SO much better than the Netflix version. It was so classy and well done.
Netflix pretty much just screw everything up as I have noticed recently. Ideology manners are pretty clear there so thats why it’s impossible for Netflix to do a project in a “classy” way.
I couldn't stomach the Netflix one as hard as I tried. It was so off putting.
There's absolutely no comparison. It deviated so far from the original books, both in story line and characters. I tried to watch it, but it made me too sad. I have watched this adaptation almost as many times as I've read the entire series of books, it's so beautifully done.

The Netflix version crammed way too many political agendas into it honestly. Really ruined it once those story lines came in. This original was so classy, so perfectly & elegantly done with precision that nothing has topped it since.
They don't make movies like this anymore. Beautiful, moving, authentic, unforgettable.
Actually PBS still produces movies that are very well done.
Megan will always be "Anne' as far as I'm concerned! Her talent is off the charts.

Loved the series when I was 13, now 50. She stole my heart then, and seeing this,
I feel exactly the same way. This was a very special part of my childhood and I'm 46 years old now, and still love it.
Megan will always be Anne Shirley. No one else can compare. Megan Follows is in a class all by herself.
Having fully immersed myself in this series as a teenager, looking back in the realization that they were literally filming with so many modern day obstacles is mind blowing. Somehow, still, they managed to create a world for us that was as real and authentic as any other, and I believed it with my whole heart.

@@beataguzy739I bought this version of Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea through the streaming app Gazebo. I am not sure if they have a polish option though. You probably can't find the full version on TH-cam due to copyright laws and protection.
I'm always surprised how so few people I know have seen these movies. It makes no sense to me. They are still my favorite movies of all time hahahaha.

I’m late to the party but the cool thing is, in the book, Anne’s nose was the one thing she liked about herself.
These movies were the best! Tons of talented people. Didn't realize the director was so young at the time!

I've always greatly admired the extreme attention to detail in these productions and knew it was no accident. It takes an incredible amount of work to transform a place using real props and stuff vs computers, and the effect is so much warmer and believable. These were the most articulate bunch of people I've ever heard together. The other film versions of "Anne of Green Gables" are completely put to shame by Sullivan's production masterpiece. Megan's lovely mother is intense and clearly respects her craft, so it's no wonder Megan had the polish of a 50 year old actress at age 19.
I have always been convinced that this production of Anne of Green Gables had geniuses for directors producers
and this video seems to confirm that notion.

I have always preferred this Sequel to the first one. In this case the Sequel in my opinion is far far better then the first.
And now she is Ty Borden‘s mother on the series “heartland”. Great actor.

I wish they made another movie where Emmeline and Anne meet again. I always imagined Emmeline would become a writer, teacher, or even actress, something inspired by Anne.
I met Megan a few years ago at Fan Expo.
She was also in Heartland on CBC.

This is really the first period drama I watched as a kid in the late 80s. Then that famous Pride and Prejudice came out when I finished high school in mid 90s. Still love period dramas, and I'm certain this production started that love.
As soon as Megan's mother appeared, I knew she must be Megans mother. Resemblance is amazing. I have seen newer Anne's, but Megan and cast will always be my favorite. They were like puzzle pieces.... fit together perfectly throufhout the movies. My mom, my older sis and i watched the dvd's every year and I have fond memories of our time together doing so.
Love the Anne of Green Gables movies. I also love The Wild Pony. So well done, story, costumes, actors. Love Art Hindle.
We loved Anne of Green Gables....so much so that we travelled to Prince Edward Island (from Perth , West Australia) and named our daughter after Megan Follows. The daughter also turned out quite feisty.
Oh would you recommend it? Going to the Island, I mean? I would like so much to take my daughter there (read AoGG to her many times), but I'm scared of getting disappointed. There's no way it can be as beautiful in modern times as in the shows/books
Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea are the best renditions of LMM’s beautiful masterpiece. Kevin Sullivan did a great job writing and directing the first two movies in the Anne Series, but the “Continuing Story” was such a departure from what LMM wrote in the later “Anne” series that it shouldn’t have even had the name Anne of Green Gables attracted to it. Of course it was great seeing the actors/characters together again and older, but that’s where the joy ended for me. “You can’t mess with perfection,” as they say, and KS sadly did.
I loved all the serie,s of Anne.I saw it in the 80s and watchted them on you tube.

It was a stunning series, I still remember so much of it, it had all the events of a persons life.
Rosemary Dunsworth stole the show with her impressive depiction of the strident school principal. She's portrayed her complexity with such depth. Just wonderful.
Dunsmore, I think. But yeah. She made a huge impression on 10-11 year old me, here in Norway. Imagine how far they reached with this

I always wondered how they found such a perfect actress for the role of Anne Shirley. Megan really “became” LM Montgomery’s Anne; she was wonderfully true to her characterization in the books. Also, I love that these famous Canadian books were brought to life by a Canadian film company.
She is a fantastic actress made such story the most truth, most attractive, most filling, and sensitive transmitting full emotions direct to viewers

It's funny to hear 80s synthesizers with actors wearing period clothing 🤣 But gotta give the filmmakers a lot of credit with trying to hide modern stuff in the film.

I agree. He played Gilbert perfectly and their onscreen chemistry was incredible. It is so sad that he died so young and unexpectedly. 😥

Both Ann of Green Gables and Ann of Avonlea are one of the BEST movies I’ve seen for all ages coming from Canada. And coming from the state of Texas it makes Canada very inviting, deuces to all that hard work put into this genuine Canadian show.

This is one of my favorite movies. Megan does an amazing job acting!! Especially in one of my favorite scenes where she administers the strap on Jen pringle. She really looks broken and disappointed and sad. And she embodies how Anne would have actually acted in this moment and, though the scene is sad, it is beautiful.

The pride in her grandmother's face when she watched as Meagan's makeup was retouched was just beautiful. You can see the same pride and admiration in her mothers eyes when she spoke of her taking on the character of Anne.

Anne Of Green Gable’s has that Timeless Quality like BOTH Little House On The Praire and The Waltons. There’s Absolutely NO TV Series on TV today like this show.
