    I was in high school when this came out and he's provided the soundtrack to my life for the last 45 years. It's great to be able to hear these songs for the first time again through someone else's ears. Don't pass over the live performances it's where he shined. Check out "Meat Loaf Live With MSO - For Crying Out Loud". He's great with an orchestral backing

    The “motorcycle” in this song is actually a guitar played by Todd Rundgren.

    The girl in the Meat Loaf videos, Karla DeVito, was not on Night Court. Ellen Foley, who actually sang the female parts on Bat Out of Hell, was the one that went on to be on Night Court. Karla was brought in for the music videos and she did lip sync to Ellen's vocals. When they went on tour Karla did sing live.

    • @martiwest2594
      @martiwest2594 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A couple biopics have been done already. Meat Loaf played himself in at least one of them.
      As much as I love and respect Todd my brain and heart tell me that who can do it better than the person, themselves?

    Hey Lisa, a little bit of Trivia about this song.... Todd Rudgren played the lead guitar in this song. The sound of the motor b ike revving up and roaring away was actually Todd fooling about with his guitar as they needed a bike sound and did not have one.... so he created one. Meatloaf said that he was blown away to see Todd record the lead guitar track for the song in 15 mionjutes and in one take.

    • @lloydwells327
      @lloydwells327 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not exactly correct..... The song was finished (Todd Rundgren mixed it) and he was playing it to Meat and Jimmy, Jimmy said what have you done to my song, and where's my motorcycle, I wanted a motorcycle in my song...... Todd picked up his guitar and said you want a motorcycle, I'll give you a motorcycle and played the chords that are now legendary to an open mouthed Jim and Meat..... The song was then remixed to include the 'motorcycle guitar'

    There is some context to this it was originally meant to be in bat out of hell the musical, the character strat has to run on the bike because the girl's dad is going to kill him. Sadly the musical didn't come to the stage until 2017

    Wonderful...
    When your on about him giving time for each member to shine, you have to think more of Jim steinman. He is behind every nuance in it... Every guitar point, drum beat every single thing... His vision... The song would have been much longer... Much much longer... He plans it all as an entire piece. Sadly Jim steinman, the genius.. also died last year, he was behind bonnie Tyler's total eclipse, holding out for a hero and Celine dions it's all coming back to me now... If you look at those too, you'll see that same exact precision... Even more so if you look at meat loafs for crying out loud and objects in the rear view mirror.. the bat trilogy was a soundtrack to Jim steinmans play and vision ...that he kept on adding too over the years of a story called Neverland. A futuristic Peter Pan in a post apocalyptic city built of chrome.
    Sadly...when Jim died meat said now that Jim's gone.. I'll die this year... 6 months or so later... Sadly he did.
    Meat was due to go back into the studio this month to record a comeback album...
    Love you meat and jim

    I understand why you would think Jack Black is more famous than Meatloaf, but you have to understand it's more of a generational thing. My generation knows the significance of Meatloaf. He was a huge star and the album Bat out of Hell has sold some ridiculously high amount like 14 million copies. Maybe even more. I like Jack Black and I do see the comparison for sure, but for people my age, they are not remotely in the same league.
    As a singer, I would love to see you do some INXS reactions. What You Need or Original Sin live from Wembley Stadium in 1991 is a good starting point.

    The girl on-screen during the video is Karla DeVito. The voice in the video is Ellen Foley (from Night Court). Karla DeVito was the backup singer on-stage during the tour, as Ellen Foley had other commitments that kept her from going on the tour. They took video of DeVito singing on the tour and synched it with the studio album using Foley's voice to create the music video. It's not really fair to say that DeVito's lip-synching, as she was giving an actual performance at the time.
    The piano player is Jim Steinman, who wrote this song and all the others on the album, as well as many other hit songs for multiple artists.

    The songs were written, composed and arranged by Jim Steinman. Although Meatloaf was very good at it, he was just a gifted performer, not a creator. The best (and most successful) Jim Steinman song actually is "Total Eclipse of the Heart", sung by Bonnie Tyler, and not by Meatloaf. And for Carla de Vito (The "lip-synching" backroundsingsress): She actually had a duett with Jim Steinman himself: check it out Jim Steinman: Dance in my Pants.

      @borisbrosowski6630 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NBLP7001 Steinman had a lot of million-sellers without Meatloaf. Meatloaf had zero without Steinman. But I give him that he was the best male performer of Steinman songs hands down. It was a curse for him because he wrote very good songs himself (Midnight at the Lost and Found, Blind before I stop) that nobody wanted to hear, because they were not enough Steinman-like.

    • @NBLP7001
      @NBLP7001 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@borisbrosowski6630 Yes, he sold a lot of records with his name on them. He didn't sing any of them. The right singer makes the song. No one wanted to hear Steinman sing Bat Out of Hell or Total Eclipse of the Heart (I don't want to hear ANYONE sing Total Eclipse of the Heart) All Along the Watchtower, no one wants to hear Dylan sing it, Hendrix's is the signature version. Crazy, Willie Nelson does a fair job singing it, but it's a Patsy Cline song. Sunday Morning Coming Down, Kris Kristofferson can't carry a tune in a bucket, but Johnny Cash made the song immortal. You can't discount the right singers contribution.
