Design Prototype Test tested the EnviroKlenz® Air System and the Foobot Air Quality Meter against his 3d printers. As explained in the video, 3d printing is a smelly process that can also release VOC's (volatile organic compounds) and other chemicals into the air. In this video, he goes over different 3d printers and explains the technology behind the EnviroKlenz® Air System.
The EnviroKlenz® Air System has a two-stage filtration process. The first stage is the EnviroKlenz® Air Cartridge that contains our patented earth mineral technology. In this stage, the VOC's are captured and then neutralized. This process is unlike carbon. Carbon retains the compounds without neutralizing and once the filter becomes full it re-releases those pollutants back into the air. The second stage of filtration is the hospital-grade HEPA Filter. This can capture up to 99.9% of particulates in the air down to .3 microns in size. With this two-stage combination, the EnviroKlenz® Air System can remove not only a broader range of VOC's but also mold and mildew spores, pet dander and any other allergy-causing particulates

    Enviroclense gave him the machine.

Given the smell of a 3D printer you probably wouldn't notice this issue:
I recently bought an EnviroKlenz based partly on this review and now need to return it. When I opened the casing to install the filters I smelled a rubber/plastic smell. When I turned on the machine it started pumping this smell into my home. Perhaps given enough time it would fully outgas this smell, but I live in a small place and don't have an isolated room to outgas it in.
Reading Amazon and Better Business Bureau reviews after the fact I now see that I'm not the only one with this issue.
It stinks as this does seem to be a good odor and VOC removal device.
I do not have MCS, I'm just a person with a regular nose who likes a perfume-free house. My wife has scent-triggered migraines and needs something to get rid of the laundry and perfume smells that come from our neighbors through the shared attic/wall. We both noticed this off-gassing smell as a strong, noxious odor.

Use a fan, plastic food container, and blow over activated charcoal

This product filters down .3 microns where as the UFPs released from 3d printers are .1 and lower. Why is this a good filter for 3d printing?

      It's gimmick

Yep. Also, the foobot is complete garbage. Google "foobot fake science". This video is garbage.

"A quirk of the physics of filtration is the very smallest particles are actually easier to filter out than the 0.3 micron ones. The smallest particles get pushed toward filter fibers because of their collisions with gas molecules in the air, Siegel explains." www.vox.com/science-and-health/2020/8/19/21364031/coronavirus-air-purifiers-filter-hepa-merv-ventilation

Hepa useless against VOCS! Is this a sales pitch?

It has an additional pre-filter for the VOCs.
