    I love the look of my Black TE300 factory muffler with the black EE tip. Looks slick

    Back in the dark ages (70's) my buddy laid his Yami 250 down on the right side, pinning the throttle wide open and subsequently frying the piston and rings, resulting in a pretty good fireworks show out of the pipe. I can still hear that motor scream. That bike had a spark arrestor. Luckily it was in the winter in the mud. If that very unlikely scenario happened in the dry forest it definitely could have started a fire. Hard to know if a modern spark arrestor would have prevented the shower of sparks, but it seems like it could only help. Unfortunately regulations sometimes get made based on the potential for low probability/high impact events.

    I haven’t noticed any degradation in HP on my 300 two stroke with the Fischmoto so I’ve had really good luck with them.

    I tested the FMF 2 & 2.1 on 2022 250 XC-W and found the 2.1 performed more to my liking. Better bottom end and the bike pulled harder on top. I also like quiet and tone of 2.1 better.

    Your absolutely right, the spark arrestor issue is a scam, I've never seen or even heard of a dirt bike engine making sparks, the only time I've ever seen Rangers checking exhaust systems is at events like an enduro, since covid I never even see a Ranger where I ride any more.

    Screen types are a constant maintenance item. I have ridden with several people who used them, and during the rides, had major bike issues. The problem in each case was a plugged up screen. Caused delays in our rides and the solution was to remove the screen or punch it out so we could finish the rides (don't know anyone who carries a propane torch on rides ;-0). If you must run one of those, make cleaning it a regular task between rides so the rest of us don't have to deal with it. 🙂

    Believe Jeff about the screen spark arrestors needing maintenance. At 400 miles using the Enduro Engineering screen type arrestor, the bike would not run - my bad. From then on while pressure washing the bike, I'd take the screen out and pressure wash it. My next bike got a proper FMF Turbinecore upgrade.

    You're right as usual. Never seen sparks from a two smoke in over forty years. I have seen a four stroke try to imitate a flamethrower. Is the FMF 2.1 actually quieter than stock KTM? That would be my only interest, hate a loud bike...

    One last comment, I have had a FS ranger look for the FS Approved number on an old SuperTrapp muffler at a Poker Run event. By nature, the disk-type SuperTrapp design is a spark arrestor, and you cannot stick anything up the tailpipe. He knew this, but persisted on looking for the number. Probably a newbie, just following instructions to do his job....SuperTrapps were only ever made for 4-strokes, if memory serves.

      Fun Fact: The inventor of the SuperTrapp muffler, Paul Moller, went on to invent the Moller sky car.

    22 TE300. Have the EE sparky on my stock muffler and a FMF TC2.1 could not tell any difference. Leave the stocker as my back up.

    Never heard of a fire from a 2 stroke either. Same thing I've said about guns. Can't shoot on federal land during fire season...

    Great video thanks. I have a 2021 350 exc-f . I spoke to fmf directly and they don’t have a slip on for this bike. Could you guys tell me what you would recommend for a slip on and ecu as well. Do you stock the parts as well ? Thank you. From Canada here.

    I've seen sparks come our of bikes without them at night before. I think jeeps rev lower and have longer exhausts and catalytic converters which stop sparks or reduce their heat.

      @@racesla your right I have seen many trucks start on fire because of the heat starting the grass under a truck on fire.

    • @eschrader
      @eschrader 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@racesla my point about converters is that metal on fire cannot easily pass through them, similar to a spark arrestor screen/cone to divert the flow of particles

    Agreed I run the 2.1 on my Beta 300RR best noise reducer besides periodic repack maintenance free. My KTM Freeride E-XC is ever quieter and doesn't require a Spark Arrestor! Haha! Seriously most Hikers comment on how quiet my bike is. I giggle because I can hear them talking. Love my Electric Dirt Bike!

      Ha, ha, I've seen guys riding these. Then them come back to camp and fire up their generators to plug in their bikes to recharge them.

  • @WholesaleTurbos
    @WholesaleTurbos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    generally newer cars dont need them as they are supposed to have cat converters which in it self will prevent sparks exiting the exhaust

    • @timbjork2098
      @timbjork2098 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      off road jeeps and hand built buggies are usually not even running mufflers or cat converters. might have mufflers if your lucky

    Is the TurbineCore 2.1 quieter than a stock 300 XC muffler?

  • @allenfilipowicz8369
    @allenfilipowicz8369 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In regards to noise I've not seen any 2 strokes that are anywhere as loud as any 4 stroke. The difference in real world on trail loudness between TC2 and 2.1 is not going to make any difference to others on the trail where as the 4 stroke is totally noticeable for miles away compared to a 2 stroke which noise disappears within a couple of hundred feet. Personally like the TC2 for compact size and light weight and cheaper price!

    So the r304 shorty has a spark arrestor in it?

    • @slaverace1
      @slaverace1  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 304 does, the R304 does not.
