The CSR make sense if one spends $2,000 at 5x points on airfare through the portal and $3,000 at 10x points on hotels ,car rentals, or select restaurants through the portal. If one relies on 3x then it need to be around $13,000 in annual travel spend. Definitely don't use the CSR for daily.
That all makes sense. With that said, based on this math you would also have to factor in the addition points you can earn form the intro bonus. In this case you are stating you would need around 40,000 points a year for this card and the "easiest" way to obtain that would be through the high multipliers which make sense but then that intro bonus alone would net you at least a year a a half of use on this card. Plus that's not to mention the $300 annual travel credit and the any other use you gain from the other benefits. Btw I am not disagreeing with you I just want to add more context to this calculation.
Great analysis. I have the CSP now, for my 3rd SUB, after having a CSR twice, 48 months each time, for 280K total points.
Nice, what was your reasoning for effectively downgrading?
ok,,
