What a layout! The train automation and the operations would be most interesting to see in action. All the details, all the scenery, all the painting would have taken a huge amount of time. Adding stress to the operators is something I would not think of but it must add another level of operation. Seeing that fiddleyard and it size really must be the biggest fiddleyard I’ve ever seen. I’ll have to check this channel out because this seams to have everything. Really inspiring seeing this. Clint
Hi Charlie just a short noteto let you know I am finding your You Tube series really interesting ,So much so that while I am Covid restricted in my country I am now Binge watching your series. Your humour ,commentry and technical explanations are inspiring to me and I hope your other subscribers Thank you very much
Wow, the running really shows the issues possible with the dual-layer layout. So many wires and point motors that have to be cleanly installed, especially when re-worked after initial build.
OMG, what a fantastic layout , thanks for sharing it. I especially enjoyed the trip by engine camera, a whole different perspective on the amount of detail and work involved. Thanks again!
thank you very much for sharing this with us.I will add this destination to my go to channels as long as you are filming it Charlie. They picked a good man to take over the filming, you are always good at what you do and explain it all very well.Cheers my friend, may your new adventure bless you greatly. From central Florida U.S.A.
Having just spent the day laying cork track-base and, the track itself. Five sets of points and respective point motors, soldering on a reverse loop unit and installing dropper wires, I decided to catch up with your site Charlie. What a fantastic treat you presented. Despite the sad news about David’s videographer, he is obviously an extremely proud and dedicated model railway engineer. That said, I am even more determined to rekindle my love of modelling and as long as their are enthusiasts like you and David, I can only hope others starting out and, indeed more experienced modellers, have seen what can be achieved. I look forward to the promised updates to come!
I have followed a long with his layout for many years and the one thing that amazes me is the detail and quality that he has created to operate his trains and for the love of this hobby he has shared his love of it with all of us I'm deeply sorry he lost his friend but with you behind the wheel now to help him along that is amazing thank you for taking the time to share this video with us and I look forward to seeing more

This is a layout that dreams are made of, so much to take in. I would give my right arm for an invite to view it in person. Thank you Mr McKinlay for sharing on Utube.
My mind is boggled! Just subscribed to the McKinley Railway channel to check it out further. Thanks for bringing it to the attention of a wider audience Charlie.
Hi Charlie. What a privilege to be asked to represent the McKinley model railway. I’ve been watching this TH-cam channel from the beginning and like yours it’s been a pleasure seeing your work progress. Sad that Brian a team member of McKinley railway lost his life to that terrible disease cancer.....😢 RIP. Hopefully you’ll make a great team member and I’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing you on both TH-cam channels 😄 Where next? Richard at Everard junction lol 😆 Anyway keep the good work up and have a nice weekend Stevie 😎
Absolutely blown away with this layout Charlie. What an amazing concept for a hobby. Lots of hours of work, skill and money in that building. Thanks for sharing, Chris
Already liked and subscribed Charlie. Really like you’re channel. Not sure if you have had a chance to subscribe back yet but please do for me if you can, would love to have you as a follower. I am fairly new to you tube so need as much help as I can to promote it. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you, Chris
Absolutely stunning layout. One could only dream of having this sort of operation capability! Good on you Charlie for helping out with getting his videos out too
Hi Charlie, great video. I have been a follower of McKinley Railway from the time he started posting the new addition in 2014/15 it’s been a fun journey. He had vanished for some time then posted an update on the sad news , but it’s is nice to see new videos from him again . Cheers. Jim
Well done Charlie. I came across this layout some time back & had been watching the videos over time. This is a huge layout & i can't imagine the time & money that has gone into it. It really is a labor of love & a fantastic thing to be involved in.

David and Co. I take my hat off Sir's. you've taken ideas and expanded them with dreams beyond comprehension. I think this episode is worthy of a TV presentation. I can only hope that some time soon, you will sell tickets to your bedroom layout! well done to all involved. Gary
I'm impressed with the way the trains stop and start. The detail in the gradual acceleration and deceleration adds a realism that is usually lacking in layouts which causes the overall effect to be spoilt.
Hi, I have followed McKinley vids for many years and like many I'm suitably impressed with the concept and construction of such a large layout. The many past videos on control options and operational options are interesting to say the least. This layout is a one dream to reality passion, with as you say, the space and superb team...goes without saying the monies, it has become awesome ... I always look forward to the next episode of this spectacular ever evolving layout. As mentioned below, certainly worth a documentary on what I'm sure will be the UK's most encompassing layout.. Hi Charlie! ... just popped by to say thanks for the link to McKinley Railway ... Thanks {?} to the "lockdown" have managed to "binge" on most of their videos. ... Don't worry ... your's are next on the list! ... Many thanks ... AB
Hi Charlie , well most of the descriptive words have been used already , I just wanted to add that its an incredible piece of mechanical and electrical engineering, there are obviously some very experienced and talented people on that crews . Good to see you joining them . Happy modelling , have fun ...
Hi, I have been following McKinley Railway since the beginning of his TH-cam channel. It's fantastic to see his team of skilled workers helping build his layout. I found that his videos are professionally made as if they are TV shows and heavily edited, but leave out the nitty gritty of behind the scenes and under the layout. I hope you will be able to bring in some "How did they to this or build that" work. Because once the layout is finished, there's no chance to go back and show how it was built.
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it. I will do my utmost to show the nitty gritty. Please subscribe and check out all of David’s releases. I’ve scheduled the next one for tomorrow noon.
Hi Charlie, an incredible layout. Wow. How to comprehend the planning and labor in installing such a mammoth layout. Thanks for showing us this fine creation. - Dean from Minnesota
Hi.My name is Phil looking at the models of the steam locomotive and the other locomotive brings back memories of the days when I was on the footplate In the 1960s.I did 50yrs on the footplate at edgeley shed finished my time out at longsight as a driver Regards Phil.
Superb! Been a fan of McKinley since it started having met David at Ally Pally. Its great that you've been able to step in - love the videos as the end of this, the long subterranean run and the superb trains especially the Western and the wonderfully detailed and lit coaching stock. This has to be the best layout on youtube!
Its such an amazing layout to run and agree the team down there with David are doing a fantastic job with it . Look forward yo seeing more of its progress
Unfortunately I couldn't afford that but hey, take nothing away from the thought, commitment, knowledge, enthusiasm and the work that has gone into it. Well done EVERYONE involved, including those behind the scenes who rarely get mentioned.
Charlie, that's really a beautiful layout. I kinda like the idea that a computer is running the trains and deciding when and what order they appear on the layout. I do like operating though as a local or as a switchman in a yard working to break up trains and remake others for distant distentions as well as local deliveries. Now we return to Sedwitch Railway. Hey Charlie; Every day is an Excellent Day to Run Trains.
That's the most amazing model railway I've ever seen in my life how inspiring I want to build one exactly like it with more wonderful world's and little funfairs and destinations thanks so much for this amazing video
Absolutely awesome. The amount of time, effort and money that’s gone in to this layout probably can’t be quantified. I hope it’s all insured for their sake

Paddington. That's where they found the bear and from whence he got his name. I think I read all those books when I was a child. That is a truly magnificent layout! He's got more track in the fiddle yard than I'll have on my whole layout! It's quite generous of you to help out with the videos, Charlie. One of the best things about this hobby is the great people who are involved in it. There are a few that are otherwise, but most are grand people.
Love your videos. This is an Amazing layout and a great series. Complex wiring, excellent scenery plenty to look at. And the thing that stands out so much is, how did the white Austin station wagon get next to the hut ?
Wow, I am impressed. That is quite some complex wiring system. Some people underestimate the thought and planning in creating something as wonderful as this layout.
Hi Charlie i have subscribed to dave's channel like you said, it looks amazing i can honestly say Dave's layout is orgasmick what a layout it must of cost a fortune but wow its every boys dream to own a layout like that , Must be exciting to run the trains on it i bet the time flies when working the layout getting the times right all that shunting just amazing great video Charlie as always ,all the best John from Rugby.
Hi Charlie great video I've been following his channel it's very interesting he's very dedicated and so are his team this layout and the control of it is mind blowing glad to see you on board there Charlie.
Cracking layout. Very impressive. I think it would be most modellers dream to have the space for a layout of that scope. The biggest I’ve seen is 40’x32’ in a farm building but try as I might I can’t get permission to video it.
@@ChadwickModelRailway oh yes I did not know anything about this layout in my years of modeling I know I destroyed my old layout bk in 2010 and took a 7+ years break from it all. But I still never heard about the massive layout till today. Thank you so much Charlie for sharing this video 👍kind regards Gary Leicestertmd
Superb stuff. Imagine that house with all those trains running about and having a load of mates overnight to run a night operation such as sleepers and mails all while swigging the odd beer!
Daves layout is amazing....he gave me advise on digital automation years ago at a show...a great guy to speak to like yourself I bet... Great vid ...jim
I always get a sense of childlike wonder seeing layouts like this (which is a strange thing to say given I'm barely 20). I went to see Gainsborough once and it was fantastic to see a full main line represented in miniature scale.
Great Overview of a fantastic layout, and thank you for sharing. very inspirational and what can be achieved with just by using your imagination. nice one ….all the best Tony
Charlie, when I first came across Chadwick MR a few weeks ago I thought that I recognised you from somewhere or knew your name from something. Now I know ! I've been subscribed to McKinley Railway for a few months. That's where I know you from! Now I can stop wondering every time I look at your videos. Your layout may be much smaller than McKinleys but I'll learn more from yours than his. ;-) .Cheers
Wow, what a layout. It seems to be based on 'Forget about the cost, give the cat another goldfish'. The fiddle yard is most impressive. An absolutely magical wonderland
That is one impressive layout and I have to say that I do admire its features and its functionality. The transition from the late steam era to diesel is just something that is rarely replicated in a span of the 19 year period :). I will be watching more of your videos, that's for sure and consider me subscribed. All the best Ash.

You're welcome.
What a stunning layout this McKinley Railway!!!! Just A W E S O M E!!!!! Cheers Onno.
Hi Onno, yes it’s a true masterpiece
Cracking layout. Very impressive. I think it would be most modellers dream to have the space for a layout of that scope. The biggest I’ve seen is 40’x32’ in a farm building but try as I might I can’t get permission to video it.
Thanks TT, I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it
I'm very impressed. It would be great to see it. Thank-you for posting it.I'm enthralled by it.
Yes, it's a thing of beauty
Incredible thank you for sharing you fantastic creation with us .can you tell us how many miles of track that it's in
Sorry Andy but I will ask next time we meet up. Regards Charlie
WOW what a layout that is Charlie my jaw dropped lol great video and tour round it I much enjoyed watching it just cant get over the size of it all.👍👍
Thanks Leicester and hopefully you have subscribed too.
The only limitation is your imagination.
Daves layout is amazing....he gave me advise on digital automation years ago at a show...a great guy to speak to like yourself I bet...
Great vid ...jim
You’re too kind Jim.
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it.
Outstanding to say the least...mine would fit 100 times into that!! Brilliant

@@ChadwickModelRailway THANKS FOR THE REPLY :
Been following McKinley for a few years now so it's great to finally see a drivers eye view of the layout. :)
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it WP and hopefully you have subscribed too.
Previously subscribed to McKinley with my westcoast miniatures account. Have just subscribed to your channel using my new layout account. ;)
Thanks mate.
Fantastic ! Thanks for sharing Charlie.
Thanks Herr and hopefully you have subscribed too.
Wonderfull so amazing Charlie keep safe,
Thanks Tony, regards Charlie.
I always get a sense of childlike wonder seeing layouts like this (which is a strange thing to say given I'm barely 20). I went to see Gainsborough once and it was fantastic to see a full main line represented in miniature scale.
It’s a great hobby Tom.
Great Overview of a fantastic layout, and thank you for sharing. very inspirational and what can be achieved with just by using your imagination. nice one ….all the best Tony
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it Tony.
Gobsmacked! Definately at the other end of the scale from my single track branchline exhibition layout!! Great video again, Charlie.
Thanks Caz, I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it.
Charlie, when I first came across Chadwick MR a few weeks ago I thought that I recognised you from somewhere or knew your name from something. Now I know ! I've been subscribed to McKinley Railway for a few months. That's where I know you from! Now I can stop wondering every time I look at your videos. Your layout may be much smaller than McKinleys but I'll learn more from yours than his. ;-) .Cheers
That’s very kind of you to say so.
Wow, what a layout. It seems to be based on 'Forget about the cost, give the cat another goldfish'. The fiddle yard is most impressive. An absolutely magical wonderland
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it David.
Great backdrop. So many don't see that clouds have a scale and go "horizontal" on the horizon.
I couldn’t agree more Paul. Regards Charlie
Now there is some serious money involved, very nice.....cheers from Berlin Germany
I’m so pleased that you found it interesting, regards Charlie
that was a grate layout you have there
Thanks mate.
Only one word “WOW”. Thanks for sharing it.
Yes. Simply breathtaking David.
That layout is absolutely stunning.
Yes, it's a real beast Robert.
Great video Charlie! Great to see trains with KD's. Much more releastic!
I’m so pleased that you found it interesting mate. Regards Charlie
That is one impressive layout and I have to say that I do admire its features and its functionality. The transition from the late steam era to diesel is just something that is rarely replicated in a span of the 19 year period :). I will be watching more of your videos, that's for sure and consider me subscribed.
All the best
Ash.
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it Ash.
Stunning on every level. Ingenious even with the automation. I tip my hat.
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed it Jason. Stay safe. Regards Charlie
