in the wet?
How many pp is the gran turismo fox?

Why can't people compare GT7 old vs GT7 new

Sadly it's the same on pedals it's just wayyy more pronounced on controller bcuz of how much less travel/muscle control you have over the input
Absolutely awful. Ruined on controller
