- I think I have it narrowed down to one set of contacts in the switch. I have one more test to perform to verify that. So one more trouble shooting video to come.

This is a perfect situation to add some switches! Don't miss this golden opportunity!
Give thanks bradah
thank you for this video! it helped me alot!
Good video, these are really good for others that may have trouble, electrical problems are a bear to troubleshoot anyways...knowing how the wiring interacts and is fed is part of the trick. can you imagine what it would cost from a stealership to do what your doing by the way IN MY SHOP...
I fixed my bike thanks to this all by myself.....THANKS!
Well done and thought through ,had my burger eat 4 ignition switches damm bike shop made some money from me ,got it fixed for the last time and then I sold it bought a vfr1200 to replace it.
Thanks for allowing me the shop time by the way.
Burgmans AN400 1999-2001 had similiar issue with ground cable on the CDI unit which lead to false Ignition making engine suddenly die on a road or a highway, which happened to me. Very dangerous expirience. If someone needs some tip, be glad to help. Solution is very easy. Safe ride everyone.
Viktor Zh hi, I think I have the same problem my burgman 400 motor died going over a speed bump and now starter motor won't fire and bike not running. what did you do to fix yours? thanks Lloyd
FaultyNation If you have backfire and engine dies on a road suddenly just after backfire, it means ground cable is poorly or no connected to the CDI unit. CDI unit is on a right side of the scooter just under the panel. Cable is white-black and it goes directly to the unit. You need new Earth cable, just take 1.5mm and these clamps nilza.net/mainpage/detail/electrical-wire-clips . You dont need to strip the whole right side panel to get to the unit, left side of panel should be removed to get to the earth cable on the engine (big black cable). Connect new 1.5mm cable and black-white earth cable from unit together with electrical clamp as close you can to the unit. Than you should have enough lenght of a new cable to connect it to the engine earth cable on the left side of the scooter. If you want I can make you a video and post the solution here, maybe its easier and would be helpfull for other people. Best regards Viktor
hi there,
i got a sudden cut out from electricity when I tried to turn it on, first I opened the switch and everything went good and ready to press the starter , then all of a sudden a click sound came along with shutting down all lights in dash board, never had this before, checked fusees and battery , everything is ok but no sign of power comes on the dash.
any tips please
@@The_Touring_Jedi by any chance did you make that video I have this exact problem
Mine died doing 60 and ill be damned if i can figue it out...i have fuel, spark, and decompression valve seems to be operating properly
if I make all 3 connections with the 3 wires can I start bike and drive home without causing that f 1 error? I think my switch is bad but afraid to test cause of that security thing
Not sure. TSC sent me a link where you could buy the ignition for about $200 or get it, the gas lid and the glove box lock (forgot about that one) for around $280. I think I can carry an extra key for 80 bucks.
George couldn't make it by this weekend. Had three granddaughters wondering around in the barn wonderin' what the heck I was up to though.
Colour? Red, orange, brown, i think and more?
Good thing you can do some troubleshooting and narrow it down yourself. At least it won't cost an arm and a leg to fix. Maybe just an arm and a toe. Anywho, hope you get her running soon.
Glad it happened close to home! After the thieving bastards destroyed my ignition switch, I am still carrying two keys. It's only irritating ALL the time!
Is the old switch something you can pull apart and clean the contacts? Where's the plasma cutter?
4 of em, wow. I have not heard anybody else talk about this issue and could not find any real links to the issues on line.
Hope you figure it out, don't need another "Burgman down" situation. You, the Smyrna Cowboy, makes my bearings issue seem pretty minor. I guess Klash32o is runnin' clean so far...
By George I think you got it.
Sure doesn't look like it. It kinda looks like the lock head is removable which would be handy if I could swap it out and keep the ignition key and the key for the gas tank the same. Maybe when I get ready to take this switch out I can cut the bolts off with the Cutbastard 150.
Hi man, long time ago... But, now I'm in trouble because my mirror are closed and can't have access to ignition from bottom, how you disconnected the cable from ignition, seems to be a metal pad over and can't disconnect it... I want to make contact for open they, I don't know if you can help me, but thanks anyway.
Yes it has been a while back, I sold mine in 2017. My plug was easily accessible from underneath. Could be they saw it as a security flaw and covered it up in later years, not sure. There was a guy who had a very extensive set of video's on repairs of a Burgman called LeDude00. It has been about 10 years since he put out a video but he did have a set where he totally stripped down his for a rebuild.
Thanks mate, I saw all ledude00 video but all are with mirror open, this is my big problem, I can touch the connector but can't unplugging because I don't know what kind of sistem I have to use, then with only one hand is very difficult. Thanks again, don't know if repair of not, Suzuki or other will asks too much while scooter is not valuable now.
Good trouble shoot electrical baffles me
Having different keys would suck....maybe a local locksmith could re key the tank lock?
A blown fuse would have been great. The switch looks like it is pressed closed.
It certainly looks like you proved the ignition switch is faulty.
I think it was a bargain, they wanted 80.
At least you don't have to pay $100 per hour!!!
