I really liked Fighting Gold. The music just feels really dramatic and I dig it. I find myself singing it to myself every now and then

I'm convinced Chase has a stand that gaslights people into thinking everyone hates it so people can keep mentioning how much they love it. 50% of opening discussions always end up in this loop.

Chases biggest hater must be hitchhiking with Kars in space, they were likely one of the worlds biggest menace only to have vanished without so much of a trace, embedded in a few peoples memories and collectively ran with as a truth.

… Okay but putting Fighting Gold that low is actually insane, it’s so stylish and melancholic and when the chorus hits it‘s genuinely inspiring, idk what happened here

I also really liked it, but I get his criticisms. Most of the shots before the second time they show Pucci are pretty forgettable (except the one with Pucci and the Sons of Dio that one goes hard).

I find it so creative how the MIH version of Heavens Falling Down is a call back to End of the World (Part 3) When Jotaro and Dio have their standoff (In the opening)
Which itself is a callback to Jonathan's and Dio's standoff in the first opening

I love how End of the World uses the singers of the three previous openings, since all three Joestars are present in the final battle in some way (even if Jonathan’s presence is just a body) and it is a culmination of Parts 1, 2, and 3.
Also pretty sure the artist name for End of the World is called "Joestars" and its got the previous singers on the artists name which is cool

Funny thing is, Uragirimono no requiem took a while to grow on me, and now it's one of my favorites.
Same. When I first heard it, I low key kinda hated it, but by the end of the part, it became my second favorite the more I listened to it.
It’s weird how that works. Usually, when you hear a song over and again, you grow sick of it. With Traitor’s Requiem, it gets better with each episode.

I believe that black background red outline shot in Stand Proud is the camera doing a POV trench run up Dio's glistening, muscular body, with the final milliseconds being plunged into his eye
I always thought the music for Heaven Falling Down was pretty good, unfortunately, chewies word is law
Yeah, my least favorite is probably the second part 4 opening
Chase gets the praise it deserves, but at the cost of Great Days.

I will say that the visuals of Heaven’s Falling Down could’ve been better, but I love listening to it on Spotify, the song itself goes so hard imo.
it's so similar to traitor's requiem to me (mediocre opening with a slower song, most of the visuals are things that have already happened, is carried by the alternate versions,) really puzzled me that it was polar opposites on the list
The fanmade opening of SBR is epic af. David Productions will have to take a TON of effort to make a more memorable intro once they start animating part 7

stone ocean is personally my fav in every regard i Cannot get enough but generally speaking this is a very respectable list (the heavens falling down slander tho,,,, i cannot)
Visually speaking i consider the less appealing 3D opening (Heaven's Falling Down) to be better than the best 2D openings, also it got the best villain interruption ever

Ok, Chewie likely just misheard things or doesn't have super bougie headphones like I do, but that "beep" in Great Days he's talking about is a cowbell used by the drummer. They're pretty common amongst drummers, and when I went to listen to the opening on my phone I didn't even notice it because I was listening for a beep like a mouse click on a sh!tty album. I thought he was gaslighting me with an edited in sound for a bit until I listened to both this video and the opening side-by-side.
Other than that, it's a good list, and Chewie's explanations were entertaining. I appreciate videos like these that give me a new perspective and let me notice the flaws/shortcomings of my favorite openings (or just things in general)

I agree though that Traitors Requiem is the best Jojo Op. The visuals go hard, the lyrics about overcoming fate and Diavolo’s interruption but Giorno reversing it and ascending his stand are all so epic. There is nothing like it in JJBA. Every other take was hotter than the sun tho.

What makes end of the world even better is that looking at it it hasn't even really changed between v1 and v2, just actually showing dio and the time stopping and I think that is just amazing.

Well, didn't think I'd find an opinion about the Jojo openings that is actually so similar to mine. I agree, A traitors Requiem is the absolute coolest OP non-negotiable
The chase suitcases are meant to show Kira acquiring killer queen, you notice each of them from random locations have blood on them until the one that’s from Egypt, where Kira found the arrow and attained a stand ability so he could dispose of the bodies easier
I feel the same about fighting Gold even when it was airing. Hearing CODA was coming back and that it was going to be animated by the cruel angel's thesis animation team you think it would be a slam dunk, at least parte 5's op2 is pretty good.

Chase is my favorite jojos opening song. There is no contest in my mind about that. I don’t really pay attention to the visuals much, but I’d still put it up at number 1 just for the music. Also, bloody stream is my 2nd favorite song. I really like the tornado hands section of the visuals.
just saying, at the 6:00 mark, that beep he's talking about, im pretty sure thats just a hit in the dome of the ride cymbal of the drums set used in the song. if im not mistaken that is. (im a drum nerd lol)

This is genuinely a great opening tier list but it feels like you should separate the songs from the opening cause there are good bangers on the bad openings

Damn fighting gold and great days in the bottom? Those are like my top 3. I think fighting gold’s visuals are some of the best in the series and coda cooked on the song. Great Days has a very catchy and happy tune that brilliantly contrasts with the dark turn that the story takes near the end of Part 4.
But in the end we all agree that Freek'n You is the best jojo ending
