Ceasar's creativity implementing bubbles to make ranged attacks made me think the power system had potential for many different, creative applications; it never once crossed my mind that it could also mean Araki was running thin on new creative ways to use hamon because it ironically DIDNT have potential. So I guess it phasing out was for the best. I definitely think it shouldn't have phased out as fast as it did tho and we should've seen some more memorable users with creative ways of using it such as Ceasar.
I still don't understand why Joseph didn't teach Jotaro hamon (because his mother is in danger so he will be willing to learn). Just one punch of Star Platinum with hamon is enough to end Dio
It’s pretty reasonable because each part gets better than the last, it wouldn’t make sense to put part 2 in a high spot, maybe higher than part 3 but under part 4 definitely
i like part 4 a lot, but not because of yoshikage, but because having “piece of life” elements really makes it more relatable, its the closest thing to relatable that you get from jojo (unless you are a prison escapee, a mafia member, a cowboy or a vampire killing sun breathing man). it also has really great replayability, i watched it back to back 3 times and rewatched multiple episodes separately. i think that stems from the fact that it has really easy to understand plot and fight and from the familiar setting. really good part, and yoshikage adds flavour to it rather than being the whole meal.
Love Kakyoin! He is very chill and his vibes were needed. His stand animation is beautiful. His death was so legendary that Kishimoto decided to kill Jiraya in exact same way. Both discovered the Big Villain power secrets, than got their throat crushed by said villain and then used their last bit of strength to reveal the villains powers to their allies!
The thing is that I loved Kakyoin but we all know his stand had the least potential in the group and his final move (Emerald Splash) was the most underwhelming final move.
Do you mean giving a final message? Because that like a staple of shonen even during the 90s hell that's a staple of storytelling the final message or final act was used in part 1 any way
Honestly I think people are too hard on Phantom Blood. Yeah it’s not as good as the other’s, but that doesn’t make it bad, and I actually liked the relationship of young Dio and Jonathan, where Dio kept on trying to break him but Jonathan never gave up
part 4 first half really has a unique quality of being the only "safe haven" zone across the franchise. Retroactively it holds no real threat or mystery (speaking as a Keicho tolerant-er here), just cool to hang out with the boys exploring the crazy noisy bizarre Morioh! I can't count the number of time I have dinner with the Tonio episode on.
My only problem with part 3’s stands is that a lot of them feel so basic. I like the stands that make you think “I have no idea how they could possibly get out of this situation, what would this stand be able to do in this scenario?” And while part 3 has some of these like Set and Death 13, it feels like for every one of those stands, there’s 2 or 3 stands that are just raw power like tower of grey, priestess, the world, etc
I just started watching Jojo (I am in the middle of Joseph’s hamon training with Cesar Zepelli) and honestly, I really enjoyed Jonathan as a character. He is heroic, inspiring, strong and a person filled with love. His rivalry with Dio was very interesting and the part where Dio admitted that he can’t kill Jonathan himself because they grew up together was very touching. The way they “died” was a nice ending for Jonathan’s story because he protected the ones he truly loved, a very noble sacrifice. Overall it’s a very nice introduction to the story and characters in the future without being that overly complex.

It's insane to me how it seems no one in the jojo community can agree on a definitive list of the jojo parts together. I feel like most people would have similar opinions about the parts, but I guess not.
Why would they? I personally believe that the Pucci fight was 100x better than the Johnny vs Valentine/Alternate dio fight. And I also personally believe that the wonder of u Arc was the best Arc in all of jojos. We all have our different opinions, and that's what's so beautiful about a community.
tbh i’ve seen quite a few similar opinions on part 4 (as i’m sure you know already), it seems to be the most universally loved part. however i know some people who say that they prefer something against the norm (i mean hell this isn’t unpopular but part 5 ended up being my all time fave after liking part 3 for so long). i guess it really just depends on the community you surround yourself with!
@@saintsugoipart 5 is a better version of part 3. P5 has far better stand battle I’d argue the best stand fights of any part, and the chase of the main villain starting at the half way point and seeing the villains perspective is something part three lacks other than occasional showing of how menacing and spooky DIO is. Part three has too many problems with its story, part five has a few but overall it’s better. Ye?

Your takes are super valid, especially with stone ocean (despite it being my favorite part). I think there are def just people who over exaggerate S.O’s problems (misogyny) The middle chunk is dissapointing bc it couldve been the perfect time to have the characters actually all interact TOGETHER as pucci’s veil unravels further. I REALLY like the idea that the S.O group isnt a straight group right away and eventually comes together to fight Pucci but start out with their own goals and reservations- it makes it more realistic and interesting, and imo helps adds to the dynamic of the community and intricacies within Green dolphin Street prison, which also could’ve been fleshed out some more and would’ve helped it be a much more interesting setting. Instead of that tho the middle chunks of the story focuses more on jolyne (which is fine) but doesnt give time to the other characters- FF, emporio and anasui get the bare minimum (FF is the beat character in S.O though) and weather gets SO criminally underused. Despite all that though i think stone ocean is a fantastic work of art with amazing characters (even if they couldve used much more screen time) and it has my two of fav characters in fiction- FF and Pucci
Anyways my ranking from worst to best would be Pt 1- weak sauce but fire ending Pt 3- fun part that i grew to appreciate much more over time but still suffers from pacing in the anime Pt 5- i wanna read it in full after having watched it; not a bad part just still suffers from pacing fatigue for me personally and i didnt connect to the characters very much in my first viewing but i rly like the second half of the part and dont mind the last fight w the arrow chase and body swaps as much as most people Pt 2 - hamon is infinitely worse than every other jojo power system but pt 2 uses it ti the best it couldve been used and i rly like Joseph and caeser and overall wacky fun part that got me truly into jojo Pt 8- fantastic part, amazing jojo, weird typical anime tropes with how yasuho is treated that jojo usually doesnt have+ worst villain + overall inconstancy with quality but still has really good highs + joshu (I hate you) Pt 4/7- too different from each other to compare but both are nearly perfect in what they set out to do Pt 6- personal fav + best villain + one of the best jojos + fully fleshes out jotaro and makes him an amazing character + best stands / fights + best ending
Weather was pretty underused but I feel like everyone else in part 6 was paced pretty well. “Batch 1” is about Jolyne, Ermes, and FF with a little Weather, 2 is about Anasui and FF (who bows out early ;-;), and 3 brings back Ermes and Weather and gives more Anasui. And I kinda love how vulnerable it makes them by splitting the groups
Personal favorite bit of each part. Part 1:a pretty tragic ending was not expecting on first watch/the first fight with Dio as a vamp in the Joestar mansion. Part 2:ending the final fight with great fan service to Part 1's opening. Part 3:one of the best non final villian fight in ice v pol. Part 4: foreshadowing Kira. Part 5:Risotto v Doppio is my favorite fight in the whole franchise. Part 6: having a non Joestar beat the main villian was a nice change of pace plus roundabout for credits. Part 7: High voltage is my favorite ark in the whole series. Part 8: A really cool idea for main villian power.
i don’t trust people that claim that part 1 is their favourite it’s just clear signs of an individuality complex some of you do NOT know how to read 😭 i mean absolute favourite like ranked number 1 over every other part in the franchise no one’s going to jump you for just liking part 1
I do think "hate" is too much for part 1, too. It is the worse of Jojo parts, sure, but it laid an essential foundation that commands some respect for its name
About 6 months ago I was about to start watching Phantom blood when I came across this video. Today I have finished reading SBR. This video motivated me by knowing Jojo's basically kept getting better.
9:27 to me part 6 is worse because everything including gwess, first part of foo fighters, manson, jailhouse, parts of heavy weather, * what he mentioned makes it by far the most drawn out and straight up boring part. at least with part 3 the duds are pretty quick to solve. like the sun would take 10 chapters longer in SO
I have a soft spot for Phantom Blood. Yes it’s the weakest compared to the other parts but I do think it still has its qualities. Of course Dio is fantastic. Especially the English voice actor for Dio is amazing that I feel and go up against the original voice actor. I still find the fight scenes cool to see. And not gonna lie the first time seeing it I finished the part in just 2 days. I found it so crazy in ways the characters always reacts so non human like in their dialogue. It’s a certain quirk I like that I don’t see other parts have. If it suffers from one thing I do think it’s a very basic story and a lot of the characters are basic. Compared to other parts it’s the weakest in so many areas, but I don’t think that discredits from how much I still like the part one.
Part 1 is my 4th favorite part (I haven't read part 8 yet) and a lot of people think I'm weird because of how boring the plot is. I do admit that the plot was a bit boring, but the reason I like it so much is because of the characters. I don't see how anyone can hate Speedwagon, DIO is one of the best JoJo antagonists, and Jonathan is insanely underrated.
@@AdamMribihapart 3 deserves all the respect even tho compared to later parts it definitely isn't as good and well written but it was the game changer for the series and we had the best fight jotaro vs Dio also jotaro became the face of the franchise as well it was what saved jojo
I disagree with some of your rankings (like part 2) but I always love people's opinions on Jojo and watch everytime. Thanks for the video it was really good!
I feel like too many people just try to speedrun part 3 to get to Dio, if you let it breathe and embrace the "Me and the bois" vibe, its a very solid part imo
As an avid slice of life enjoyer, I'd put Part 4 in 1st place. I like how the characters interact with each other, and the Stand fights are pretty dope, like side-stories. Yeah, I like Josuke vs. Kira, but what about Koichi vs. Yukako? At first, Koichi couldn't fight against Yukako because his Echoes was at Act 1, so it wasn't very strong. But it then evolved into Act 2 and became stronger and used it to fight against Yukako when he was a prisoner at first. Which is still technically slice of life since we see how crazy Yukako is while "taking care" of Koichi.
There are some things cut from the Phantom Blood manga when adapting it into the anime, such as the sacrifice at the start of it all, the backstories for both Danny and how George got the Stone Mask, hell, even Dio remembering how his father told him to buy more booze using his mother's dress, the last thing he had to remember her, while Jonathan questions him and his medicine. Also the uncut intro for Jack the Ripper and the 77 Rings challenge, which only 3 people besides Bruford and Tarkus beat.
3:33 it's almost like Araki evolved as a writer and noticably improved over time with each part so each of the first four parts were noticably better than the one that came before them With his last two parts being some of his best work
10:26 What is more italian than drugs, drugs, fishing and abusive fathers? (As an Italian, i can confirm that you can find all of this, however i must add great cooking, you can litterally ask anyone to make you a famous italian dish and they will be able to make it incredibly good.)
part 1 stans are malding also, (part 6 enjoyer here) while most of sone ocean's cast don't have chemistry, they don't need it as much as the other parts due to the structure of the story. Everyone is connected through Emporio or Jolyne, splitting them into sort of two groups. While it definitely is a problem it isn't as bad as it sounds. Also I fucking love the ending of part 6 and F.F. is my beloved.
@@oofbidoof5844part 1 is a clicheeic part, that has no flavour to it, i literally started doing chores around the house while watching part 1 for how bored i was
@@ChadBenjamin as i said, it was clicheeic, that means i have a problem with the plot, and the characters overall, no problem with the time, the place, the phasing, so still, i think the part is bad
@Gappys6thTesticle The characters had more depth in the manga. The anime skipped some crucial scenes for both Dio and Jonathan that show that they are more than just generic bad guy and generic good guy.
It is true, part 2 is the second “worse” I think a better way to word it is that it’s not bad but it’s not better than the other parts, because the other parts are just so much better
I think part 5 is a little better than part 4. If we are talking consistency every fight (other than final battle with diavolo that was poopy), passione, the executioner squad and pasing were all great. Even the ending with diavolo in the loop and brunos goodbye was good, the only issue with the part is diavolo being a little boring and the entire duration of the body switch. Part 4 is heat but it can have bad fights and villans (atom heart father, rock paper scissors, that one doll kid and no one in there right mind likes red hot chili pepper). Kira carries the part but i still have issues watching it sometimes bc it can be super boring.
Respectable list and understable in how you felt about some of the parts. I love the whole series. It has such a fun and goofy feeling throughout while also being grim. Hard not to enjoy any of it.
Part 6 is awful the only thing that is not hot garbage ermes and jolyne being really good characters and having good development throughout the series otherwise it sucks but I guess we each have different opinions
I honesty don’t get the hype for speedwagon, I can’t even remember anything he did in part 1 or 2, I thought it was just some type of random joke the jojo fandom created
Bro this list is so incredibly based. I would've switched parts 2 and 3 but I think there is a huge gap in quality seperating phantom blood and everything else. I think the reason people remember part 2 so fondly is because it came right after part 1 and Joseph is iconic.

Love the NPC Part 1 takes, keep it up. Said it before, gonna say it again. “Flawless personality” is having casual Nat 20 charisma all day every day like Joseph. Jonathan has a pure personality. He’s an honest person with good intentions, but he’s naive and wears that on his sleeve for most of his past, which gets him into conflict consistently. If he were perfect, everyone would fawn for him, including Dio.
He corrected himself, he didn’t actually mean flawless, he just mean a character who is 1 dimensional, and calling non controversial takes “npc takes” is just dumb
i just finished jojolion, and i really enjoyed the final 40 chapters or so. It picked up a lot for me and gave my friends and i some really good laughs when we talk about it. we all agree that part 7 is the best tho. im not much of a western fan but man did that really strike a chord with me
part 6 is easily my favourite (I'm anime only) almost purely for the climax. the last like 8 episodes of stone ocean is by far the best part of the series imo.
@@apperushredder not for me, i think that is where araki started getting way too good with his artstyle, and also focusing on the story and the art more than the stand fights
I love part one. It’s still my least favorite, but it was really tightly paced and I enjoyed the story. Jonathan is enjoyably simple and didn’t overstay his welcome to me. The fights were definetly the worst in the series but tbh we’re still fun. The final Dio battle was really good and Hamon was ok. Part 2 still has some great fights. Liked the pillar men but didn’t love them.
Finally someone spoke the trith about Hamon, istg every time i hear the words "hamon overdrive" i start snoozing (but i would still put part 2 above part 3 and even 4)
Part 3 really had a hard time being the first part with stands. I bet if the Crusaders had more fights they would be much more popular. I personally think the Crusaders are the best group. Just because of their chemistry and their simple yet strong stands. Part 3: more crusader fights Part 5: more protagonist fights
If anyones curious. 1: Polnareff (especially the 3 times he gets serious) 2: avdol coming back 3: Darby brothers 4: dio fight 5: avdol and Joseph humping each other in public The problem is you have to make is through like 20 ish episodes of torture to get anything interesting.
Its hard for me to explain why i feel part 2 is better than part 3. I guess to me, hamon was interesting enough and I enjoyed the story more than 3. I still love part 3, but i feel its too slow. Reading the manga (even part 1) gives everything a whole different pacing and it makes me enjoy part 3 more
Honestly never have I agreed with a list so much, the one thing I might have done differently is I would consider putting part 8 in 1st and off 7 in 2nd but honestly, I’m not sure I would in the end, the 2 are so good they’re interchangeable in that spot
Very contradictory list but of course you can have your opinion. Part 3 was the introduction of stands and did a great job of explaining/showcasing the potential they had with each fight in the part. The journey to get to Dio although lengthy, made it that much more satisfying to finally see Dio get dusted and was honestly the best climax Ive seen up to part 6. Especially avdol and iggy’s dearhs. Seeing as how you didn’t even mention these fights, I can definitely tell you put it so low just to feel unique. I do agree that SBR looks very interesting and I’m looking forward to its anime adaptation.
That was the main one I was concerned about, would have rolled my eyes and given up on even listing all my disagreements if we got some empty brained JoJolion hate lmao.
Part 6 (in my opinion) is tied for the best jojo part. Almost all complaints come from people's misunderstanding of powers. Almost all fights and characters are increadible and the final fight is no doubt tied for the best fight in the series. The ending created a perfect ending that tied together all of the main themes of jojos. Jolyne is no doubt the best joestar and her developmentis perfection. My only complaints are the yoyoma fight, chemistry (but i dont find it as bad as some people think), and at best decent side characters.
Yes! Part 6 is amazing. So emotional and beautiful. I actually liked Yo Yo Ma a lot in the manga in particular for some reason. Guess the pacing was just better. I love how there’s the ever-present danger but it constantly does silly things and of course the funny moment with Jolyne and Anasui
@@emblemblade9245 that and Dragon's dream was at least 10 better as well in manga, because of the visceral hand-to-hand combat better conveyed in mangapanel than the hohum attempt in the anime
Part 2 is tied for my part with part 7 cause damn was Joseph entertaining and so we're the pillar men. They're not evil, they're a race of silicon based beings who wish to conquer the sun (or at least Kars and co did). And the humans were getting in the way of this goal. Kars spared no one in persuit of his goal and I commend him for it. Esidisi was alright but Wamuu, wamuu was a fantastically written character! My fav pillar man
i really like part one but i feel like it’s because the other parts retroactively make it way better. on its own it’s just okay. i think i still like it more than part three either way.
My list is: 1-Part 4, 2-Part 6, 3-Part 2, 4-Part 3, 5-Part 5, 6-Part 1, 7-Part 7,8&9. Edit: this is subject to change as I do plan to re-master this tier list.

SLICE OF LIFE PART 4 IS CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED I WON’T STAND FOR THAT SLANDER
part 4 first half really has a unique quality of being the only "safe haven" zone across the franchise. Retroactively it holds no real threat or mystery (speaking as a Keicho tolerant-er here), just cool to hang out with the boys exploring the crazy noisy bizarre Morioh! I can't count the number of time I have dinner with the Tonio episode on.
literally the most overrated part wdym
i agree, it should be lower
slept through like 20 episodes 🗣️🗣️
W TH-camr
My only problem with part 3’s stands is that a lot of them feel so basic. I like the stands that make you think “I have no idea how they could possibly get out of this situation, what would this stand be able to do in this scenario?” And while part 3 has some of these like Set and Death 13, it feels like for every one of those stands, there’s 2 or 3 stands that are just raw power like tower of grey, priestess, the world, etc
Well, I think TW’s time stop is very much a “how the hell do we survive this?” stand, but I agree otherwise.
Do you plan on reading part 7, after you finish the anime?
@@raseli-sp7oc Initially I wasn’t planning to since I don’t read manga, but I see a lot of people hyping up part 7 as the best Jojo part so I will give it a try eventually 😃

Giorno hid his emotions and then cried when narancia died. He learned to show pain. Josuke's arc was short. He went from not caring, to vowing to take up his grandpa's duty of protecting moiroh
Yeah but jolyne is the first to have a proper and more obvious and better development even tho Giorno is my fav JoJo
Josuke went from Josuke Higashikata to Josuke FUCKING Higashikata in Highway Star
that's not Joskue arc though Josuke's entire arc isn't finished until the end of the story. Josuke's arc is about becoming the "hero" and learning to put others above himself which he doesn't do until he promises to protect Hayato. Josuke grandfathers death is what puts him on his heroes journey not what closes it
Giorno is literally the worst jojo. No emotion, no character development and all his fights are deus ex

Anyways my ranking from worst to best would be
Pt 1- weak sauce but fire ending
Pt 3- fun part that i grew to appreciate much more over time but still suffers from pacing in the anime
Pt 5- i wanna read it in full after having watched it; not a bad part just still suffers from pacing fatigue for me personally and i didnt connect to the characters very much in my first viewing but i rly like the second half of the part and dont mind the last fight w the arrow chase and body swaps as much as most people
Pt 2 - hamon is infinitely worse than every other jojo power system but pt 2 uses it ti the best it couldve been used and i rly like Joseph and caeser and overall wacky fun part that got me truly into jojo
Pt 8- fantastic part, amazing jojo, weird typical anime tropes with how yasuho is treated that jojo usually doesnt have+ worst villain + overall inconstancy with quality but still has really good highs + joshu (I hate you)
Pt 4/7- too different from each other to compare but both are nearly perfect in what they set out to do
Pt 6- personal fav + best villain + one of the best jojos + fully fleshes out jotaro and makes him an amazing character + best stands / fights + best ending
“I don’t even care for speedwagon”. You are.. I have no words for this
It made me sad honestly, but not everyone will like what some of us do.
Part 5: giving some characters insane plot armour at moments but then randomly taking it away
The list lost all credibilty when you said you didn't care about speedwagon

@HSE331 i think part 1 is the worst but i still really like jonathan, hes just a massive dude who's nice

The pacing is just bad in the anime . The manga had better pacing and way more enjoyable because of it .
Same, but that's kind of cause Kakyoin is my favorite character and I just like Part 3's intro to stands.
Jojo is a manga. Not an anime. All part 3 flaws was made in the anime and not in the manga
The issue is pre egypt. Its just a slog to get through while post egypt becomes better
I feel like too many people just try to speedrun part 3 to get to Dio, if you let it breathe and embrace the "Me and the bois" vibe, its a very solid part imo
at the end of the day because of the diversity and uniqueness each part offers it's still such a fun Bizzare Adventure ❤
The comparison between diavolo and lays original is even more fitting since the only flavor in both is cooking oil.
Which is still technically slice of life since we see how crazy Yukako is while "taking care" of Koichi.
and then True Man's World was made
The intensity of Rohan and Josuke gambling, or the greedy gang redeeming the lottery ticket
Interesting 🤔
Having read through Part 1 manga, I feel that the 77 Rings Challenge could be adapted as a side story that pre, pre dates Phantom Blood.
3:33 it's almost like Araki evolved as a writer and noticably improved over time with each part so each of the first four parts were noticably better than the one that came before them

also, (part 6 enjoyer here) while most of sone ocean's cast don't have chemistry, they don't need it as much as the other parts due to the structure of the story. Everyone is connected through Emporio or Jolyne, splitting them into sort of two groups. While it definitely is a problem it isn't as bad as it sounds.
