You can't help yourself - even when reviewing 3 different pistols you still provide us with valuable training advice that we don't get to hear anywhere else. At 14:35 is the first time that I heard that a lower trigger weight will assist you in developing the dexterity/flexibility in your finger to better feel the trigger and thus enable you become a better shooter with practice. It seems counter intuitive, but you make absolute sense when you stop and think about it.

I recently bought the 4.25 Prodigy. I had about 12 FTF out of 150 rounds shooting it straight out too the box. Cleaned it and ran another 120rounds with one FTF. Took it home and cleaned it and noticed that it was super dirty from shooting such a low round count but I just chalked it up to possibly being just dirty ammo. I then ran across a video where a guy bought a brand new Prodigy that had no rounds shot through it and when he got it home he cleaned it and his was just as dirty as mine after shooting the 120 rounds. It was concluded that it was the cerakote wearing off from the slide and frame. He ended up doing a manual break in of 3k manual racks of the slide and cleaning about every 250 racks, each time resulting in more and more cerakote wearing off. I did the same break in of 3.5k and took it out to the range and shot 300 rounds without any issue. I’m still doing some manual racks to continue to break it in…with each 250 racks I am getting less cerakote wearing off after each cleaning. I highly suggest new owners of the Prodigy to do a manual break in.

In my research I had already narrowed down my selection for a double-stack 1911 to the Springfield Armory Prodigy because of its features, shooting ability, and price in comparison to the pricier handguns at this stage of my usage.

Seems like a fair and balanced comparison review as I can imagine different people finding good reason to pick any three of these guns. Personally the Bul does it for me, once the Prodigy was announced I held out on buying one but this video was what i needed to finally make that decision. I see why someone would choose it, but the grip, safety, trigger, and carryability are all too important to me.

I have the 5” Prodigy and it’s running great. I did change the recoil spring before shooting it to a 12# recoil spring. So far ran 650 rounds of Winchester, Federal, Remington and Browning with only one FTE (From Winchester). I did oil and clean as well before shooting it for the first time. I also decided to change out the disconnector because there was a drag. I changed it to the Wilson combat disconnector and I did notice a significant improvement but every now and then I do feel a drag after racking it manually a bunch of times. I would say the next step would be tuning the sear if I want it completely drag free. However, from old 1911 timers from forums that have experience with 1911s, they say that disconnector drag goes away if I keep shooting 🤷🏻‍♂️. I do enjoy the gun a lot and glad I bought it the only expensive part to add on is the guide rod replaced with a Dawson precision tool less guide rod. I wish Springfield never used that guide rod that needs a tool 😕. Just wanted to offer my experience with the Spring Field Prodigy 5”.

I’d take the Bul cause I have one of their 1911’s and the triggers are generally better OotB for an off the shelf 1911/2011 . IMO, this platform is really all about the trigger. I guess if you want to carry one , you may want a heavier trigger pull but that’s what the safety is for ? The assumption being, once you’ve taken the safety off , you intend on firing the pistol .

Nice, the 3 newer 2011 style guns all together! I think of the 3 as the Staccatto as the Ferrari , Light weight, most expensive, most hand fitted and leader of the type. The Bul, the Ford GT, super light, fast and clean and finely machined but at a price point 1/3 less. The Springfield, the working mans version of the other 2. Kinda Corvette like. Built in the same style with lesser parts and less hand fitting, but at half the price of the Staccatto. I think your review summed them up very well. Glad to see the 3 guide rods compared! Nobody else has shown that. I am still saving for the Bul.

David, great review as always 💪⭐️. That was a lot of great info on the three.
I have all three now and going in 1/2 Staccato and BUL are very close. I personally prefer the BUL but it could go either way. The Springer was third and I figured it would be there when purchased. The springer has some issues I’ve never experienced in the other two and needs some upgrades. Wish it had a magwell like the other two. Changed out spring and that helped. Trigger is better in the Staccato and BUL by a long shot over the springer.
My option still has not changed after comparing all three 1/2 Staccato & BUL and a distance third the springer. So when you add the upgrades your at the BUL price point. Witch I feel is the best of the three.
Always enjoy your reviews and learn a lot. Very information as usual from you
Keep up the great work. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have the c2 limited and the p.
It’s used all the crappy cheap ammo I buy. From steel case to cheap brass. Never used aluminum yet.
But it’s worked fine so far. I’m going to test some browning ammo soon. I just got it.

Great review. The only thing I would push back on is that the 10-8 recoil plug (similar to what Springfield used on my 6" 10mm TRP Operator) should have been your third option with regards to the the stupid 2 piece recoil spring Springfield used in this pistol.

Great Video, I was dying with the shirt hahahah. I just realized how uneducated I am with the 1911 (2011) platform. I own a Staccato P with the Aluminum Frame, and Staccato C2 that only comes in the aluminum frame to my knowledge. The Staccato P has a much better new tactile grip, but the Staccato C2s grip just sucks, so I sent it out to Darkside Precision to get that secure concrete grip, they also do a double undercut and grip
reduction. I’m purchasing the Bul Armory next , the lightning cuts actually serve a purpose rather than just reduction with slide weight. You can oil the Bul Armory at a moments notice and that’s huge. Again thanks for the video, education, and your unrelenting honest take. It would be great if you started offering classes at some point, but I know you have competition, this channel, and that dad job. Looking forward to more knowledge. Much obliged big guy.

Another great video! Lighting and audio quality in the studio look and sound great as well.
Also a request for a future video: Can you discuss proper grip for large handed shooters? My dominant hand covers most of the grip leaving little grip space for my support hand. Any tips to address this? Looks like you have this piece nailed down with your recoil control.

You are the surgical scalpel of reviewer's. But what's cool about you is the self deprecating humor and humor in general that you bring to the 2A community. I can show this gun review to non gun people and I think it would hold their attention and make them laugh. Most of all I think non gun people might come away with a different view of the 2A scene compared to what the big media likes to portray..
I would love to see you and Colion Noir team up and do some gun review's together...

I think you truly get what you pay for with these 3 examples, and the fact he uses the bul in competition and does really really well says a lot. I think the bul and the staccato are the best of the bunch and are pretty much stepping stones. Get the bul and master it, then get the staccato and remember why you love a 1911. Great no nonsense review Marksman!

I just got my first 1911/2011 or whatever you want to call it. I really wanted a staccato c2 but I just couldn’t justify it as a carry … that I probably will not carry that much as my custom Glock 43x or custom 19c is just much more comfortable, concealable, and lighter, at least after owning the prodigy 4” for 2 hours. I’m going to port my prodigy and get a trigger job, and swap out the internals. After I do this, I probably could have just bought a c2.. but … baby steps. Thanks for the video.

I have both staccato p and c2. Run great can’t remember the last malfunctions. Never shot the bul. I picked up the prodigy this summer and problems galore. Front sight fell off. Lots of feeding issues. Sight plate cam loose and yes installed to exact specs. And the latest. The right side safety fell off. I fixed all these myself cause I’m impatient. But yes now that it’s broke in it’s running a lot better and is the one I shoot better with. And I agree. More pleasant to shoot. Won’t bet my life on it tho.

I’ve been disassembling my Springfield TRP with a hex key for about seven years, and it’s a hell of a lot easier to disassemble than my Nighthawks, simply because the slide to frame fit is so tight on the Nighthawk that it takes me 10 minutes to remove the slide stop. Geeez

Bul probably doesn't have the production capacity to satisfy the demand they could generate with more aggressive marketing.
Great guns, but they probably couldn't keep their quality at the same level if they sold three or four times as many firearms as they do now.

All three are nice guns, great review. I own a C2 and were looking at the prodigy, though I don’t really see a reason to add one to my collection. Springfield basically copied the Stac P, add a DLC barrel and you basically have the same gun save for some minor differences.
Now the ammo issues I don’t think are a result of the ammo itself but more so the Staccato magazines. I have those stove pipe issues with my C2 no matter the ammo. To verify, I loaded one mag with S&B, another with Sig Elite, and another with Hornady. Each mag experienced the same issues; a round chambered, dump the mag and a round would fall out. All three had double feed issues, with all types of ammo. Each mag had the same issues where manually stripping a round the following would slide 1/2 the length of the previous allowing it to be pushed out of the magazine.
When the slide cycles and eject the casing, a loose round is already out and dwelling in the breech, then your slide attempts to strip another. It doesn’t happen every time, but it happens enough for me to deem the C2 unreliable, and shelf it over my Sig as my EDC. I measured the top of the Stac mags which hold the round and act as a guide before tge round hits the feed ramp vs my other 9mm mags. The Stacs are about 1/8-1/10th shorter in length which allow a round to prematurely rise before being stripped by the slide, resulting in stove pipes and double feeds.

This things gonna be insane if a custom shop gets ahold of it. Something like what Hayes Custom does with the RIA Tac Ultra. New coating, trigger work, reliability tuning, etc around $500. Somewhat custom 2011 experience at reasonable price

1911's love grease over oil in my experience. I have fully cleaned and lubed a gun, placed it away and grabbed it a year later for it to feel bone dry. Switched to grease and have a functioning lubricated gun years after cleaning.

    • @TheHumbleMarksman
      @TheHumbleMarksman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Depends on the gun and how much your are shooting - if you are shooting a lot eventually all the extra crap emulsifying the oil to make grease is stuck in the rails - introduce grit and it becomes a lapping compound. I would rather have to re-oil after storage - personally.

Great review! I have a Staccato XC with which I’m quite happy. Bul Armory pistols are very impressive as well as the new Prodigy. I’ve seen a few reviews showing some problems with the Prodigy, but as you mentioned, just a few teething problems that eventually will be ironed out. Make your choice and enjoy shooting your new pistol.
