The Blue Castle is also my favorite of Montgomery's works I've read! I've reread it several times and it's one of my favorite comfort reads. Those scenes where she stands up to her family are just so great!
I think my least favorite of hers are a few of the later Anne ones--it always really bothered me that she just completely gave up her dreams of writing the second she got married and had children. I know it was unusual for women in that time to do both but I think if anyone could have done it, Anne could have! plus precocious/mischievous children is something I like best in small does, so I think that's another reason the later books didn't work for me so well! LOL
I loved this video, Kailey! so well-organized and informative and I loved hearing about what you love about LMM! I really need to get to some of her other books. I'd like to finish the Emily books soon!

Wilde Book Garden I’ve completely lost track of how many times I’ve read the Blue Castle. I come back to it again and again and always enjoy it.
      Happy reading!

L.M. Montgomery was such an amazing author. She inspired so many
writers. The Pride and Prejudice spin-off novel Wickham's Second Attempt
uses such phrases such as "kindred spirit". Makes you think of L.M.Montgomery every time.

L.M.Montgomery is my favorite author. I actually have a Facebook read-along group I started last year, and we read and discuss one of her books a month. The Blue Castle, Jane of Lantern Hill and the Emily books are my favorite! I have a few favorites in the Anne series as well, of course. Anne of Green Gables, Anne of the Island and Anne's House of Dreams are my favorites of Anne. I'm always trying to persuade everyone I know to read her books!

Love the content on your channel! Appreciate it, thank you. Have you read all of L.M. Montgomery's journals? Fascinating insight into this writers life. I have a cottage near Bala Ontario, a big part of her Blue Castle story. Beautiful place! I always associate it her.

I discovered Anne of Green Gales less than a year age. But since then I have read absolutely everything Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote, including the 2017 collection of short stories(with many wrong editorial comments.). There is one short story, which I did not finish reading, "The Red Room." Because of the subject matter. "The Blue Castle", "Jane of Lantern Hill", "Magic for Marigold", "Rilla of Ingleside" are my favorites.

LOVE this!!! I have loved Montgomery my whole life as well! And obviously, The Blue Castle is my favorite! (Also, Anne of the Island is my favorite in the Anne series.) One of my goals this year is to read her journals but I haven't started yet...I should probably get on that...

Kailey, thank you very much for such a lovely and interesting video!! ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗
With a deep meaning and the honest emotions her stories are friendly towards person's heart and picturesque describing the beauty of the nature! The brave characters with a true hearts teach us an important lessons!
I've known about L.M. Montgomery when I started watching the Road to Avonlea, a Canadian tv-series and I loved it so much!! I wanted to read those books from which tv-series was adapted: The Story Girl and The Golden Road but had found them just recently and very excited to read them! I was happy to know that they are in the list of your favorites!
I own all of the books in the series about Anne Shirley (have started reading the second one a couple of days ago, I was happy to hear that you love all the books about Anne because I heard many times that they are not as good as the first one - so I was glad to know that they are!), also Chronicles of Avonlea I'm currently reading. I own all collection of the Short Stories but read the ones that were written in 1904 (18 stories) - it's an e-book without any title, it is named Short Stories.
Oh! I noticed when I've started reading Chronicles of Avonlea that The Hurrying of Ludovic plot is very similar to The Pursuit of the Ideal one from the 1904 Short Stories collection.
I never heard about many of books you mentioned (Anne of Christmas - never seen it anywhere, many thanks for letting me know!) I definitely will check them out later, not sure though that I can find them :)
I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes, English is my second language :)

I loved the Road to Avonlea TV series when I was a kid! I watched them over and over again. But then I read The Story Girl, and I was interested to learn that the books are quite different. So don't expect the books to be the same as the TV show. They have their own charm separate from the show. Happy Reading!

    • @Camilla718
      @Camilla718 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I love to watch the Road to Avonlea over and over again! Yes, I suspected that the books might be different - there was an information on the RTA page that:
"The series was loosely adapted from a number of books by Lucy Maud Montgomery, primarily (at least initially) the books The Story Girl and The Golden Road, both of which feature the character of Sara Stanley, as well as the characters of Felicity, Felix, and Cecily. However, these books, while set in Prince Edward Island, were not set in the village of Avonlea, and a number of the series' episodes and situations were adapted from stories recounted in Montgomery's Chronicles of Avonlea and Further Chronicles of Avonlea."
It's okay with me, besides I hope I will encounter with some new adventures of my beloved characters - that's awesome! And Thank You So Much!! :)

I just finished my third reading of the Anne series. I am going to read the two Chronicles of Avonlea, and I’m currently reading The Blythes are Quoted. I also enjoyed Before Green Gables and will be reading Marillla of Green Gables-Anne related, but by other authors. I just ordered Maud’s scrapbook. I think this will be the year I will try to read all, or maybe most, of her books. Anne has always been my favorite book series though. My other favorite author is Jeannette Oke-both Canadian authors! I can’t get enough Anne though. L.M. Montgomery’s writing is just brilliant.

Ah, this was going to be the next author focus video that I did, but you beat me to it!! Haha! I guess great minds think alike! It's been almost 20 years since I first "discovered" Anne and then immediately consumed everything else by Montgomery. A Tangled Web always stood out to me! I remember loving it, but my mom and my sister didn't like it so much.
I think the only thing that I still need to read are her journals. I just found out about them recently. I also want to read more biographical material about her. Have you read the book of short stories that was released in 2017 called After Many Years? I just finished it on audio last month. Apparently these are "long lost" stories that were not part of any of the other short story collections that were published in the 90s. They haven't been published since their original periodicals, according to the description.
I have almost collected all of her books in paperback and have a few early edition hardcovers. One of these days, I would love to reread them. I can't remember so much about most of them. I just remember flying through them and loving them all.
    Great video Kailey!!

No, I haven't read After Many Years! I'll have to put it on my wishlist. Gosh, I thought I had read everything of hers.
A Tangled Web never made much of an impression on me, but maybe I should reread it and give it another chance.

No, I haven't watched it, because it's so controversial. I don't think I would enjoy it. They took too many liberties with the story, I think.

    • @SunriseFireberry

@@LuminousLibro The AoGG tales are too often depicted as sugar & spice & all things nice. Anne's pre-PEI life as a foundling wasn't nice, & PEI life around 1900 shouldn't be idealized. It had problems, just like in other places. The HBO version tried to redress the balance but went too far the other way. The way I see it, the right balance is 3/8 the way toward the HBO series: gritty realism sometimes but it certainly doesn't dominate the story.
