- This cg is in the heart of Mt Cole SF. There is a lot of fire damage and you can see where there used to be a hut. There are drop loos, firepits and a tables. Hard to camp with your vehicle here unless you are in a caravan or motorhome. There is a tiny creek just down from the camp.
Filmed October 2024 during dry weather.
Great to see the regrowth after the bushfire. This layout seems to be coming the norm, I stayed in Green's Campground located in Whroo Historic reserve a couple of days ago, and whilst it's a different situation, it is basically the same type of layout. Gravel surface pretty much covers everything and although you can pitch a tent, it is certainly motorhome, caravan or rooftop tent friendly.
Your camera seems to be attached to a gimble, nice to see the bonnet swaying whilst the scene stays perfectly level.
Yeah I’m not sure I like it! But then again I rarely camp at places like this as I like the deep bush no one around type places.
The camera is just on a suction mount. It’s the software on the camera that does it.
@@thewanderingnewbie1 Oooh impressive camera system, amazing what they can do. I was certain you were running a gimble mount.
Spent a few nights at Ditchfields before. When it is quiet, it is brilliant.
Similarly, Mugwamp is a nice spot as well. Just have to share it with the mosquitos.
I can imagine once the trees grow back it will feel very closed in. Mugwamp is coming up and looks fairly similar.
@@thewanderingnewbie1 We just stayed here last weekend. Had the whole place to ourselves. Our ep will be live in a few weeks but it certainly was different. Loved seeing Mugwamp Hut still standing.
The hut must have been protected to survive. I bet it’s quite eerie camping where a bush fire has recently gone through.
It was surreal but peaceful.
The eerie thing was that there were no other people around on a weekend.
Tragic seeing it so blackened. Have walked through many times. Falling trees are going to be a problem for quite some time. 😢
Yes I thought that. Must have had some heat going though there, not one tree escaped.
Did you take a jaunt next door to Mount Buangor SP to see if it's still closed?
No I didn’t. The kids were already bored and then with the constant road closures they were getting a bit feral so we missed a few spots. I’ll go back haha.
