    @Kameleon Kustoms have you had any problems as of late or from the past year or so with this Dasaita device? And does Dasaita have good customer service on their website as a company when it comes down to defects, damages, repairs, warranty’s, etc. with any of their products? Because I am planning on purchasing one for my car.

    Question. I've just had this head unit professionally installed in my 2014 Tundra SR5 but I was not able to retain steering wheel control functionality and back-up camera feature. Did you run into this issue after installing your head unit or were you able to purchase a certain type of harness/adapter to solve this issue?

    • @KameleonKustoms

      Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I'm not having the same success with this head unit like you are having. Not to mention, my phone will not connect to the Bluetooth feature. I'll just have to contact the manufacturer so see what suggestions they may have to solve this issue.

      Unfortunately with this video being over 2 years old I do not have this unit any longer. I ended up going back to the tesla style unit as I prefer it's form factor. The tesla style unit has served me well since. However on carplay, I never understood the appeal of android auto or carplay on a full android device like this when you can just turn on your hotspot and have everything you need on the device itself. I know carplay/aa works, you just need to launch the app on the radio first. Also when you order it, use my link and make sure you message the seller with your vehicle year and all so that you will get the proper canbus adapter for your truck.

    Will it control the A/C through the head unit?
    It will fit my car, but would block my A/C controls. If it can control the A/C and heat, than it fits all my requirements.
    Will it though? Only briefly mentioned here...

    • @KameleonKustoms

    • @KameleonKustoms
      @KameleonKustoms  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never had the Halo so I can not compare directly to it. What I have heard from others who have had both they love the Dasaita more since it is cheaper and more configurable. As for what you need to keep factory GPS and such, that is in the description of this video. You really only need the GPS adapter, USB adapter, and dash kit. If you order via Amazon the canbus adapter comes with the unit and that takes care of steering wheel controls and such.

    • @KameleonKustoms
      @KameleonKustoms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have a few options:
      1. Put the stock radio back in and go through settings to make sure the beep is on. It should stay once you set it manually off then back on.
      2. Go in to car settings on the Dasaita and try to find the proper setting. I do not currently have the unit handy so cannot help here.
      3. If all else fails you can take it to Toyota dealer and have them program it back in. This option costs alot so another way to do it is to get a Mini-VCI cable and the Techstream software and do it yourself. If you want the cable here's a link: amzn.to/2HlgRcF This route is much cheaper than the dealer.

    • @KameleonKustoms
      @KameleonKustoms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each have their own goods and bads. One is not inherently better than the other as it depends on the use case. Kind of like different android OEM manufacturers. If you don't mind tinkering with the settings some and like the looks I would say the tesla style one. But if you want something that mostly "just works" and don't mind it looking a little out of place then the dasaita is what you should get.
      Personally I loved the tesla style looks and bigger screen but the dasaita had a full working DSP built in and the audiophile side of me was like a kid in a candy store. Plus if you worry about not being able to control ac/heat if the screen goes out then the dasaita is the way to go.

    Would you recommend a self install? Is it easy for someone with limited knowledge of installations?

    • @KameleonKustoms
      @KameleonKustoms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you feel comfortable following some TH-cam videos and have a basic knowledge of things it really is not that hard. But if you are not too sure about it I would suggest shelling out the cash to have a knowledgeable shop do it. The key to doing it yourself is take your time and have everything laid out and mapped out that you need to do. Doing this just takes a basic set of tools: nylon pry tools to get bottom trim off and 10mm socket w/ at least a 6 inch extension to unbolt the radio's 4 bolts. The rest is literally just unclipping things. You can watch my video on when I installed the Tesla style unit on how to remove the factory radio. th-cam.com/video/yEMWPXm7pCo/w-d-xo.html
      I might need to do a dedicated video on how to remove the stock system.......

    What does double din mean?

    • @KameleonKustoms
      @KameleonKustoms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DIN refers to a 2″ tall x 8″ wide opening that a radio fits into. DIN stands for Duetch Industri Normen which the Germans starting using to standardize the radio's in Audi's, BMW's, Mercedes, VW's way back in the mid 80's. ... DOUBLE DIN is the same width of 8″ but is 4″ tall instead of 2″.

      This unit had a dongle with it that you used to plug in the phone to. Then you opened the app on the radio and it showed your phone (Android Auto or Apple CarPlay). The newer ones have built in options and CarPlay has wireless options too.
