I bought an og D120 back in the day for $600 and someone heard it from my rehearsal space and offered me $1200 for it like 3 days later. I miss that amp, but I still have an UltraLead and Sig:X so I’m doing alright in the Fryette department
@@KohleAudioKult it’s prettt much a deliverance on steroids. 3 channels, wattage selection, 3 additional voicing options per channel etc. But sometimes the simplicity of a single channel amp is really nice and seems a bit less compressed. I haven’t tried this second version yet but I’d bet the sig can get real close
After 20 years going trough all the classic metal amps (recto's, 5150 and equal amps, engl amps, etc.) I really start to like the Fryette/VHT amps. They are so unique, responsive and versatile. They are very nice to listen to at any volume or eq setting, which isn't the case with other amps imo. Very cool demo Kohle. Keep on exploring!
Thanks! I remember not being blown away by the first one back in the days, but there’s a good chance it just wasn’t the right thing for the project I was working on.
I have some in an acoustic control 4x12 cab. They sound so good with every head I've used (Laney gh100l, acoustic 240, Randall Rg-80ph, Sunn Enforcer, EMC g-400).
Dude, you're an awesome guitar player. All your riffs are sweet! Cool video. I like that amp. That old school mid tone reminded me of cathedral, ethereal mirror.
I went to an ISIS concert (3 guitar players, all using VHT/Frayette amps while downtuned to oblivion) many years ago when they played in a small club (some 400 people) during a weird alternative jazz festival. They didn't even bother with front of house for the guitars, just cranked their amps. It was one of the loudest concerts i ever witnessed. And i still crave that guitar sound, it was huge and utterly majestic.
Fryette is a incredible amp. My band used the Fryette Pitbull simulation to record our guitars and I dream when Line 6 adds Fryette amps in pod go or Helix to use live too. Great video Kohle!
23:40 This made me chuckle, remembering reading all of Steven's writings in the early 2000s (specificially the Mesa/Celestion OEM speaker that birthed the p50e).
Makes me want the amp even more now… my deliverance synergy module rarely leaves my syn2. Once you get your head around the eq and controls the sounds are amazing! Please a video on just the cab with the Fanes!
Had the original before loop and foot switch. A monster. I want the Deliverence 2 60watt after having sold it years ago before the loop and switching. It is Brutal and the KT88 power tubes are the best thing I have ever bought
Since I got my Fatbottom (p50e), Sig X and now an old D120, I sold everything else… that Deliverance Cab sounds awesome, I‘ll keep an eye out! Danke für das tolle Video, ein separates Video vom Cab wäre super!
amazing tones brother Brutal!!! Waiting for the new pitbull to come out i need two channels Love the cab too!! You sold me on it too. Love this setup really killer
All for a cab vid on that beast. What a great sounding amp! Loads of tone with only a few tweaks. Nice! Also wondering how that circuit responds to different boosts. Probaly a character difference mostly as the amp itself is plenty tight.
Great demo of this amp, there aren't so many.. I have the first one, it has a unique voice for sure. I use the same trick with gain 1. I have a clean boost pedal fully cranked to distord the preamp so I can lower gain 1 and get a tighter distorsion just with the amp itself. With active pickups you could even remove the tubescreamer.
I tried the module two years ago and preferred (and kept) the Pittbull instead. Can’t remember why though and I can’t say how it compares to the full amp either.
@KohleAudioKult This was the question I was gonna ask. I'm looking to grab a Synergy SYN-1 with a module as part of a Sweetwater bundle, but they offer a "call us and discuss" option and I'm severely lacking in high gain stuff (I have a Joyo Jackman II and a Jet City Picovalve and was planning on running the SYN-1 into the Jackman II through my 2x12 for the high-gain stuff) so open to suggestions... whether this is viable for recording, what module would be best for a high-gain module in this setup w/a DV-77 and Fryette P50E in the 2x12? It's asking a lot, the bundle I'm looking at is the Soldano... but open to suggestions for high-gain modules...
Try something I used to do with old Ampeg and JCM800 amps. Turn the EQ down all the way. Turn the volume up until it is what you want to start with at a higher setting. Then bring your gain up in small amounts. Start adding kids and highs in small amounts. You will be amazed how much headroom and screamer detail you get. Everyone has different experiences. But it may open some possibilities
Thank for another great vidéo ! Very intéresting the chapter you crank the power amp and finaly got less lowend pushing even....... The bass knob😮😮 Cab comparaison video 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😂😂😂
Many thanks for the vid! I dont want to sound smart ass but the cab in the vid is not a FatBottom but the newest Deliverance Cab. Because of the Fane speakers; i use onyl the Fryette PowerLoad IR for recording and there for 98% the IR with the FatBottom with P50s. I´m still little pissed off that there is only one P50 IR inside. Grüße aus Franken!
@@KohleAudioKult Yes, yes! This is my information too. But my point is that the cab in your vid is not a Fat Bottom cab. Curious how you like the PLIR. Best.
So nice! I love how you can make it sound really old school. Just a question, since it is essentially a traditional single channel amp, how does it clean up with guitar volume? Thanks for the amazing review.
wow great sounding amp and cabinet! I would like a video about the cabinet for sure! I am curious what power amp do you use to power the Amphion studio monitors you have? Thanks very much!
Cab? YES!!! Did you find it dry like most Fryette amps? I have zero issue with that. If i am having a rough time getting a part done, either clean AF or dry AF, practice some, then go back to regular scheduled programming.
You built those resonators/corner bass traps? Any advice or tools/resources? Would be very appreciated. Thanks as always to show us great guitar tones!
I wonder how you would approach the Laney Ironheart, as I find it has less gain than what a lot of high gain amps have on tap. It’s also a relatively affordable amp.
the cab reminds me of the Hiwatt custom cab from the '70s. the Amp is it's own thing but mr. Fryette has been restoring several of those vintage amps from that era (bad mods do kill Tone)
Hey Kohle!
Surprised how good it sounds using an Ibanez Tube Screamer. Never really been a fan of those pedals. The Walrus Iron Horse V3 is about the only (Distortion type) pedal I like. Thanks for the video. That is an outstanding amp.
It's a sick sounding amp, too expensive for me but random thought I feel like the character of it could fit nice with an HM-2 style pedal for like some Knocked Loose or Swedish Death Metal type tones, I'd be interested to hear what that might sound like.
I like it! While I found the VHT Pittbull amps way too dirty in the preamp section clashhing against the power amp (which itself is excellent) but it was like; who''s gonna pay 3000 for a GRUNGE amp?? OK, 30 years later and this is the shit Man! A monster Metal-Machine to crush knucklebones, tear limb from limb, or crunch the craniums of your enemies!!
It’s funny. I remember trying the first Deliverance during the soundcheck for a Benighted record 15 years ago and didn’t enjoy it that much back then. Either the amp or me or both of us have changed.
Pittbull's sound best if you keep the channel volumes low and crank the global master up to 1 o'clock. Otherwise yeah they get kinda ratty, cause the channel volume can clip the EQ circuit.
on Power Amp Saturation - I have an old Laney (1985) that sounds perfect with everything at 6 (about 1 o'clock as some would say). Too high and it gets flubby, too low and it doesn't sustain enough.
I wonder if the deliverance is voiced more to work with the FANE F70G, compared to the V30 I've heard this speakers are a little more fizzy on the top and a little more scooped especially in the high mids. Though then some find it really dark so hmmm. We just need a pitbull now.....
Your thoughts about this amp please!🤘

Back in '91 I had both the original VHT Pitbull Classic and Ultra-Lead heads. Both were great Power Metal and Thrash Metal amps. Tight and punchy.
Indeed!
Wonderful sound!...Your new guitar has some crazy and juicy low notes that i absolutely love!...And the Fryette slays🔥🔥🔥

One of my all time favorites. And you are correct, it’s so loud. If you’ve never heard one in person before it’s kind of shocking how loud it is.

Looks like there are even two different Fryette cabs with Fane speakers. I’m excited!

Great video and a great amp. Reminds me of my earforce in terms of thickness and depth and also the master volume seems to react quite similar.
Haven't heard the word "Earforce" in a long time.
😅 Yeah, Henrich stopped his business more than 10 years ago. My amp is about 20 years old and still my favourite.
This is one of the more deserving review for D120. The amp plays like nothing else out there.
both tones are fantastic, but that 2nd one..wow right up my street as a mix engineer

Always wanted to try out the 60w version but so hard to find in the UK....
It would be interesting to create different amp and cabinet situations. Just to hear the difference.
the tonestack just cuts frequencies before hitting the gain stages, so everything dimed will give you more gain.

How's it sound with a guitar vs that bass?

What the heck is any of these amp worth if you gotta stick a 2 dollar clipping circuit in front of the amp? Something to think about
Why do you have to distort the beautiful sound of a guitar in the first place? 🤓
It’s always about what sounds good. Not what’s expensive.
