Love that 450. Watching you and several others has inspired me to begin my hunt to get back on the trails again after so many years. #missingmyoldbanshee
Felt good to get back out there again, but I sure paid for it the next day at work lol. Can't wait to rip it at the dunes this week. Awesome video, as always, Pete
Thanks man! The Cool Ranch is for sale actually. I wish I could keep collecting more quads but I don’t ride them all enough so I may have to part ways with a couple more 😅
Mannnn Pete the Yfz is you cant get rid of it the thing is amazing the first video i ever watched if you was the day you picked it up you are a true inspiration to the sport atv world you are a big reason why I am going to start racing MX i have a 2000 Yamaha Banshee that me and my dad and grandpa are working on it over the offseason i already have 3 sponsorships by companies I know you are a true inspiration man 💯💯
Thanks for the kind words man! I've had a lot of fun on the YFZ but Polaris is loaning me a couple machines over the winter and I know it'll be lower on priority list. Plus I'm running out space in my garage lol I'm pretty confident I'll get another one someday!Good luck racing next season🤘😬
Pete is content creator, not a one off xc racer. I mean no disrespect but if he wanted to race, he would be all in not just a one off race with way too many racers.
Wats up pH became a bigger fan when u got the YFZ 450r. I was curious the DRW case saver. I want 1> does it bolt str8 up to a 2021 YFZ 450R or did u have to do a lil trimming?
@@PeteHager ok thanks for info. My Z400 case saver needed trimming an I didn't have the tools to do it. So 2 years later it's still sitting . Thanks again I'll order from your website to get the 2021 YFZ 450r DRW case saver.
Your best bet for trimming is to use a sharp blade. Any power tools will just melt the poly material. I normally just use a utility knife to widdle material away 👍
So bummed I didn't get to see you guys out there. My brother and I stayed in Ortonville that weekend and rode Appleton both Friday and Saturday. Both of us were pretty bushwhacked come Sunday morning so we drove home instead of going back for a third day. Buddy of mine sent me a pic from your Instagram (I'm assuming?) On Sunday and asked if we were there with you.
Thanks man! It has a muffler and resonator delete. I also had them make the rear piping 3 inches and then they welded on 5 inch tips which actually changed the tone a bit
I bought it off Rocky Mountain. It’s Fox brand. It works pretty well when I don’t want to ride with a backpack but still bring a few items with me like batteries, tools, and my phone 👌
Gonna be sad for the 450 to go fs. But its an opportunity for something new! I cant lie I was hoping to suggest a ktm505sx quad but once I heard two stroke that suggestion was immediately shot down haha. But hey a Banshee or LT500R would be sick too!
Hmm the Raptor is definitely going to be better suited for all trail riding. The YFZ is super fun and can still do it but if you're putzing around going slow it's gonna get hot and they don't run the smoothest at low RPM.
@@PeteHager I know, I’ve seen them. You also mentioned adding one to your stable, I’m just waiting for that day lol. I’m a fan of the old 2-strokes, reminds me of riding when I was a child. 2-strokes were the weapon of choice for anybody looking to go fast back then. I know 4-stroke technology has surpassed the old smokers, but with 2-strokes rising in popularity again some aftermarket companies are stepping up research and it’s just a personal belief that 2-stroke technology MIGHT catch back up and MAYBE we will start seeing them in pro racing once again…. Just a personal theory. But hey, if you ever decide to ride in Tennessee I am close to Turkey Bay. It’s like 2,500 acres of trails. I’m not far from it but I’ve never been there, I’ve always ridden on private land. I’d like to go sometime but I don’t have many people to ride with anymore. Most my friends grew up and had kids, sold their toys, and fell off the map. Let me know on Facebook if you ever want to hit Turkey Bay, I’ll go ride with you guys.
@@christopheravery5808 I definitely like the nostalgia of the older 2 strokes. A 250r would be a ton of fun but I can’t help but want a banshee.. I know they don’t handle nearly as well but I’ve always loved listening to them and it would be fun to battle one on the trails! (I think😅😆)
@@PeteHager I’ve had a few banshees over the years. I’m hey can definitely use better shocks right off the bat. Anything more than an exhaust, jetting, and I take is too much for typical woods riding though. You can find a banshee with stock cylinders with the exhaust, filter, and jetting already done all over the place, they’ve made many of them over the years for sure. From there just swap the shocks and then focus on stuff like skid plates and nerf bars. They are fine on the trail if you keep them simple, but you are right, they handle like crap typically. Laeger made a Protrax chassis that significantly improved the handling though, so if you have cash to burn and can find one then I recommend it…. Even if it’s just the frame, swing arm, and A-arms. You can source the rest of the parts later
@@PeteHager I messaged you earlier in the year about an TRX250R XC build I’m doing and that I’d like you to take it for a rip sometime to get your thought on it. Didn’t get to finish it this year, unfortunately I had $30,000 worth of diesel truck repairs to do for my business so it hurt my pockets pretty hard, but as soon as I collect the other half of the parts I need I’ll be assembling it on a TH-cam channel. I’m planning on doing builds for myself and my daughters and then taking them to the races to show people what it takes to go from the build to the finish line, all costs associated including fees to enter races and the fuel to get to the races. I grew up with riding and racing, and I want to show people that you don’t have to be rich to race quads (although it makes it easier). My goal is to grow the sport at the tracks because racing is what sparks manufacturers to Innovate and create, and that brings us new sport quads. I feel like if the race scene starts booming again then we might see a 3rd wave of pure sport ATVs.
@@johnbruzzi4381 I’ve seen/heard about 460s that’s pretty much it my cousin had one it lasted close to a year which isn’t bad but don’t think 520 would be your best bet
My first piston went 150 hrs. And I freshened it up in the next 100 hrs with a new piston and resurface the jug. I have had very good luck with this engine considering its 64hp and 42 torque at the wheels
