Wow. I can still remember the time you videoed how to set up the bare wall with the mesh and the cocoa coir..now its another total look. If you dont mention, we all will think its superb . Tks for the tips and i share the similar issues you shared on my smaller 2m wall. Cant wait to see subsequent videos abt this wall.
I’ve been on TH-cam everyday for 10 years and I just made an account today to subscribe to your channel. Your voice is so soothing, video imagery so relaxing and the amount of education you have given me is priceless! I’d love to travel to Indonesia one day just to see all the vertical plant walls. Keep making these amazing videos! Much love from Nebraska USA.
Sean your wall looks great. I really enjoy your content..especially your trips to other growers & conservatories. Gives a glimpse into the ways other countries grow tropical plants. You do a fantastic job..keep it coming 👍🌿🇦🇺
Hey, Sean, a month ago I saw your video and thought, "What a great idea! It would be so cool to have a bigger house to make my dream come true." Now, I finally have a new place for living and designing a green wall there. I'm so grateful for your video, which inspired me to build a it in my house. Now I'm rewatching it for tips and tricks. Thank you so much for sharing 🫶
Looking forward to that special video. I just had my dirty kitchen upgraded with walls I intend for my 2nd green wall. And planting edible crawlers. Which I am protecting fm pests like rats that are plaguing my outside garden. So I keep my ornamental plants outside while indoor wall garden will be for my edibles and herbs
@@onlyplants thanks. Thinking the same way. The heat here is overwhelming for them though. I had charred leaves out in the garden and thought to see first how my transluscent roofing will block most uv rays to protect their foliage and grow as it really is looking like daylight in my dirty kitchen. I'm slowly trying to piece in elementsthe wall. I like watching your wall to see how I can balance mine. You were right about pinning the stalks to the wall as in my garden mice and stray cats jump and cling to my crawling plants roots get detached from the wall and end up cutting them. The garden wall had no mesh wire installed initially and that's when I learned photos grow bigger when they root on flat cemented walls. So I don't paint my walls. (I like them bare gray). They really look nice. Monstera and photos I guess can be mixed as they can grow almost with the same size and are hardy enough to survive if any of them grow larger than the other. I will wait for your next video on balanced layout referencing different types to plant together. Thanks
Thankyou Sean for the video of your wall it is beautiful, and I respect that you shared the triumphs and tragedies of doing a green wall.... It is a lot of work to maintain and takes vigilant care for future success. I have always been a garden plant enthusiasts with deep love for all things nature and wildlife, especially trees, which gave me a real passion for Bonsai Gardens. In one of my feeds for Bonsai a video with Irene from Leafing Around where You were both exploring the same botanical garden it was incredible I immediately subscribed to You both and binge watched all your episodes. Thanks Again Elle in Southern Ontario Canada
You’re amazing. It is true that I haven’t been seeing as many of your videos! Annoying! I think there have been a few times where I watched only part of your longer form videos. I wonder what the algorithm is doing…. Anyhoo! Today I searched for you and found a lot of videos that I haven’t seen! Yay for me! Hugs from arid Arizona! 😊 Thank you for your enthusiasm.
I envy your professionalism and I love your green wall. Vertical wall problems, just give them a bit of space, I know you have to work with it but you've done great. Keep at it Sean.😅
Saya pernah terinspirasi ikut bikin green wall tapi berubah pikiran krn kuatir entar di komplen tetangga kiri kanan belum lagi suami yg perlu space untuk jemuran baju dsb nya,,,,,tapi setelah nonton video ini saya jadi semangat lagi bikin tapi dibatasi tanaman yg slow growth bukan philo kayak bromed yg colourfull mostly green atau anything tanaman yg kuat panas matahari dan gak manja 😂 salam sehat Sean dan wish me luck 😊
I always wanted a living wall, but I don't have the time to invest. Just using tiered shelves for now and maybe someday I will have a plant collection as beautiful as yours!
@@onlyplants If you want them, maybe try a reptile shop, they often have them have them because they're put in their terrariums as a backdrop. It's hard to get here too, but I have found one reptile shop that has them. I love your wall by the way, and it works. Much love from the Netherlands.
Interesting… but its not available where I am. Actually many plant oils have benefits for plants too. Have not had the time to check them out. Peppermint for example is good for pests too
You need wider glasses frames if they squeeze on the side of your head when you talk. I’ve had that problem before too. But the glasses look great on you!
Thank youu. I consider myself to have a small head/face… its strange that all glasses give me headache… but maybe widening the frames somehow might help 😅
Dumb question, maybe, but would a dripline along the top , watering thru the coconut, dripping down, be of any use? SLOW DRIP with holes every, so far apart, kinda thing. Set on a timer if you go away for a length of time. Or make a " stone/ rock waterfall " system, both sides and place dripline in the center of structure. Curious if this would work for humidity levels.
Hi. When I first started watching TH-cam, your channel, along with planterina and wildfern, was suggested. I've been subscribed ever since, and I do actually get a notification every time you post a video. Maybe the person who doesn't receive notifications does not watch plant videos altogether. I watch mostly other content, with about 30% plant content these days, and like I said, I get onlyplants notifications in my "news feed".
I have very little experience with slugs, but there are pesticides that control them, although these pesticides may not be good for the environment. One of the ways is to remove them manually, and also check for eggs around and remove those as well. There are some natural remedies online but I would take them with a grain of salt 🤓
I think they are stretching outwards towards the light. Probably because the direct top of those leaves are covered by other leaves. Another possibility is that some plants simply are not climbers. For example the cane begonia that I clipped in the video would not have otherwise attached itself to the wall, but over time it grew to over 50cm tall from a nice juvenile size
Halo, Sean! I’m an artist from Indonesia (who also love plants, I’ve been hoarding in the past now trying to keep everything simple and managable, I’m sure you can relate hahahah). Currently planning on working on a solo exhibition with nature and plants themed. I wanted to use some of your instagram posts as my reference picture. I want to know if you are okay with that. Pls let me know if you require anything. Thank youu :)
It is 100% ok to use any of my images and clips as long as they aren’t used to harm/manipulate others ❤️ it would bring a smile to my face if you would show me the finished work
You are right variegation is genetics. But it is very much determined by light levels its getting. Low light will yield low variegation and reversion in most cases (but not all).
call me a Karen if you want... but your Monstera didn't revert to green because of low light. It reverted to green because it had sectoral variegation which extremely often reverts to either fully green or white. Same thing happened to my two sectoral variegated albos, and they were sitting directly under extremely strong growlights.
Having grown thousands of variegated plants, both at home and in a nursery setting, it is 100% set in stone for me that light levels are number 2 factor for variegation, aside from its genetics. And it is a very important factor ❤️
Just watching you stand in all that glorious greenery soothes my eyes and calms my soul
Haha thank you 🥹 I love it too
I look forward to a video on the types of plants to use on the wall and to not use! Thank you for sharing your learning “mistakes “ too.
Thank you. Im also looking closely at vertical walls in my travels for inspiration 😀
Those glasses look awesome on you, you smart guy! Love your wall and all the tips! THANK YOU!!!!
Haha thank you 🙏🏽😀
ty for having the courage to show and explain how the space needs improvement as well as the ways in which it is succeeding.

I enjoyed this greenwall update.
❤️❤️ I will work hard to build it better
Thank you Sean, really interesting video. Planning to set up a green wall at home too, this is really helpful. Much appreciated.

Whoaaa this warms my heart ❤️ I love that my work has positive impact on others. Thank you for writing in too.
I have an open, direct sun, west facing wall. Do you have recommendations what plants can I use for this wall?
True the underside is important as I noticed almost all my ornamental plants dying is with pests that started on the underside.
Thanks for sharing your lessons learned with us!
You’re most welcome 🥰
Love the green wall update and your experience 😊
Thank you 🥰
Very very interesting video!!! Thanks Sean❤❤❤
You’re welcome ❤️
Before you mentioned the glasses, I was going to say they look really good
Haha thank you 🤓

Interesting… for the edibles usually they require full sun. You might have to amend them with artificial light

Although you’re not very thrilled with your green wall & the lighting, I still think it’s awesome Sean!

For the low light problem, add mirrors. On the walls, floor, tabletop. Anywhere, will help with the light...
Oh yes 🥹 it doubles light naturally
Absolutely beautiful you are so creative

Beautifully done!

If you need more light you can use mirrors 🌞
Theres stuff all over the place haha, no room for mirrors here. But in most cases yes! Advocate for mirrors
Is this a common idea I started doing this outta laziness my wife said I was crazy but it seems okay to me I am new to plants

Great description of the neem oil smell😂

Would be cool to make something like this one day. In the meantime, I can enjoy yours :)
Yes please 😀

I have a feeling the drip will not get into each individual pots. Maybe a sprinkler system would work better
If you get mites are there predator bugs you can release to keep them away
Yes but these predator bugs dont exist in Indonesia, at least not commercially 🥺
Love love It 💚🇧🇷
Thank you ❤️
13:00 It looks like tropical rain 🤩

Maybe it needs vertical grow light in front.
Yes I have been placing 2 more lights in front with stands… so many cables on the floor though 🥺
Your shirt matches with the surrounding as if you camouflage in it 😂

"Like an onion farted" 😂

What soil do you use for tropical
I use a new mix burnt rice hull, rice hull, and perlite. Because I water my plants every day so I opted for something very fast draining and airy 😀
